  1. I always thought the glasspack on my brothers TJ sounded ricey :ack: . Flowmaster 40 or super 44 is the way to go definately, the 40 on my MJ sounds awesome, and it is hardly noticable when cruising (wind noise is WAY louder), and the super 44 my brother replaced the ricebox tube with on his TJ is louder and even more throaty sounding. I'm really beating on the glasspack, I can't stand the sound on anything but a V8, and contrary to belief they are very restrictive due to all the baffles causing turbulance inside... The only glasspacks Id ever run are thrush, because instead of louvers like in most glasspacks, they have a perforated tube. In fact I do run these glasspacks, on the Mustang though, love the sound on a V8.
  2. A 195 degree OEM T-stat from the stealership is what I run (and I work at oreillys). I would NEVER EVER run any T stat cooler than the OEM, not on an EFI engine anyhow. Your Tstat opens up at 195 so if the engine is getting hotter than that then the thermostat has nothing to do with that (assuming it is functioning properly). If you run a cooler tstat than it will stay in open loop mode permanently and your gas mileage will suck.
  3. Anyone know where I can get an inner shifter boot? Mine is trashed (explains that horrible draft I got in sub zero weather :( ) All the inner boots I find at the JY are torn up completely. Do the stealerships have them? Any idea of how much $$$ id be out from a dealership? Or have any of you clever fellows found a better solution for this problem? :help:
  4. I'm going to attempt to wear it at school.... Pick up all the ladies :chillin:
  5. :agree:
  6. Try unhooking your EGR solinoid and capping the line, that solved my idle issue
  7. Id just unhook the EGR solinoid, and bypass the ballast resistor
  8.
  9. Though, I have no idea what year jeep it came out of, it came as a spare part with my MJ
  10. Yeah it is, its not doing me any good, ill just give you the whole thing if you want. I'm gonna be pretty busy until Thursday this week, then I could probably send it
  11. Personally I wouldnt do a 96, 96 was the only year for OBD II in that style, and there are gonna be a lot of hard to find parts, if youre wanting to do OBD II Id go 97 and newer
  12. I have one, where are you located, if youre around here you can pick it up, or if you pay shipping ill send it to you
  13. Does anyone know what the exact spacing for the spring perches on a D44?
  14. Its possible, but usually would be making a sqealing if it were
  15. What's it out of? An exploder I hope
  16. :hijack: Hey 87warrior, where are you located, just realized youre in the area
  17.
  18. Well I did it, it all fit in fine.... However my hubs are shot, and have enough play to where the rotor spreads the pads... and I have no front brakes... I started working on it at 2 p.m. yesterday and finished at 2 a.m. all in all the front axle removal was a piece of cake, nothing seized or broken. Swapping the spindles was a pain, had to replace two ball joints while I was at it (was too broke for the others, but those were the bad ones) I ended up reusing all the steering linkages that were on the MJ, and we really only encountered minor hiccups during the swap (non working front brakes aside) Now anyway I have a non-disco axle with gearing to match the D44 I'm putting in the rear soon. Also I added some 1.5 in spacers in the front to help level out the extreme rake I had from the lift shackles... After I get rid of these hubs I think ill be happy with the result
  19. Id never do a draw through setup, theyre horribly inefficient, seeing as they superheat the fuel coming in
  20. Yeah i meant swap knuckles, and the brakes are missing on the new axle, i can't afford to replace them, and the brakes on the old one are brand new, Id rather have the new setup, but what can you do?
  21. Sorry Typo, its a 97 and it is a high pinion... So its not going to be possible to swap the spindles over and use the old style brakes?
  22. After a Axle U Joint change fiasco, i am currently left with a 2wd MJ, and I have recently acquired a free Dana 30 front end. Now this is from what I've been told was around a 87 model, definitely not from a TJ and has U joints on the axle shafts so couldnt be from a ZJ? Its non disco, and 3.55 geared, which also entices me since my MJ is currently a 3.07 Gear, and I have a 3.55 geared XJ dana 44 sitting in my backyard that needs perches and is ready to bolt in. So this week I was planning on doing the front end swap, I will be reusing my current spindles as I am broke and the brakes currently on my MJ have less than 200 miles on them. Anyway to the question, does anyone see any issues that might arise, or for any reason would this not bolt in?
  23. My brothers roommate has a pristine 87 Eliminator, which made me always want one, but i was cursed with a dakota... This was about the fifth MJ i looked at and the stars aligned just right, paid $1200
