  1. Not much of an update but, I got the battery box bolted back down and I added a power disconnect. I thought about changing up the battery arrangement but decided to just leave them for now. I also installed a fuel gauge for the fuel cell.
  2. It's definitely not a necessity, but it cost about $20 to put one together. Besides the normal advantages of a hand throttle, my main thinking was my screwed up knee, it can get pretty uncomfortable on long drives so I figure it would be nice to be able to give it a break on the trail. I want to start driving the truck more and hit some trails again, so anything that might help is worth a shot.
  3. It frees up a foot which is especially handy in a manual transmission rig, I also have a hydraulic hand brake giving me even more options when multitasking on the trail. The hand throttle can be set to operate like a thumb throttle on a quad or it can be set to lock at a specific rpm.
  4. I 3D printed an adapter to use an open slot in the stock bracket, the throttle is a mountain bike friction shifter so it uses a bicycle cable.
  5. I went with boring matte black, makes it easy to touch up as needed.
  6. Years ago I checked mine with a phone app, I had a 2.5l TBI,3.55s and 33s. Iirc, 0-60 was around 17.5 seconds. It would be interesting to see what it does now.
  7. Got mine today, looks great. Just waiting on the frame I ordered to show up, then it will be on display.
  8. It is definitely running much better since I swapped the 24lb injectors back into it, the 30s were just too much for the ECM to handle. Hopefully soon I can get it out and drive it again.
  9. Sent you some $$$.
  10. This thing started out as a Ramcharger, the body was a bit too big for the PNW trails so it didn't take long for it to look like a crushed beer can. My buddy rolled the body off, slapped a Yota cab on it then brought it up to the shop were we built an exo for it. He calls it the "Dota".
  11. Just always been more into Fords, my younger brother collects 78/79 Ford trucks and Broncos, so I've always been around them.
  12. They are all cool rigs but, I would go with the Bronco.
  13. It is amazing the difference it made, I was surprised how much the liner was able to fill.
  14. Today I removed the batteries and dropped the fuel tank. I cut out the bulges in the bed above where the fuel fill tube sits then patched it up, now the ice box/reservoir can sit directly on the bed floor, then prepped the bed and shot the raptor liner.
  15. Got the wheels put together yesterday, so today I pulled it out for some pics. Now onto the fuel cell.
  16. The $500 price tag made it hard to justify buying one, but lately I've been thinking about it. There's more companies selling them now and you can pick one up for around $200. There's also lots of DIY kits for them that would be interesting to play with.
  17. That's too bad but not surprising, even before Covid our local store was already dead. The place was always empty no matter when you went and they always seemed to have less and less stuff, my son is an engineering student and really into robotics, automation, computers, ect.. so I've spent many hours wandering the Wilsonville Oregon store.
  18. Got the new rear calipers today,Ironically these should make my truck faster. Now to see how much power the truck has when it's not dragging a seized rear caliper.
  19. I wanna say that there are a few random part #s that still cross, but none of the cool stuff is available anymore. There is still a bit of it floating around as "new old stock", but you have to be really patient and constantly keep an eye out for it.
  20. I got a pretty good jump in performance, as long as you kept the rpm up it could hold its own with 4.0l rigs, I wasn't beating them but I could definitely keep up. Like most 4cyls, you have to find the power band and keep it there, it's not as forgiving as the 4.0l is. I have 37s with 5.38s, I once raced a Renix 4.0l/AX15 MJ with 37s and 5.13s, down low it had a definite advantage but mid range I could reel him back in, we went for several miles on a mountain road and he could not lose me, we were both pretty surprised by my little 4banger. I was able to hang with some other 4.0l rigs when it was still NA, but that MJ was probably the closest comparison since we were both set up very similar.
  21. I got all the tires broke down, I had planned to run down to a local Jeep shop and borrow their tire machine, but I just haven't been able to get down there. After knocking down one tire by hand last night I decided that my son needed to learn a new skill,so today we tackled the rest of them. Now I just need to assemble the rest of the bead locks and put on the new rear calipers, then I can mount the wheels up and see how it looks.
  22. I have the #P4529658 cam in mine with stock 4.0l springs, although I think the stock 2.5l springs are the same. I did an MPFI swap and some other mods at the same time though, so it's hard to say how the cam alone changed performance.
