  1. My name is Nathen
  2. Currently I'm running the stock arms but i plan on doing a control arm drop with adjustable arms in the future. the kit does not use u-bolts it uses 4 large bolts with lock nuts on each side. everything in the kit fit correctly except the adjustable track bar which needed some tweaking to get it into the mount. the pinion angle looks fine,it looks like the kit may have even rolled my axle up a little. it flexes great off road and doesnt vibrate or do anything strange on road even at high speeds.
  3. Whats so bad about Rocky roads lifts? I have the 5" lift and it works great and rides better then stock. Why is everyone against bolt on SOA? the only arguement ive heard is they are too expensive. The bolt on kit nearly eliminates axle wrap, due to the perches being 9" long vs. the stock 3.5"-4" perches.
  4. I got my first jeep at 28 now i have two. I had always liked the MJs and finally decided to get one. I was on craiglist one day and saw an ad that said " 1984 comanche fourbyfour $400" the ad had very little info basically stated that it ran. It had no pictures and the jeep was about 45 min from me. I thought about it and got curious so i called about it. the people didnt say much about it other then it was a 4cyl 4spd and it ran and drove. I figured it wouldnt hurt to look as i wasnt doing anything anyway so we drove out to the place,as i turn the corner there sits a decent looking comanche sitting on 31"tires.I popped the hood and saw the emission tag stated it was a 1989. turned out the guys girlfriend posted the ad and didnt know what year it was. I took it for a quick test drive came back and handed the $400 and thats were it started. Then last winter we had a bad snow storm, there are a few XJs and another MJ in my neighborhood the jeep owners were about the only ones who could get out. my wife lost about two weeks of work because her Focus couldnt get out of the driveway. So as soon as i could the Focus went away and i found her a Cherokee Limited. Thats my Jeep story.
  5. It looks pretty good,Ive seen a few trucks driving around here with soft canopies, havent looked into who makes them but they look pretty cool and thay would be less of a pain in the butt then a regular hard canopy.
  6. I havent really played with my truck since i lifted it so today i took it out and drove on some rocks to see it flex a little.
  7. Also 2.5L 4spds came with 3.55s
  8. here's mine,i made it from a stainless steel corner cap from a pace cargo trailer.
  9. Its not that hard to set up gears, and it doesnt cost that much to have it done. If you supply a used gearset the labor isnt that much, you just may not get a warranty. The bolt in SOA kits are under $200 and besides he already has it. My bolt in kit works with the Dana35 or Dana44 you just modify(grind) the spring pad a little for the larger axle.
  10. Whats wrong with the bolt in SOA brakets? It looks to me that the bolt in kits would have less axle wrap issues on a SOA then a normal weld in perch. my bolt in perches are 9" long were my stock xj perches are only about 4". why not use the bolt in kit and just put 4.10s in the mj axle? then just put a 4.10 xj axle in the front.
  11. I'm running a flowmaster muffler with no cat on my 2.5L and it runs pretty good. Alot of people gut the cat, take it off and break/beatout all the catylist material. it runs like it would with no cat but your exhaust might have a wierd hollow sound to it.
  12. I had the same problem in my 05 F150,every time the seats got wet it left a mark on the cloth,so to fix it i washed the seats then at least the whole seat matched.
  13. here's mine when it was bone stock on 31s,I drove it like this for awhile even went offroad a little. It rubbed bad with the stock wheels but after i changed wheels it was fine. I have the 4cyl so i have less weight out front, thats probably why i got away with it on a stock setup.
  14. when you look at an xj look at the 4wheel drive selector 231 and 242 are different. 231 says: 2HI 4HI N 4LO 242 says: 2WD 4Part Time 4Full Time N 4LO Then if you want to be sure you can climb under and check the tag.
  15. If you can find a cherokee limited it should have a 242.
  16. the vehicle has to be newer then 85 or 86(ive seen both numbers) to be turned in. it also has to have been licensed and insured for at least one year to qualify. I think the dead line is this november for the voucher so you would have to of had the vehicle licensed to you and insured for 1 year prior to then.
  17. I had read 86 and up, on vehicles getting combined EPA fuel mileage under 18MPG. that would include all years of MJs with 2.8L or 4.0L engines I read that before it passed so it could have changed.
  18. If it won't go over 35mph you have some serious power issues. I have a 2.5L and 31" tires, the truck has decent power,i can burn the tires pretty good off the line and it cruises just fine over 70mph on the interstate.
  19. So everything will interchange? I wanted to go T5 in my Falcon but the bench would interfere with the shifter. the S10 T5 fits perfect but i didnt want it to shift like a truck. If the car guts will work in the S10 T5 that might be the route i need to go.
  20. here's my 2006 KTM 950SM My 2000 Bombardier DS650 (the yellow one) My 1973 Yamaha RD350 project bike I have a few more bikes but these i had pictures of.
  21. If i remember correctly Rick Byrnes used a Liberty built T-5 in his Merkur Xr4ti bonneville car. he managed to get up to 208mph. so the tranny is capable of doing it,ive read that at one point his car was putting out around 700HP I don't know if it matters for your purpose but ive heard the s-10 T5s don't shift real well. people use them in ford falcon v8 swaps because the shifter will clear the bench seat were the car t-5s won't. the only complaint ive heard is they shift like a truck were the car t-5s are pretty smooth.
  22. Also a lot of fabric stores sell headliner material in various colors. thats where i usually get it. the last time i bought it one fabric store even had the headliner glue but i didnt reconize the brand so i went to the parts store to get the 3M headliner glue (Part #08090)
  23. I looked into this once. from what i was seeing the harbor frieght ones are nearly unusable as tubing benders, thay start crushing/kinking almost immediatly. I have heard of people filling the tubes with sand , smashing the ends to trap it then putting them in the harbor frieght bender, slowly bending while heating the tubing with a torch and claiming to get good results but it seemed like way too much work. Ive never actually done it though so i can't say how well it works. Before my brother bought a bender he found a place that rented them,he said the price wasnt bad. something like that might be good to look into.
