  1. You can get new ones.
  2. My pacesetter header came off a buddies TBI 2.5l,it was for an MPI but bolted right up.
  3. Not sure how much your going to improve flow with the tiny TBI choking it up. Here's the 2.5 TBI,2.5 MPI,and 4.0l TBs next to each other.
  4. The alternator won't swap, pretty much everything on the front of the engine all the way down to the timing cover is different. Not sure what the change was with the starter but the break is around 1993. It's just the block, rotating assembly, and head that didn't really change. You can take any stripped down AMC 2.5l and dress it as a TBI,MPI,or even carburated.
  5. Looks like this one is going 4.0l and AX15. I worked a deal with a buddy for a strong running 4.0l donor rig so the blown up 2.5l paperweight is coming out and a 4.0l is going in. I should be picking up the donor soon.
  6. Ya,it's too bad that it's so bad off. I guess i need to start getting my other 2.5l ready to drop in.
  7. Saturday i decided to pop the head off and see if the engine was repairable, the broken valve was jammed in the head and the piston was trashed which wasn't surprising. The piston was also cocked a little in the bore,i got it to move and found that the block is cracked. I figured the engine would need replaced and now it's confirmed,it's just too bad that the engine won't even make a good core to hang onto.
  8. Jeep Driver was working on this swap,he adapted the TBI to the MPI manifold. This is the build but the pics aren't displaying, http://comancheclub.com/topic/44902-po-boys-88/
  9. Done.
  10. That is a non c clip axle,i hope your not taking the diff apart.
  11. I've had good luck with cutting a line into the broken bolts with a cut off wheel and removing them with a flat head screw driver.
  12. AX4/AX5 is pretty good for being a light duty transmission,i beat the crap out of my AX4 wheeling on 33s and it never let me down. I've since swapped in an AX15 which is much stronger but it's a project getting it in there.
  13. I own 2 MJs and neither are currently driveable, one has been a long project and the other has a valve jammed in the #1 piston, but here i am. Staying up with the group is going to motivate you to keep going with your project. Keep in mind this isn't like a video game that you can shut off and pick up later, these are real people and friends here,i would stick around.
  14. You typically use the XJ engine and dash wiring then splice it into the MJ rear harness. This should have everything you need. http://comancheclub.com/topic/18588-xj-dash-harness-to-rear-mj-harness-wiring-guides/

  17. I'm still finishing up the white one and I'm in the process of moving so hopefully i can get to it soon.
  18. A few weeks ago my brother drug this MJ home,it's an 87 2.5l AX4 short box 4x4. The guy said it ran fine but the clutch was slipping and one day there was a pop and the clutch quit,he figured something had come apart in the clutch. When we looked at it the engine wouldn't turn over. My brother had no plans for the truck it was just a good deal so he got it,I went back and forth on buying it from him and finally decided to look it over better. I pulled the transmission and found the clutch was fried but still in one piece, and the engine was still stuck. with further investigation i found a smashed valve on cylinder #1,looks like the clutch was slipping really bad and the guy was determined to make it move. I thought about it a bit and after some horse trading with my brother the little MJ was mine. I have a spare engine for my other MJ that I can stick in it to get it going again then the plan is to take all the old parts from my other MJ and stuff them under it. I have a 6.5" lift,33" tires,a late model D30 and disc brake D44 both locked with 4.88s along with some other stuff from the build. Plan for this one is a driver thats capable enough for some mild wheeling and I will use my other one for the crazy stuff.
  19. Mine are good for a wheeler, they are 3/16" plate steel and match the contour of the bed. The lights are Maxxima hybrid LEDs so everything is in one light. I didn't want to have to worry about finding replacement lights if i broke one on a trail, the Maxxima lights are easy to get.
  20. Mnkyboys are awesome,T&M is somewhat local to me so i have been watching them but i like mine more.
  21. I wasn't aware 4 cyls had anything lower then 4.10? 4 cyl could of had 3.31,3.55,3.73,4.10,or 4.56 stock.
  22. I ran 33s with stock 3.55s and a 2.5l 4spd for a while,definitely not ideal.
  23. I don't remember what that ended up costing, the guy who owns the truck helped quite a bit to help keep the price down. Hopefully here soon i will get the cage built for my MJ.
