  1. Other then the little bit of rust it looks pretty good. I like the Dodge, I used to have one almost like it.
  2. Not sure how much of an offroad tire that would be. I don't see how it would be able to wrap an obsticle like an aired down pneumatic tire.
  3. I could be wrong but aren't MJ flairs a little longer then XJ flairs? That could be why cutout flairs interchange but non cutout flairs wouldnt.
  4. Bondo won't work very well, it will look good at first but will eventually fall out. I would weld it but make sure you find a welder that works with sheet metal, someone experienced with sheet metal is gonna be less likely to warp the metal.
  5. Thats where my last one wound up. I pulled it out of my XR4ti and stuffed it EFI, turbo and all in the back of a sand rail.
  6. To me the biggest thing is that they are different. I tend to like odd ball rigs.
  7. Fulltime isnt really for going offroad, thats what part time is for. Not that it won't work offroad but its main purpose is road use. IMO it would be a nice option for a driver but I wouldnt swap a 231 to a 242 for offroad use.
  8. Then why are you considering the 242?
  9. Thats pretty cool. I really want to go check out Naches, hopefully I can make it over there this summer.
  10. Or someone could post as I have and help somebody avoid problems. Ive explained it and everyone can do with it what they like.
  11. I still believe that when considering a 242 swap this is something to think about so you can adjust your build accordingly. Which makes it relevant to the original discussion.
  12. Thats all I said originally and then I was asked to explain. It wasnt intended to go for several pages.
  13. I can see what you were talking about. Chopping a long box has a bit more to it,chopping my short box frame was a bit easier.
  14. . Or someone unaware or misinformed which is why I mentioned it in the first place. Lots of people choose to run autolockers in DDs they just don't use 4wd on the street. I don't see what Eagles issue is with what I said. Reguardless of what the t case is doing internally if its sending power to the wheels the locker has to lock. I don't see how he can argue that. Also if the two axles are locked solid it has to affect handling especially in corners where the wheels need to spin at different speeds. This cannot be argued either. He keeps going back to the t case which I agree does not care what the axle is doing.
  15. Here in the states its Esslinger engineering.
  16. My intent wasnt ment to take this so far, I simply made a comment that turned into this. I agree in some cases it would be manageable, but not all. I think the point of full time is its versatility in many different situations. Then there some people put their rig in full time and never take it out. I believe it is a good point to consider when running a full time case. What people do with it is up to them.

  18. So is your argument that an autolocker doesnt lock when power is applied in all 4wd settings? Or is it that its ok to drive on dry pavement with the front axles locked together? There is no way around it the locker has to be locked if power is applied to it so I guess what your saying is thats ok. This makes me wonder why manufactures bother with spider gears when the could save money and just put in a spool. According to your logic the rig would still drive fine. Being old doesnt make you right.
  19. You could probably sell it, those engines have a pretty good following. Last one I built I was cramming 18psi of boost through, it scooted along pretty good.
  20. Pretty much sums it up.
  21. I used to run the stock steering on a 6.5" lift with no drop pitman. Something is most likely seized or worn out on your stuff.

  24. A locker is on or off,you has an lsd that increased pressure to compensate for slipage so at no point on dry pavement would either diff been solid locked unless you were doing burnouts.
  25. Just read on quadra drive and now I understand. You don't know what an autolocker is. I have driven on just a front axle with an autolocker it is not pleasant.
