  1. My factory B pillar lights never worked. I installed replacements from a Chevy S10 Blazer. When I manually turn one of the B pillar lights on (using the built in rocker switch), it also turns on the other B pillar light, and the under dash courtesy lights. In other words, it turns on all the interior courtesy lights. Do the factory B pillar lights work this way?
  2. Pete, good job on saving some of those hard to find parts. And, reminder that the 4cyls often have more desirable axle gear ratios for those going with bigger tires.
  3. The Temp Sensor changed to a design that used a specific connector sometime around 1993 (in the XJs, of course). Oscar, what year is your MJ? What year did the new cluster come from? What year for the sensor? Here are pics of a temp sensor connector from a 93 XJ. I have another one if you are interested in buying it and splicing it onto your existing wire. EDIT: THIS IS FOR A 4.0, I'M NOT SURE IF A 2.5 IS THE SAME.
  4. That's weird. It was plug and play on my 91. But my 91 doesn't have any cargo light wiring, whereas the Renix era had it ready to plug and play.
  5. Factory 4x4 with no 4x4 emblems on the cab? Automatic trans with mini console shifter and bench seat? I smell a 4x4 conversion. I thought all auto MJs either had a column shifter, or a full console floor shifter. Looks like it's missing the pass side b pillar light? Be cool if they posted the VIN so we could look up the original option sheet. Very nice truck either way.
  6. The front axle won't be worth the effort. Finding one out of a XJ or MJ that bolts in would be much easier.
  7. This would be for MJs with column shifted auto trans. One could add the full console or mini console and either plug the shifter hole with a block off plate, or add cup holders.
  8. I posted about this idea back in March. Glad to see someone took up the challenge! If you get to a point of producing these, I'd be interested in a blank one and a cup holder one (with no words).
  9. My Mom owned a couple Eddie Bauer edition Broncos in the late 80s/early 90s. I remember them each coming with a nice Eddie Bauer edition piece of luggage.
  10. I'll tell ya... I cut the "wires", unbolted these and brought them home. Stripped a short piece of insulation off the end, and hooked them to a power supply. Nothing. How do you check the bulb? Hmm. Can't see a bulb. Man, that's some weird looking wire. What is that? I literally had no idea what was going on until I found that article, LOL. Then grabbed a flashlight and was like "Whoa!" Now I wish I'd stripped all the fiber optic cable out of it, instead of cutting it.
  11. I don't think I've posted this before... Made an interesting discovery a while back. Found an old Cadillac with "indicators" on the front fenders. I always thought they were just extra turn signal lights that the driver could see from the driver's seat. I figured I might be able to use them for something else, like on my CJ to indicate when the electric engine fans were on. I thought they used regular bulbs. Well, they don't. They aren't regular bulbs. They aren't LEDs either. They are fiber optics. The fiber optic physically runs to the low beam, high beam, and turn signal. They transfer the light so the driver can see that the lights are actually working. It's like a bulb check. I did some research and found this article: https://jalopnik.com/these-tattle-tales-are-americas-weirdest-secret-car-pa-1238802149 Just when you think you've seen/heard it all... anyway, I thought this was pretty cool.
  12. Fat Cat and Skinny Cat. If only one is around, I'll ask them where their stupid sister is. They never answer. One thing I've discovered, they don't like it when I rearrange the furniture. Changed up the bedroom and skinny cat took one look, hissed, and wouldn't come in for a month.
  13. Good luck. And I mean that sincerely. I'm sure you realize when you state 4.0HO, you limit yourself to the 1991-92 models, which are also the two years with the lowest production numbers. I searched for several years before finding my 1991 Comanche. I wanted the same thing as you have posted, except I preferred the automatic. I ended up getting a 2wd with bench seat. The bench seat has been swapped for factory buckets. I have the parts I need to convert to 4wd and that project is slowly underway. I mention this to point out, if you are capable of performing your own work, or can afford to pay someone else to do it, buckets seats swaps, 2wd/4wd conversions, auto/manual swaps, and even adding AC are possible. If you are wanting one that is factory original, and plan to keep it factory original, I can appreciate that too. Like I said, best of luck.
  14. It's not unusual to see a dash clock listed on eBay as fitting "Cherokees 85-96, Comanches 86-92".
  15. How many are you looking for? I may have a few. Edit: These are used to secure the plastic trim below the rear window, correct? Among other things, I think.
  16. I've supervised the hauling of heavy equipment and cargo over regular roads and over extreme off road conditions in peacetime and in combat. There is a time and place to use chains and binders, and to cross your rigging. I also document all the miles on my 16' car hauler trailer. I have over 30,000 miles of trailering my CJ7. I use straps, with the J-hooks, and go straight (like recommended in the video). I attach to the frame of the Jeep in the front and back. I inspect my straps before every trip, and replace them, on average, every 2 years. I've also made mistakes. The pictures of my Cherokee are the result of improper strap placement and an emergency stop to avoid an accident. The rear straps were crossed and almost straight up and down. Like mentioned in the video, it's a mistake you see when a trailer is to short for the load.
  17. Looks like an 87+ harness. 86 used a different connector to plug in at the main harness. A source for the main plug was recently discovered here on Comanche Club. The components can be bought new, or it can be found under the hood of many Cadillacs. I don't think the complete harness is especially desirable, but perhaps some others will have a different opinion.

    Jeep vs Bronco

I prefer a manual for my primary off road vehicle, simply because I know how to drive one and like the challenge. Nothing wrong with an auto off road though. For my tow rig/daily driver, auto all the way. My 2001 Silverado 6.0 gas is sitting at 330,000 miles and still going strong. My Mom drove a full size Bronco in the late 80s. Remember the Eddie Bauer Editions? She had a blue/tan one, and then a red/tan one. She heard about the new Bronco coming out and mentioned it to me. She's curious. I think it would be awesome if she got one! (she's 76)
  19. I was asking the same question a while back. Here is the thread:
  20. I have new replacement connector housings for the heater fan switch. These work for all MJs and 84-96 XJs. It's pretty common for these to be melted, and needing replaced. Three options: 1. Connector by itself, if your terminals are good, or you already have some new terminals on hand. 2. Connector and five new terminals. The switch only uses four wires, so you'll have one extra. I can supply 14-16 gauge terminals, or 12 gauge terminals. Your choice. I think the factory wires are 12 gauge, but the 16-14 terminals will work. Be aware that these are the factory type terminals, and to crimp them correctly requires special equipment. It can be done with regular inexpensive crimpers, but the results may not be as nice. 3. Connector with new 12 gauge wires and new terminals already crimped on. Wires are 6" long. Cut off your old damaged terminals, and attach the new pigtails with method of your choice. I suggest a crimped, bare butt connector covered with adhesive lined heat shrink tubing. Please see the ebay listings for current pricing. 1. 21. Here is what the cig lighter light looks like:
  22. Once you nail down a schedule and route, post it on a new thread here at Comanche Club. Members along your route may be willing to provide a place to spend the night and roadside assistance in the case an issue arises. With that said, I would inspect your front suspension. The appearance of your front bumper suggests it took a pretty good hit. There is a vacuum reservoir mounted to the backside of the front bumper on the passenger side. I would check the condition of the reservoir and it's lines. A vacuum leak there will affect how the engine runs. If you don't have the knowledge to inspect everything on the front suspension, I would take it to a trusted professional.
  23. I'm the same way. I think ones sense of smell deteriorate as we age. I also suspect that "new car smell!" everyone loves is 12% steering column grease
  24. I got this column from a member here early in 2019. Lots of wobble in the tilt, during teardown found two of the screws that secure the tilt mechanism completely backed out and loose inside the column.
