Is a 2wd 4.0L still capable o/r?
88pioneer replied to zzze's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm assuming its 2wd by you wanting to do a conversion? If it is, a lot of people say that a 2wd with a locker is more capable then an open 4wd, so that may also be something to look into -
I got a currie bar. I like it a lot

88pioneer replied to 87Chief's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Search is your friend... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21536&hilit=bed+dimensions And by tops, i'm guessing a fiberglass caps. there was a thread on this, it all depends on whos selling it. NOS caps are hard to find viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22332 -
If you want to run a side dump you would have to turn it out pretty far up, by the door. When i bought my 92 it had a side dump that was run in between the frame and leaf spring :ack: . Rock magnet for sure. If you don't off road with it, it probably wouldn't be a problem

I currently have a rusty's air tube and a cone filter for my intake. I was looking for ideas to make an intake that pulls air from cooler spots. I was considering running tubing from the intake to the whole behind the headlight (picture 1). Cutting a hole in the engine bay pointing straight down (picture 2). or running it to the DS fender which i don't have a picture of, but i got that idea from my buddies chevy pickup which pulls cool air from the inner fender. I'm leaning towards 3 but looking to see what other things people have done Image Not Found Image Not Found

1990 Rebirth ('97 Conversion)
88pioneer replied to Rymanrph's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I like the looks of that thing, all black . And for the front end shake, it was the universals on my front drive shaft, now i have no front end shake at all  . Hopefully thats what yours is too -
first check all your steering components and make sure they are all tight, and in good working order

Nothing later than 90. I know 86 and earlier won't work, and for some reason i think there is something with 87 that won't work but not sure.

Theres been lots of debate about lift from a spring over. It depends on your axle and how old your springs are. I have heard 7 with new springs and anywhere in between 5 to 7. Mine is only at right around 5 because my springs are old.

:agree: with the lack of power. However, i feel that these are the only true jeeps that are still being built. My buddies mom has a black 4 door rubicon and its nasty . 44 front and rear selectable lockers and BFG mud terrains. I like them

A few interior questions
88pioneer replied to 88pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
 thanks. I knew about the clips, but didn't know about the velcro. Appreciate it -
I plan on pulling my headliner backing sometime in the next week and before i get into it, i was wondering how its held in. I don't want to damage it since it is in relatively good shape. My other question was on the rear speakers (b pillar) what size are they? i think 6 x 4 but just making sure, slowly starting to upgrade things now that most mechanical things are fixed

No Fuel Pressure - What should I check first??
88pioneer replied to centralnc's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
could just be a clogged fuel filter, especially since its been sitting, or the fuel pressure regulator -
i'll see if i can take a recording today, gotta get something with good sound quality to record it

the other day while driving to school i heard a nice thud and then got a real bad vibration in the front end. Took it home, and went to school. Came home looked at it, looked like a problem with the PS axle shaft. Pulled the whole axle apart, and didn't find anything besides enough sand to build a sandcastle left in the axle tubes :ack: . Then i remembered that my front drive shaft universal was making all kinds of noise a few days before this all happened. Checked and sure enough the universal was totally shot. Got a drive shaft from the junkyard today and put it in. Not only did it fix the shake, it took away all of my front end shake  :clapping:  :chillin: :D . Now all i need is an alignment and the front end should be much better than it has been.

i know a few of us have been talking about going to Rausch Creek over the summer, but i figured i would start this topic to get it out a little more an gain some more interest. The general plan sounds like the 23rd of July, i think jeepskool will be there. I was also planning on heading to the Jersey pines for a little bit of FREE wheeling through the woods. Not sure when, but the more the merrier for both
