  1. 92 4.0 std It ran fine in July then sat for a few weeks. Then it was very difficult to start and ran VERY rough, sounded like missing cylinder. Anyway, plugs and wires and distributor cap and rotor and O2 sensor replaced. I checked all hoses that appear to be vacuum related and they seem ok. I cleaned the idle air control valve, it was very dirty. Yesterday, after multiple long cranking sessions it started, and idled for a few minutes. Touching the peddle resulted in a stall. A little later after long cranking session, it started and I was able to run at 2500+ rpm for a few moments, followed by a stall. After it runs awhile and stalls, I can unplug the football size vacuum thing and it hisses a little bit. Today I couldn't get it to start. After a long cranking session, quickly checking the fuel valve resulted in no pressure. Turning the key to on, I could hear fuel returning to tank. What next? edit.... I'll check the ground near the rear taillight, and try to determine if fuel pump is running. (standard disclaimer... Dad borrowing son's Comanche Club account, while charged with running the Comanche every few weeks while son is out of state)
  2. Thanks for the info. My son (86customanche) was right, this group is great!
  3. A continuing quest to learn about the Comanche I'm keeping running for a couple of years while son is out of town... What is this line entering the transmission area, and what is the plug or end that is protruding? Both are easy to move around. Many thanks!
  4. It's running better now, or at least for the 15 seconds I ran it. I actually had to use the key to turn it off! I pulled all the vacuum hoses and checked for blockage and cracks. I removed and cleaned the idle air control (IAC) valve; it was very dirty.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions. Need to learn what CAD, MAP, TB, EGR, VC, etc... are. (Note, Dad here trying to get the truck running to exercise it every couple of weeks while owner son is out of state for a few years).
  6. With new plugs it still has difficulty running smooth and usually cuts off.
  7. I had already pulled the plugs (see picture) when I discovered the disconnected hose. If that tiny hose could cause the problem I'm having then certainly it should have been better attached, i.e. Clamped, tied, screwed into place. But indeed a good question, but I'll probably go ahead and install the new plugs before the next attempt to run it.
  8. Thanks, I've reattached the HOSE in the proper spot.
  9. This HOSE (wire) is from the firewall on the passenger side and is not connected, where does it go? The engine starts, runs ok for a few seconds, then very rough, rpm drops to a couple hundred, then either cuts off or returns to normal. Sounds like a missing cylinder for a few moments.
  10. Ive added myself, but won't find my Comanche in TX. Ive lived in Bryan for 3 months now and haven't seen a single one.
  11. beer always makes the old stuff come off. But good luck. I have that lift on my 92, wasnt too bad
  12. Brian 92 4.0 5" SOA recently moved to Bryan, TX. don't have my truck in the state yet but I'm willing to help out on other local projects
  13. We'll we are now sitting in a hotel in Shreveport only about 5 hours from the final destination. Now I have a dilemma. When we arrive, we have lots of 'stuff' to unload and only myself, my wife, and both of our middle aged fathers to do so. I hope to find some able bodies in the area to throw some beer at to help unload. Bryan TX after lunch tomorrow. Be there.
  14. Man I love the Javelins. can't wait to see the finished product. Now get some internet so we can see your progress :fs2:
  15. I have the rear bumper on my MJ. You actually use a pic of my truck on your website  . :MJ 1: . I have the one from the main rear bumper pick with the chipping away grey tailgate
  16. Not yet. Not for another 2 months. Our apartment lease starts August 7. I won't have my truck with me but I'm looking forward to seeing yours and others out in Texas, with hopefully no rust.
  17. Lucky, that's what I thought it was, but then I really looked at the gap and could stick my finger through it no problem. The seal around the door frame actually looks to be in pretty good shape.
  18. Is that a Nates 4x4 rear bumper? Looks just like mine. What did you do there for the license plate? Truck is sweet BTW
  19. That's one hell of a truck for the price. IMO Id rebuild or tune up the 360 and run it as is. Unless you want it to tow with, I wouldn't bother a swap, just more work than is necessary. Great find though.
  20. Between the seal, and the load of RTV I put in what I think is the right place, no leaks. Well I say that but there is still water getting into the cab, just through the door seal. When as closed as it'll go, about a .5" gap at the top, so sideways rain gets in easily. Fixing the hinges and rehanging the door is near the top of my TO DO list. But the seal sure seems to be a good fix for like 11 bucks.
  21. Id say its fairly loud. However with the swampers, and not quite smoothing running, it was going to be loud anyways.
  22. very cool. x2 on the wiper deal.
  23. Got a few things done recently, moving to TX in a couple months and won't be able to take my truck with me so I'm trying to get as much done as I can before the move. Found a very rusted spot on my firewall and covered it with lots of RTV hoping my leak problem would be solved. Also decided to replace the hood gasket for good measure. can't be too careful when it comes to rust. Also, went to the junkyard a few days ago, picked up a replacement electric fan, I had a broken blade on it, and also picked up a drivers side fender for my 97+ swap. Slowly gathering the parts for it. Just need the header, pass. fender, and headlight harness.
  24. Saw a rather familiar looking vehicle in the Kroger parking lot today, so I stuck a CC card under the wiper sending them this way hopefully. Not the first time I've seen it in that parking lot, just the first time I had a card on me. My guess is that it's an employee who uses it as a DD.
