I've seen enough 4BT's and 3.3's that I'd know the difference.4BT all the way. My buddy also has a 6BT he's been debating about what to put it in... You could put it in a full size Jeep pickup (I'm about to part out my '73 J4000 because I rolled it and ruined the cab) The 304 that was in it MAY go into an '85 XJ 2dr shell I have (can't get title because the previous owner owes $$$ for back child support), but I need to sell something to make space for it or I'll have to scrap the body (I wanted to cut it off at the B pillar and weld it to a Comanche to get a supercab) I also have a 727/NP208J. The rad from the '73 J4000 was ruined, but it could be used as a model for a replacement rad. (I also have a rad from a 4.0L '93 Grand Cherokee) Anyone interested in maybe buying that pile of parts and offroad project or the '86 Comanche that the 4 cyl from the '85 XJ is going into, let me know. (It's near Reiter Trails, which is close to Seattle, WA) As for weight, if you toss the cast iron battleship intake for an aluminum one, that lightens the V8 by about 50 lbs.

I use my J4000 for anything bigger than an XJ. (sometimes for XJs too) Image Not Found XJs don't even begin to give it a workout. This is a '90 E350 cube van loaded with TVs. The 7.3 diesel popped a rod and I towed it 150 miles home for my buddy, then did the motor swap for him (for ca$h that is!) Image Not Found

I used to have a '60 convert and a '61 we made into a retractable hard top. (then a windstorm dropped trees across them. Beginning to think I have bad luck with Fords as well as Chev small blocks!)

Swap the intake with all the sensors and you're golden! Just make sure the ports are completely covered (intake ports were raised from 4.2L to '87 to '90 4.0L, then HO raised them again)

Want to do an upgrade? Get a NV241 OR Rok Lok case from an '03 up Rubicon. FACTORY 4:1 low range, 23 spline (bolts up to AX-15 or '91 up AW4 and even FSJ 727!) Find a used one or get brand new from http://jbconversions.com Forgot to mention that it's built with diesel tcase parts and comes with a fixed yoke new!

CAD fix (Cheap Posi-Loc System)

I'm in Totem Lake (Kirkland) and work at NAPA in Bellevue except thur/fri -
What tires are you running? I don't want them on mine! (I had early BFGs on my '86 and they slid pretty easy in the rain, but not snow or dry) I wish they still made Big O 33/9.50/15 tires! My current set has over 120,000 miles on them! (got hit on the RH front tire and the misalignment ate 2 to crap in no time!)

Noid says no signal fuel injection not working

Depending on where you are, I have an '88 tank with pump in it for $50 (I'm in Seattle) -
They are same length as stock? I know you can get a caster adjustment kit for the ZJs (I had one with the kit installed) which would help for lifting (equal to lengthening the arms)

Pretty easy. Regional works for all the other lists I'm on. PNW, NE, SW, etc.

My '86 longbed with 2.5L, AX5, NP207 and 4.10 axles with 235/75/15 tires had a GVW of 6000 lbs when I headed out for Ouray, CO in '02.

selec-trac vs. command trac
carnuck replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The suspension will wind up with Command trac due to the differences in tire heights and turning radius. Eventually the leafsprings in rear will twist enough to shatter the chain or something else in the case. Command trac NP207, NP231 (NP208 from full size '80 to '88, and Dana 20 '79 and older) Selectrac NP242, NP228, NP229 (New Process version of Quadratrac is NP219 in FSJs and NV249 in ZJs and the '73 to '79 Quadratrac is BW 1339) -
2000 and up 4.0L have coils on each spark plug. Won't work easily in a Renix rig.

CAD fix (Cheap Posi-Loc System)
carnuck replied to Landoloops's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I think I have a couple here still (in Seattle) from either XJ, MJ, FSJ or AMC Eagle I have parted in the past. -
I meant to say "you 4 cyl or V6 auto guys". Sorry about that! The brain moved faster than the typing fingers!

  How can so much happen to one guy? Nice time for the wife to tell you it's over. Wow what a story, glad you are ok! There is a LOT more craziness to my life story (I grew up on a farm, did the rodeo circuit, skydiving and spent some time in the military). Those were just the interrupts to my driving! LOL!

Do you happen to know where? 4wheelparts had them last time I popped by one of their shops. http://oly4x4.com should have them too.

New Brake Lines and Fittings
carnuck replied to ChiefJosh's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can buy metric fitting adapters at most autoparts stores in the Weatherhead section. (NAPA has them in stock most of the time) No benefit with bigger lines. Just more fluid. -
It doesn't have the EFI already in it, and there isn't any room under the dash to put it in (due to AC and wiper arms in the way) plus it's a LOT more labor intensive to wire in (HO is all under the hood and weather proof with better connectors) I was thinking along the lines of just using the HO throttlebody on the Renix manifold but my mind wandered before I mentioned adding the knocksensor to the HO efi. (forgot that important point!)

You could have a NP231 or NP207 tcase with the 2.8L and std trans. It should be a 21 spline (count the teeth to be sure. A few rare T5 23 splines were used '84 to '86 when AX trans weren't available due to slowed shipping from Japan) Here's a thought for some of you guys. A Jeep 4.0L with 9xx automatic (you'd need a flexplate from a YJ with EFI and 3 speed auto to get the correct flexplate) then make a CPS hole in the bellhousing (or find a non-computerized version 999 with the stock hole) and put it into an earlier rig with EFI (or just a 4.2/4.0L with a carb setup and 4x4 904 trans) It will bolt up to the tcase in a 4 cyl 3 speed auto rig (hey! You could even do a 727 and AMC V8!) Just don't bolt them to a NP207 or it'll probably scatter first time you shift it into gear! LOL!
-
Now I'm curious if I can run the Renix setup with HO computer (the HO intake won't clear my brake booster in the Jtruck or Spirit, which means Hydroboosting the brakes to clear it)

She drives 2 miles to work and has to warm the car up first. Total waste of time and fuel. (in summer she plans to walk to work on nice days but her past leg injury may not let her)

I still want to take a Comanche longbox (and shortbox bed) and Cherokee 2 dr to make a bigger cab, then lop off the extra frame at the back.
