  1. Hi All, While checking for rust under the carpet as suggested, I find this under the passenger side next to the trans hump: :???: It appears to have been painted the factory original color. Is it some sort of tool left in by mistake at the factory? :???: Thanks
  2. Hi All, For those who posted, thanks for the help in my "Need help, Is this MJ worth...?" thread. I picked up an MJ on the 4th of July. :USAflag: Bought it from the Original owner for $1000. It is a 1988 Short bed Pioneer 4x2 with the 4.0L and 5-speed. Only 100,292 miles, everything works and the A/C blows COLD. The underbody and frame look no more that 3yrs old, not a spec of rust. The interior, except for the headliner, is mint. Even got the original owners manual and cig lighter. But... the paint is shot and there are surface rust issues (not bubbling paint) on the roof, at the top of the windshield and at back of the cab surrounding the window. The are NO dents or fender or floorpan rust. The original owner took meticulous care of the mechanicals and interior, but ignored the exterior :huh???: It runs so damn nice, but looks like hell... Pics to follow soon. And anybody got any good paint/body tips? Or any good links in the forum? Thanks :chillin:
  3. Great advice! thank you. I would like to restore one to/find one in original condition and then go from there. GO 'BAMA!!!!!! But yea it's a bummer, I'm not like that though... Awesome looking truck you've got there  How so? Thanks
  4. Thanks for all the replies! Yeah, I think he is asking too much... dasbulliwagen, I will try that and see what happens (he'll probably throw me off his property) there is another '91 4.0L 2wd for sale in the area w/79k miles, but he wants $4250! and it has a windshield leak... :wall:
  5. Thanks for the reply. I'm located in South. They aren't all that rare, but not common either. Most have been turned into muddin machines. I'm looking for a stock example. I agree with the 4.0L
  6. Hi all, Awesome site you have here! I've wanted an MJ since I first had a chance to drive one 15 years ago when I was a teenager. It was a black 4.0L eliminator. I was amazed with the power, and at the time it was one of the strongest small pickups available. Anyways, I have a chance to buy a nice '87 2.5L 4speed 2wd Commanche. The owner is firm on his $1800 asking price. The chassis has 187,000 miles on it, and the engine was rebuilt around 2 yrs ago. The owner doesn't use it as a daily driver, so it hasn't had much miles put on it since the rebuild. It looks like the rear bumper was replaced and there is a small dent in the passenger rear corner with some surface rust. Otherwise the owner says it has no rust anywhere else. The paint is original and alittle faded on the hood and roof. It has factory A/C, but it doesn't work. KBB says an '89 with 187k miles in good condition is worth about $700, this is an '87 (kbb doesn't go back that far) So is the price out of line??? Willl the body be worn out with that kind of mileage??? Thank you and all opinions welcome!
