  1. Try this one: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16295
  2. You should listen to that gut feeling of yours. There is a reason that your gut made you perk up at the CJ. YES! Spend the money! Even if you don't rebuild it, which you should, a few well placed advertisements will provide a sale. On the other hand, if you put the snow plow on the front of the 510a, your business would increase just for the sheer "cool" factor. Your customers would be begging you to plow with it. :D
  3. Just out of curiosity, what did you get from Grainger's?
  4. Pete, you want to change the mind of a woman!?!?!?!?!? :shake: Might be easier to get her a husband and stick him with the problem. ;)
  5. Does this translate to "Well, I tried the real cheap and dirty fix.....didn't work. I'm going to just replace the bell housing and move on." ?????? Or does it translate to "Curse you floor jack!!!! I am not happy with your efforts. How dare you behave that way! Now I have to buy another part!" ????? C-12, I figure it's the first translation, right? :wavey:
  6. Had to go to O'Reilly's anyway so I checked. They didn't have them in the HELP! section anymore, but have them look up Bussmann #UCB-6. It now comes with break-off legs for varying depths. Should be good to go. Didn't think to check on price, sorry.
  7. I can't locate it in their system, but I am almost positive that O'Reilly Automotive has it. I can't remember, but a long time ago I needed one and I think I got it there. It not like it was only used in the late 80's. My 95 XJ has it for the front wiper. It may not be in their parts system tied to certain vehicles. Or you could go to the dealer parts window.
  8. Ok boys.......Any update to the ideas? Are we any closer to moving forward? Are you really going to make me do this??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMC-JEEP ... erchandise Or maybe this??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/jeep-gri ... 0574187115 Or even this???? It's "Silvery". http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-JEEP ... erchandise :D :D :D
  9. That was where I was at. I had the steering wheel tilted down as far as it would go and had to do some serious convincing to get the bezel out. It was even worse going back in. I was ready to go back to my younger days with the Irish temper and explain the situation to the stupid thing. Next time, I'm gonna reach up and unbolt the whole steering assy. and drop it. We'll see which way is less frustrating. Luckily, with full gauges, new radio and working switches I shouldn't have to get back into the dash for awhile.
  10. Just exactly what was the super duper trick that I should have known to get the gage bezel out of the dash on a 95 XJ? I would not last long at an car audio installation shop. I would be throwing a classic hissy fit in short order, I guarantee! :headpop: I did finally get the silly thing out (and back in) so that I could install a new radio, but both halves of the steering cover came off, excess amounts of sweating was done, there were a few choice words, plastic was bent to conform to my will, NOTHING was broken, but geez that was not the easy way. I really don't care for the newer style steering wheel especially with the airbag, but I won't change it to the old style right now. If I have to get that bezel out again, ALL BETS ARE OFF! :fs1: The 88 MJ here is so easy to work with, I got spoiled. :D
  11. Ok, I have to make two points about this (really three): #1 The written english language has so many variants that sometimes original meanings are not conveyed so further definition and explanation are required to reveal the proper meaning. This has just happened here before my very eyes. I salute you guys for making further explanations to make your meanings clear. This just cannot be conveyed properly using shorthand "text talk". #2 This just provides another example of the type of forum that this is. Experiences and opinions matter but they do not have to have the ego's and hurt "feelings" to have a discussion. #3 Timely information is VERY helpful. I just bought another XJ and I was thinking about buying three sets of hooks for the two XJs and the MJ at my house just to have on the vehicles in case. I have now been educated and will have to save up my nickels and dimes, but I will be better off in the long run. Thanks Guy's!!!!!!!!
  12. Rush hour traffic can be a pain in your area (all six cars worth). :D Maybe between your lead foot on the skinny pedal and the wide pedal it got cornfused with the brake pedal switch and what it should be doing?!?!?!?!? :dunno:
  13. Hey, that's cool!!!!! One word of advice from an older fella who has been married for awhile...............DO NOT start the "rubbing greasy fingers" war.......however if SHE starts it then you must finish it. :brows: Laughing and giggling doesn't get wrenching done, but it is a good way to spend time together. :D
  14. Cesarean ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :dunno: :waving: Running away now.......
  15. Thanks folks. I really didn't think I was just being cheap, just "careful" about where I spend money. When I get into the engine bay, I'll check the radiator real close before I try to "fix" the overflow tube. Don, yes a new cap is in order. The old one is stamped 16 lbs. and looks like it has been there a few years. I learned the hard way that radiator caps do wear out and should be replaced every so often.
  16. The XJ I just bought today has one of those real Jeep AM/FM/Cassette decks. The AM side works, the FM doesn't find any stations.....I don't even think I have any tapes left. Even if you were to find one that still works, it's on borrowed time.
  17. Starting a new job in a couple of weeks and I needed a new vehicle to DD because I don't want to feed the 1 ton chevy with the 454. Looked high and low, been watching for some time, can't find a MJ that is close enough to fix up, so I bought an XJ. It's a 95, 4.0, AW4, 231 TC, standard stuff. Get it home this afternoon and start making my list of immediate replace parts.........Why does it look like it has spewed coolant........Oh, I see. The hose that runs to the overflow/recovery bottle isn't hooked to the radiator fill tube. I reach over and find that the hose has nothing to plug onto. The plastic tube that the rubber hose goes over is broke off. So my cheapskate question is....... Why not just make a hole and screw in a brass connector with a hose barb, plug the overflow hose on and get on to other things? Obviously, the plastic is 15 years old (at the most) and probably brittle so care must be taken, but still.........Am I just being cheap or is my redneck showing?
  18. Need a XJ for some parts? Need a XJ for flipping? Need a XJ for just because? I was going to try this, but my tractor has decided to leak gear oil out of one of the rear axles. I guess it's just acting like the Jeeps that park near it by marking its territory. :dunno: Anyway, Overland Tow Service in Merriam, KS is using Towlot.com for some vehicles one of which is a 94 XJ. Since I won't even be able to afford to look I thought I would kick it out for someone else to consider. Main page : http://www.towlot.com/listgallery.php?AUCTION=608 94 XJ : http://www.towlot.com/cgi/showcar.pl?au ... lery=12105 I think Overland charges $95 for the paperwork, but I'm not sure. I have NOT been up there to look it over, I was going to do that tomorrow, but can't now. You are on you own. That's all I know. Not much is it? :D
  19. Were those top two the infamous torx bolts? If so, I bet you meant to replace them with something normal and just forgot. I hear those torx are the "cat's meow" for finding a personal frustration point before "boil over". Just ask Geonovast about them. :D :D Glad you found the root cause before things got real serious.
  20. No, I would have stopped you just short of throwing the match, then when it burnt down to your fingertips causing you great pain, I would have just knocked you in the head and loaded your truck on a trailer headed for home. I would have let you have it back...........eventually............probably. :dunno: Glad things have worked out for the MJ. Scott
  21. Let me know before you douse it. I wanna watch. Or maybe I'll just bring a trailer and haul it down here for a bit while you cool off. I'll treat it nice, I PROMISE!!!!!!!! :brows: Scott
  22. :agree: Sounds like a grounding issue.
  23. Warning!!!!!! Silly question follows!!!!!! You didn't say if your running the automatic or manual, but I am guessing auto. Does the throttle work appropriately in park or neutral? More silly questions!!! Did you check the TCU (if auto)? Check the rear dif? Did you try talking nice to it? (Sometimes, that works. :D ) Scott
  24. Try this thread on for fixing your photo problem. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11077 can't see a pic in facebook if your not a member. :D
  25. Chris, I am snickering because that is more than true. This XJ has power seats.........that the bases are broken and wired together with heavy coat hangers. They rock a little when you step into the gas!
