Dana 30 axle gear swap
Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to jcComanche86lb's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
eveything will swap from one dana 30 to the other. just use all the brakes from one axle (doesnt matter which one, just use all the same brakes and unit bearings from one axle). Used gears, try it. I did. Its not like you are losing abunch of $$$ doing it. You'll know relatively quick whether it will work or fail, just keep an eye out for shavings in the fluid and bad bad noises. I would dump the CAD, one less thing to fail. Search around one here, somebody posred up a part # for the seal you will need. -
Here are the pictures of the WJ (per shelbyluvv request)

Has anyone done SOA with MJ main and XJ leafs?
Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to ncm1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just did this very thing today. :D My set-up is 2wd MJ main, the two middle leafs from the XJ (not the main or bottom XJ) and then the MJ over load. RuffStuff spring perches. It sits 1" lower than the front with used 4" Rough Country coils. can't tell you about ride because I don't have a driveshaft or shocks mounted yet! hope this helps! -
Dang Jay, thats alot of Shiner if youre taking it all up there!!!!!

H3RESQ's Dream MJ, the build continues...
Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to H3RESQ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I've always busted the eyes off, not the shaft right in the middle! No other damage on the shock anywhere? I can't tell how close it is the U-bolt plate, but maybe it shifted enough to hit that when it wrapped? :dunno: -
awesome! somebody else with beer sponsored updates!!!

yeah, my 91 pioneer was 2wd. well, I guess it still is without that front driveshaft! :(
-

Transmission is in, t-case is in minus shifter, front axle started. The tcase is from a TJ, so it has a slightly different clocking pattern which caused some interference with the body. After a little Thor action, all was better! with the 231 installed its close, but my Atlas is closer in my XJ so I am leaving it for now. some fool got carried away with the gear marking compound :fs1: he even painted my UCA gusset went to the JY and got me a new shifter boot and rubber-shield-whatever-thing :dunno: as soon as I dump some gear lube in the AX15 I can bolt that back on and put my midget console in traded a D44 housing for this Currie AntiRock, can decide if it should go in the MJ or XJ... The XJ need its more slid the 8.8 under the bed. It still needs to be stripped and new brakes need to be installed. I'm slowly getting there... :wrench: we had alot of fun Friday night this stuff was pretty good  Lucky Buhda beer from China - 78 replies

Yeah, they're not even close to fitting anywhere under the bed! I need to get the 8.8 in so I can figure the shock hoops out. *sawzallsmiley*- 78 replies

went to put the new transmission in tonight, but I forgot about the pilot bushing from the 74 cj that I need, so the transmission isn't in. Its a AX15 from a 92 yj. I decided to change the oil pan gasket because it had a slight seep. I don't know what the last guy put it on with, but I would up chiseling the oil pan off! It wouldn't budge! Then I had to use a wire wheel on an angle grinder to get all the old cork gasket off, cuz it was rock-hard and the razor blade scraper wasn't touching it! Then I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up the mess! Here are some random pics went to the local pick&pull and they had a xj with a Rubicon Express lift, so I took it my new shortbody 12" travel 7100s next to the stockers (these are going up front) and next to the 14" Foxs going in the back need a new shift boot, the old one was murdered :D old transmission. the internal slave was leaking tonight's update brought to you by SLAM!!!! I didnt take any pics of the oil pan fiasco, I personally would not like to see any of that ever again! :fs2: why do all the pics get the right side cut off? :dunno: what am I doing wrong?- 78 replies

Picked this up last summer for $600 not running. Hooked up two wires and it ran! (that little ceramic resistor on the drivers fender was cracked in half) I tootled around town in it and collected parts for a couple months until I got just about everything I need to swap it over to 4wd Its a 91 2wd 4.0 AX15 getting another AX15, a 231 from CC member Comanche County with an sye and 2-low kit, an 8.8 with 4.10s for the rear and a D30 up front with 4.10s and a Yukon Grizzly locker. The lift is all leftovers and hand-me-downs from friends and my XJ. The rear is just getting a simple SOA for now the truck Image Not Found basic manual everything my borrowed workspace the pile of some of the parts... getting started I got the rear axle out and then started pulling the front axle out but promptly busted my torx bit so I was stalled for the evening. not to mention all the going on! tonights update proudly brought to you by Shiner More to come SOON!

Wife's MJ
Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to reson46's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Looks good Willy. I've been needing to do that for long time on my big jeep. My T&T bracket constantly works itself loose all the time and I think that would help prevent that. :wrench:- 897 replies

Exxon Valdez Jeep replied to Sir Sam's topic in The Pub
Hey now! I've drove that road many times with no swaybars and aired down! :rotf: (Even in Texas people can't stay on their side of the line!) -
My other jeep, tons, rear 4 link, 4.7 stroker, Atlas, and 37s. As is current form, drove it to Moab and back twice. The MJ is patiently awaiting its turn.
