1986 MJ 2.5L 4x4 | "Heavy Four"

Did that make it a little easier than cutting out all of the original rocker? -
:agree: When I have cash, it seems like I spend it way faster than spending money on a card. It's like I somehow think it's free money and just throw it around.

:hmm: I'm not following you there thats the red stuff painted inside your rear end housing. helps with oil flow in motors and heat also... :typing: and the JD is for getting sloppy drunk whilst painting said red stuff....!!!!!!!! Ah now I understand  It's pretty sad. The off-white that has come through since the red is starting to peel actually looks pretty decent condition considering it's 25 years old. A real shame they ruined it. oh well

That's a good looking wallet. Wish mine had that much cash in it  What you need is an atm and deposit that sh*t

Where is the best place to buy donor jeep xj
86customanche replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just keep looking. Ask around your local shops too, might get lucky with them and take one off their hands cheap. I thought I found my donor but when I got it home it was too nice to tear apart so I'm going to drive it for the winter and sell it for a profit :D -
Rockdrummer93's '99 MJ Trail Rig Build
86customanche replied to Rockdrummer93's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Looks like a good truck to get started with. Looking forward to the progress  -
Doesnt look to bad for that price IMO. I'd wheel the crap out of it then part it out
-
I have not checked. But would that be it? The lights worked more recently than not working. They just went out for about a week, very strange.
-
I'll have to pay attention next week when it's on tv non stop. It's kinda funny how you don't see it until your looking for it.

That doesn't look fun. You're such a good bro

Lift setups...Lets see em
86customanche replied to lifted_xj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
what size swampers are those? I'm looking to run a similar setup -
I have about 215xxx on the odometer. I've done valve seals, and piston rings/head gasket next. Runs great!

Update: I bought a white 98 XJ thinking I would use it as a donor for a 97+ swap but I drove it home and realized that it was too nice to tear into. So I'm fixing up the Cherokee for the next couple weeks and going to sell it and hopefully make a profit and start my search over for a good donor for my MJ. I'm looking for a white 97+ for body pieces incl. doors and interior.

What should I do?
86customanche replied to 86customanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've definitely thought it over many many times and :wall: so frustrating. However, the XJ motor isn't in good enough shape in my mine to make it worth the swap and I am fairly certain I can sell it for about 1000 above the buy price with only about 200 more in parts put in. -
What should I do?
86customanche replied to 86customanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That is what I'm gonna do now. Last night I started to look at the rough idle, took off and cleaned the throtle body, a little dirty but not terrible, then started looking at just about everything else. The PO had replaced the spark plugs and wires at somepoint not too long ago but the engine definitely seemed to be missing. So I got out a pressure tester on the radiator and it's losing pressure(head gasket could use a replacing but that's later) Turns out that when he was installing the sparkplugs, he dropped one and didn't regap it. The thing was completely closed :shake: so I gapped it and it runs a whole lot better. The rod knock is still there sometimes so I will look into that later this week. But I will not be scrapping this XJ, body and now motor are in too good of shape. -

What should I do?
86customanche replied to 86customanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Here's some pics I took today: from the front from the rear very clean under the hood too. interior has been steam cleaned. The PO said it used to belong to a VDOT employee and there are a couple holes in the roof from antennas that have been plugged with silicone and do not leak but are ugly when you look at them closely. -
Forgot about the shipping :wall: It might be tough to fine a complete kit for that price. But it's possible to piece together from friends/jy/cc members cheaper than a complete kit
-
good deal? (different)
86customanche replied to ftpiercecracker1's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sell that front to me That's a great deal if they come geared the same and aren't rusted out too bad. Might have to redo the brakes but thats not too terribly expensive. As far as putting them on your truck, you would just have to get the mounts welded on in the right place and possibly new(or cut) driveshafts. I would buy a front 44 for that price anyday. -
Rusty's SOA kit is 550 plus shipping. http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.m ... sus_xj_kit
