  1. ...I jump started a Buick :dunno:
  2. :jump:
  3. FWIW I know they made TH400s with a Jaguar bolt pattern in the XJS
  4. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  5. I've seen three or four 2.5 5 speed dakotas at the junkyard, so they are around...
  6. Comanche was in
  7. :clapping:
  8. So was one of those other "2-3" vehicles the Cherokee? Just wondering since it would stand to reason that a MJ would be safer than an XJ in a rear end collision, since youve got a whole lot more space between you and the car. Since the front is nearly identical I would think a front/side collision would be the same.
  9. Is it a bad thing that I think this is kinda cool? I feel like a BA driving around a deathtrap... Of course to all those teenagers needing an excuse to their parents why they need to lift their jeep 15 feet (including myself) tell them its because right now when that honda Tbones you it will probably kill you instead of going under your chassis
  10. I stand corrected
  11. I'm wondering though, if you are going to have issues mounting a transverse engine (99% of Ecotechs are) longitudinally. It might be a much easier swap if you used an engine from a pontiac solstice or saturn sky as they are mounted longitudinally in that application.
  12. I used a vacuum bleeder on my '87 2.5 after I replaced the external slave. It worked fine. 87 wouldn't be an external slave, did you swap it from an internal? He has an AX-5, I believe those were all external Anyways I would definately check all that first, but my clutch issue had nothing to do with a hydraulic problem. This happened: I was having the same symptoms as you at first. Grinding in reverse, until eventually it would no longer go into any gear. After dropping the tranny three times (my slave is internal) replacing the master 6 times, slave twice, all the lines, etc, I still had the same issue. As it turns out the welds on the bracket that connect the clutch pedal shaft to the master cylinder had broken enough to flex when the pedal was depressed, but would still press the master cylinder rod in slightly. Eventually when I was bleeding it the whole thing broke, and that is how I figured the problem out. So just check the welds on the clutch pedal and bracketry, I doubt it is the problem but it is worth a look.
  13. Nothing! 'cause I'm in college, and I'm broke... :wall:
  14. Roll bars, slider rear window, D44, just adding to the list
  15. I worked a block away from that truck, drove by it every day when I was running deliveries. Always meant to drop a card
  16. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/1979253226.html I have seen this MJ in person several times, not really sure about the $$$ though..... :brows: ...and yes there still is the D35 in the rear
  17. I think... For whatever reason, people seem to link socialism to a "big brother" type government. Now I am BY NO MEANS a socialist, but I this it is a common misconception fabricated by the media. Socialism is an economic system, not a type of government. I however agree that Socialist laws need to be removed and fast. I also believe that these scary 1984 laws need to be addressed fast. These laws can be made by the same people, but socialists arent necessarily phychotic all powerful government types.
  18. Under normal operation you will not be applying more pressure through your braking system. The brake pedal effort will be lessened so you won't press the pedal as hard for the same braking result. This will have NO effect on the lifespan of the pads. The M/C might say bendix on it, but if it came out of an A1 Cardone box (Oreillys reman master cylinder) then it was rebuilt in mexico. NOT OEM I would warranty it out at OReillys and ask instead for the brakebest select new master cylinder, you will pay the difference, but it is FAR less likely to fail. And you say you use it like a full sized truck, so in what way would it mean it's a car with a bed?
  19. IMO the factory XJ/MJ diesel was a POS. Unreliable, a pain to maintain, and no parts availability. Also the 1.9 TDI is too complex for my tastes. I think an ecotech MJ would be pretty cool though
  20. There is no way that will pass through the supreme court... Unless the called it the revised Patriot act and said it was a counterterrorism tool
  21. Youd have to put it back together. Parting out a truck like that should be illegal
  22. That just pisses me off.......
  23. But then he'll have 1-3/4" brakes instead of 2-1/2" brakes. The backing plates are different. You can't put the 2-1/2" drums onto a D35 with 1-3/4" brakes ... I've tried. If you put the 1-3/4" drums on a D44, the drums don't extend back as far as the backing plate and you won't have contact on the full width of the shoes. I realize, but another option he has instead of finding all the D44 drum parts he could swap all the D35 stuff on. Currently I've got D44 drums on my D35, don't ask me why, it's a really long story. Yes MjPioneer you will need the 10x2.5 inch shoes, make sure you don't get the D35 shoes, they are 10x1.75 inch
  24. :agree:
  25. Another option is you can pull the entire drum assemblys off your D35 and swap it to your D44
