  1. Its odd. Its almost as if somone put the decal off a fire bird on the hood, but not exactly the same. Ill fish around on google and see if any other jeeps alive have had the same eagle, or if some redneck put a pontiac decal on my jeep. Thats blasphemy.
  2. I can also see the remnants of an eagle painted on my hood. its hardly there anymore but its obviously a big bird from up close. it takes up the whole hood. whats that all about?
  3. Hah thats great. Well good luck to you.
  4. it would take almost zero effort to get water up there. I bet I could smoke a 4.0 in a matter of a second or two with that setup...with just one bad rain storm, a bit of stupid driving, maybe a ditch that's full of water... you get where I'm going at...a simple drizzle is unlikely to effect it, but then again you also need to take into account the car in front of you in the rain will be throwing up water...and most cars throw it just about right in the area of that lower valance. Yeah i really like your idea though it still looks nice and seems like it would work nice. Just not something i would be comforable putting on my old farm truck =p I know as soon as i try something like that my amazing luck will show itself and i'll need to drive through a friggin creek or something, which does happen around here alot. It might be interesting to look into putting a big ball pivot on it like in a hose pipe splitter. Where you can turn a valve and change it to take in air under the hood during rain or any various scenario.
  5. From that description the truck doesn't sound worth 1,200. I love comanches but people think they can charge you for the fact that its a comanche, and while being wonderfull vehicles they still aren't rare enough to pay for the name. If your around here enough you'll find a comanche no problem for a much better deal than that. I have less money than that in my Jeep and thats after all the work and parts. Mine does have some dents and stuff but i would rather have dents than have to replace a floorboard. Mine also has terrible paint but thats very easily fixed. I just hate to see somebody get excited about wanting a car and pay too much for it.
  6. good point i didnt think anything about having an upside down snorkle lol but other than that it seems like it would work great.
  7. Looks like it should work well. Do you notice a performance increase with that? ive been thinking about putting a cool air intake on mine but i like your idea really well because its not in the way.
  8. ahhh i see now. thank you my good man. i'll check it out next time i go outside to see how it looks.
  9. how would i recognize it as a dana 44? I've heard of them but I'm not sure what to look for. Also what is the big deal with dana 44's? I'm just ignorant to the whole thing haha ive had my jeep for about 6 months and its my first jeep so I don't know much about it. thanks for the help.
  10. My comanche is an '89 eliminator and i was wondering if that meant anything was different other than the lux interior features :???: sorry for the ignorance i just never found anything more than the interior when i specified for eliminators on searches, then i found comanche club 8)
  11. If your speedometer isn't working, check the cable and housing before you take your whole dash apart. The dash is a pain to remove. The cable is very easy to check and will save you lots of time. Also invest the whole $1.50 into a fuse checker and don't take apart any lights before you know the fuse is good. New MJ's are very prone to have fuse damage, especially stick shifts. Also... you can ruin a brand new pair of nikes if you don't catch your master cylinders leak soon enough... if your clutch stops doing things but doesnt lay down on the floor, you know its probobly your master cylinder and that means its probobly leaking all over your fuse box, carpet, and, alas, your nikes. If your not shooting for a show quality jeep, don't PAY FOR SHOW QUALITY PARTS! so many people will go to the parts house and throw money at all these brand new parts, which you could easily substitute. for instance instead of tearing down my whole tilt stearing column to fix my windsheild wiper switch i just wired the motor to a three way switch and push button. now i have wiper fluid, both speeds of wipers, and most importantly it was cheaper and less time consuming. USE YOUR BRAIN! don't always take everyones word for something. Think everything over. In the end it is YOUR vehicle and you should get what you want. don't let Johnny two by four tell you that everything your doing is worthless. If you know what your doing trust yourself, and if you don't then post it on this board. Two heads are better than one, especially when everyone on this site is a jeep enthusiast and always very helpfull
  12. well my dad was a tractor trailor driver and mechanic for 20 years so when he taught me to drive stick he made sure i knew how to drive without the clutch. i can shift clutchless fine in my truck but it turns over so slow its really hard to take off without a hill. by the way that clutch master cylinder is a doozie to work out of there. me and my brother did it in after a while but i was afraid we were gunna break it haha.
  13. haha thats wonderfull. mine wasnt in driving home condition, but we did drive it up on the trailor. When the plastic radiator reservoir busted the guy had bypassed that with a couple pieces of pvc pipe and then had put the water pump on crooked so it made the fan belt slice a big slit in the lower radiator hose and ruined the belt. long story short i replaced all the radiator hoses and heater hoses and the tank then i was basically good to go. except for the master cylinder. that was a whole different animal because it had leaked down all over the fuse box and caused the fuses to short out and burn up. so after replacing the fuses i noticed my foot had brake fluid on it and figured out that problem when my clutch went to the floor and i had to drive home without it. but now like i said ive got an excelent running jeep without pouring money into it.
  14. My advice would be look for a fix up comanche. I understand the appeal of a vehicle in "running condition" but runing isn't always as it seems. I bought mine with seemingly everything wrong with it, but I knew the engine was good, so after replacing all the hoses the belt all the fuses the radiator tank my clutch master cylinder and a few cosmetic things i have a very nicely running jeep for a very good price, and sence most the things i replaced would probobly cause trouble anyway (because they were mostly plastic) i didnt spend any money i wouldn't have otherwise. It also came with a new clutch and new tires. It does have its downs however. No headliner, terrible paint, a few dents here and there, and its ugly as sin, but thats my style. I don't look for a show piece in a pickup truck i just need something usefull and thats exactly what i have. I hope this was somewhat helpful.
  15. sorry to get off topic but ive gotta say i love that you sold most of your things but still held on to the super nintendo. :clapping: I'm only 18 but ive been playing snes my whole life and would definately bring mine with me if were so inclined as to run off to china. Good luck with your jeep though just to stay on topic. God bless
  16. exactly what i was saying. theres no reason to try to buy and piece together all those extra parts when you could just buy a whole jeep fairly inexpensively and transfer all the parts over knowing that they work together. then you have your whole jeep in working order without having to hunt all over creation to find what your looking for (aside from the jeep itself) and you won't have any problem piecing it together because its a simple gut and swap job.
  17. sounds like your looking at a fairly large job. i definately reccomend a 4.0 even though it does involve some metal working, but sence you want to convert it to 4wd and 5 speed you may be better getting a parts jeep in the first place so you have an engine, transmission, and fwd linkage that already works together. then you can just transfer what you need and possibly even put the old parts in the extra jeep and sell it back.
