  1. It would be awesome if you could track down your old '90 Comanche. There seems to be quite a few MJs for sale in your area. Do you still have the VIN? I could imagine it sitting in a barn somewhere in your area. That would be quite a story...
  2. What's wrong with the ebay radiators? Granted the one I got for $63 shipped was plastic/aluminum and single core, but it was better quality than the 22 yr old OEM plastic/aluminum single core. Plus, it still had the Renix temp sensor bung in the side. Have had mine for almost a year with no issues and my temp needle never reaches 1/2 mark. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-92-93-94-95-96-97-98-99-00-01-JEEP-CHEROKEE-RADIATOR_W0QQitemZ280378934426QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item4147e3049a
  3. :agree: With Eagle and Pete Can you post pics? When I bought my '88 the exterior was in terrible shape. Everything was there but there was surface rust throughout (defective factory paint). The original owner put indoor/outdoor latex paint on the roof and hood, but I think it did more harm than good. The roof was so bad that I thought that I was going to grind through it in some places. I'm still kickin myself for not having a camera at the time to take before pics. However, it was always a southern truck, and the underside is pristine. The point is, if it isn't rusted through, it can be fixed, and the parts that are too far gone can be replaced. Do you have welding/fab skills? If the uniframe is in good shape, I would say go for it. I would try to talk him down to anything under $2000 (though I would be tempted to pay what he was asking  ). That truck already has the AX-15 and 4x4.
  4. Did you try craigslist?
  5. I'm thinking about doing this with a spare set of 2wd springs I have. Can I reuse the rebound clips? Will the original center bolt be long enough with the extra main leaf in there? If not, what size clips or bolt would I need? Thanks
  6. Dunno about the spindle swap. But I have a '97 D30 with 3.55 gears installed and it all bolted right up, including the brake lines.
  7. PM'd
  8. I've had the radiator almost a year. It is better quality than the OEM single core plastic one that lasted 21 years. No complaints for the price. My temp gauge never gets to halfway mark anymore.
  9. It does, its on the driverside of the radiator right above the lower radiator hose inlet. Actually the radiator I bought was $63 Shipped! This is it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/91-92-93-94-95-96-97-98-99-00-01-JEEP-CHEROKEE-RADIATOR_W0QQitemZ280378934426QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item4147e3049a You can see from the picture it has the bung for the Renix temp sensor in the middle of the radiator below the radiator cap, right above the lower radiator hose inlet
  10. When I converted to "open" cooling I bought the cheapest 91+ ebay single core plastic radiator I could find (it was close to $100 shipped IIRC). By luck, it still had the bung in it for the Renix coolant temp (electric fan control) sensor. I simply removed the plug and the Renix sensor threaded right in. A solution for the Renix temp sensor placement would be the toughest part of the swap because AFAIK most 91+ radiators eliminated that bung for that sensor. When I was rummaging through the junkyard awhile back I ran across a Renix that was converted. It had a short piece of steel pipe plumbed inline with the lower radiator hose with a threaded fitting in it for the Renix sensor. It looked custom made. I've found that a coolant bottle from a 1995 Suzuki Sidekick fits nicely in the space where the old pressure bottle was. Don't forget to grab a radiator cap  and about 6ft of small hose to run to the bottle.
  11. Grab a V8 ZJ Tie rod. It's cheap and beefy. Or, Before I'd spent $250+ for that, I would look into a WJ high steer setup conversion, sourcing JY parts of course.
  12. Thanks guys! I have scavenged a whole black interior from an '87 MJ in the yard (minus the carpet and headliner). Got all the pass side dash pieces that were removable, but need a whole dash with driverside in good shape. Thanks
  13. Good to know Eagle, thanks for posting this. Agree, much better than 20+ year old rusty u-bolts. Yeah, the spring shop I went to told me they were 9/16... IMO the XJ ones are skinnier because of the SOA set-up as they are pretty much there to hold it all together, and not support the weight like the MJ/Dakota SUA setup. The Dakota spring plates are one piece and over twice as thick as the MJ spring plate/doubler setup. They are formed and tend to not bend in on itself like the weak IMO MJ plates.
  14. Don't know if you are staying SUA, but if you are I found that the donor XJ U-bolts were not long enough (The Mopar perches are a good bit taller than the originals) and they were not 9/16" thick like the stock MJ. Rather than paying $80+ bucks to get some custom made I picked up some 2000 Dodge Dakota 2wd U-bolts and Spring Plates and welded the MJ shock mounts to them:
  15. Here's pics of mine. It's from a 82-93 S-10 Shortbed.
  16. Theres a guy selling TWO waggys in my area for $1500. The one that runs is kinda beat, but the parts ones body is in great shape.... Ugh I need a bigger garage!
  17. You can reuse the original perches if you remove them carefully... You need ones for a 3" axle tube. I used Mopar Performance Spring perches. Part # P4120074 . Got em for $18 shipped from mopardiscountparts.com They are slightly longer and taller than the original perches.
  18. Stroke it and get some 31s. :brows:
  19. Option A. I like the turbine style better. I just picked up a set of 10 spoke turbines in worse shape than the 10 hole flat face ones in my sig pic. I like em that much more.
  20. My BA10/5 likes to pop out of reverse! :rotfl2:
  21. I converted to 91+ style "open cooling" when I replaced my original radiator and hissing/pissing hoses and tank. Temp needle would routinely go up to 3/4 on the temp gauge (hot). I bought a 195 Stant superstat tstat when I converted, but drilled two small holes in it at 12 and 6 o'clock. My temp gauge never gets to the halfway mark now. Only, between 1/4 and 1/2 max. Take alot longer to warm up.Does this sound normal? Starting to think that it is running too cool now :hmm: Sorry for the slight highjack...
  22. IIRC 4x4 MJs are 1/2" shorter vs. 2wd.
  23. Thanks for posting that jimoshel. The MJ is wider at the front, could you get that measurement too? S-10 is same with front and rear, but it fits the MJ bed well enough. I just bought a highrise S-10 cap.
  24. They are 5 x 4.5, but I think the offset is going to be way off (FWD Dodge Caliber platform)
  25. http://www.kanopykingdom.com/truck_bed_size_charts.htm Don't think it will be long enough. You want one from a 82-93 S-10.
