Looking for a low range option
mnkyboy replied to JasonB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
TMI is Total Metal Inovations. The black box titan is meant for a 205,the eco box is nearly identical to my Behemoth. And yes Behemoth fell off the face of the earth, mine would have been one of the last. -

I have an AX15 hooked to a Behemoth crawl box hooked to an NP231 with 6 pinion planetary, wide chain, and Teraflex SYE. 7.4:1 is awesome especially since i have it all behind a 2.5l. I can idle over almost anything. -

NWfab econobox will hook right up to a 231,TMI is also making a crawl box that will bolt up. Mountain air offroad reverse engineered the Box4rocks so they are available as well, probably some other options too. So there are doubler options for Jeeps. -

Yesterday i was using the MJ to move some rigs around ar my brothers place,it's nice having the MJ working again. I also finally took it out on the road,it has a little death wobble but I'm pretty sure that it's just an alingment issue so it should be an easy fix. Otherwise it drives pretty well and the 2.5l is making pretty good power,it pulls you back in the seat a little which is pretty good for any Jeep turning 37s.- 798 replies

A few months ago i drove my Renix XJ from Portland,Oregon to Moab,Utah where i played offroad a little then continued on to Mancos,Colorado. The old Jeep didn't skip a beat the whole trip.

Questions concerning the 2.5L bolt pattern
mnkyboy replied to Jtrux's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Most do the 3400 but a 3800 would be doable, problem is that the transmission wouldn't live very long. -
I like the idea of the MPI 2.5l,both of my MJs would have the same set up. I can keep the 4.0l as a spare for my XJ. Once the supercharger goes on the 89 I can move the ported 4.0l TB and modified TB spacer to this engine, then find a header and camshaft to make this one a milder version of the current set up in the 89.

Went tonight and picked up the 91 2.5l MPI, 2 AX5s, a 231,and some other stuff. They haven't finished tearing down the donor MJ but I will be getting the wiring harness and some other stuff from it too. Now I have a 4.0l swap and a 2.5l MPI swap sitting here.

Question about swapping in an ax-15 over my ax-5
mnkyboy replied to Kano808's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You need a 1982 2.5l 4spd Camaro disc,if you cannot find one Advanced Adapters sell a Centerforce disc for the swap. You will use your pressure plate. -
Question about swapping in an ax-15 over my ax-5
mnkyboy replied to Kano808's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The transfer case clocking change is at the transmission not the t case, since you have an XJ transmission the clocking will be fine. Even if you had a Wrangler transmission it's not hard to reclock it. -

Hopefully soon, for now it runs so i can get everything else done. I used 95 YJ parts for the multiport swap, the supercharger is for a TJ and apparently they changed some stuff between 95 and 97. I will have to relocate the power steering pump before i can install the intercooler,i have a TJ bracket and pump so hopefully it bolts on to the YJ stuff. Once i do that i can make the adapter to bolt it to the intake since it's missing from my kit.- 798 replies

I got the cable shifters hooked up and the hydraulic hand brake mounted, with the tummy tuck it is hard to work underneath so i ended up cutting into the tunnel more, now to hook up the rear brake circuit and i shoukd be ready to seal the floor back up. The plan is to build a new section of tunnel with removable access points. I tossed the seats in and it looks like i can keep my retractable cup holders,I need to put some oil in the transfer cases and differentials then i should be able to drive the truck.- 798 replies

Got the rest of the wiring hooked up,it has been a while since I could just reach in and start the truck. The new exhaust sounds pretty good too.- 798 replies

Got the batteries mostly wired up,the main positive is just roughed in but everything else is done. Once the postive run is hooked up i will be able to just hit the key and start the truck,it's been a long time since I've been able to do that.- 798 replies

It's getting close,I need to plumb the rear brakes, wire the batteries, and hook up the cable shifter to the cases then I should be able to drive it a little. I also looked at the supercharger fitment, that's going to be an adventure but I'm pretty sure I've got it figured out.- 798 replies

I finally built the high clearance exhaust system to go with the tummy tuck. I was expecting to have to modify the floor some more but it cleared pretty well the way it was.- 798 replies

If anything it will sound cool. People claim it will make a stock 2.5l a little faster than a 4.0l rig,my 2.5l has some stuff done so it should get them Squirrels running.- 798 replies
