My dad was introduced to a man once who had a Ford Jeep. During WWII Jeep was pumping out more jeeps than the could handle and ford helped them pick up some of the slack. The problem was Ford's version was almost identicle body wise (the jeep design and no roof), but had a ford engine and indepent suspension on both axles. The suspension caused nearly all of them to flip, and it killed a ton of people. The roads they were trying to drive these things on were hardly roads and when they hit a bump, jumped a hill, or fell in a rut they had the tendancy to recoil and land on top of the passengers. This is why I had never even heard of a Ford Jeep until yesterday, because there are very few still left. I found this very interesting and figurd other people would too.

My aunt had a jeep with aluminum doors. I know this because my dad tried to do some welding on it and it was obviously aluminum when he tried. It could have been just that year or something I'm not sure, but i was just making sure mine had no chance of being aluminum so thats good  thanks for all the support

Haha i guess I'm redneck/shade tree mechanic because i work in gravel but pull motors with a backhoe and tractors

I think I'll climb under it with a pick and see what I come up with. It isn't the most urgent thing because if I do find rust I don't have time to fix it. In the case I do find rust is my body steel or aluminum? I know several jeeps were made of aluminum.

so if i just take out the kick panels can pul it up enough to look under my pedals?

you guys arent very good at following gossip are you? he wouldnt win her back he broke up with her. the question at hand is is this days of our lives or the young and the wrestless? ;)

exactly. Trucks was cool with that stacey dude too, but now its another loud mouth guy who is more focused on being manly than being a mechanic. And i do agree with the other prior comment too about not mainstreaming mj's. it would be devistating for our group to be overrun by people who want one just because they were on that show and now they are willing to give 15k for a 500 dollar jeep. that wouldnt do at all :shake: :shake: :shake:

Fortunately tennessee is all rain no salt so this truck has no noticable rust. I have checked under the fender flares and all the little places you typically see rusted and so far have found no rust, but i would like to pull my carpet back to look make sure, particularly uner my clutch master cylindar because it was leaking when i got the truck. Fortunately it was just because the truck had been sitting for a while and all the seals went bad, but i would like to pul the carpet back reguardless. i just need tgo know if there is a way to look under it without taking out screws , and if not what is the quickest way to look under my pedals and in that general area?

I don't even watch those shows anymore. They used to be informative and interesting, now it is idiots that talk too loud and they are more interested in the parts they buy than how to put them on.

I have yet to pull up my carpet and check for rust, and was just wondering what is the quickest route to check for rust while taking as little things off my truck as possible?

what do you listen to when your driving/wheeling?
Squeegy410 replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in The Pub
My girlfriend likes to turn the radio on, but when I'm driving alone i don't listen to music normally, just the sound of a 4.0 pseudodualed into two tractor mufflers and the ocasional grind of a gear sence i don't like to use my clutch  -
So do you live on a reservation or just near one?

haha thats what i was thinking about doing. i have been wanting to fabricate my own tails anyway but that won't be til way in the future. my tails are old and foggy looking and i don't want the liability of breaking one and having to replace it haha. i'll keep an eye out around junk yards for tails. good job btw

I can't evem look at local classifieds for junk in TN. everyone takes the "One persons trash is another persons treasure" wayyyy to seriously. It is hilarious to look at local classifieds however due to the amazing grammar of my local bretheren. "Tuck four sail. Fone calls only, no e-male". ill poke around craigslist and find one like that so you know I'm not just exagerating.

Wonderfull build man i love it. I have a neighbor who works at a technical school in nashville. He always has them working on one if his tractors or something haha. Right now he has them working on our bull dozer, but they think it's his haha. Great gig though people get to learn how to do things and other people get things done for free. win win. But anyway i love the truck its gorgeous  -

if your alread overhauling it anyway you might as well just try it out. if anything it's a lesson well learned and you can't lose anything other than a little bit of time because you'll have to buy new ones if these don't work, but if they do you just saved money. -

D35 or D44? -
Finally nosed around and found the thing. Really easy fix. The wires were factory detachable. I suppose they expected everyone to unplug it. Thanks everyone
