Turn Signal Cancelling Problems
91Pioneer replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I thought I'd bump this thread instead of starting a new one. I need the little bottom spring shown in that pic above (the finger is covering it). Does anyone know the part # for it? I'm going to hit up an auto parts store or two tomorrow but if anyone knew the part # it would help. I guess I'll head over to Dorman's website and see if I can figure it out... -
drill/ slotted rotors??

For a daily driver it's a waste of money. If you want them for looks, OK fine, it's your money. If you race or have some serious performance driving aspirations, then maybe. For a daily driver, no. -

Shoot.... broke rear shock stud

I installed Gabriel Guardian 81548 in the front. It came with new stuff for the top (bushings, washers & nut), no lower hardware. I didn't use anti-seize, I forgot, I normally would have. I even put some anti seize on the back of the wheel where it contacts the caliper and the center hub bore. I guess I could have replaced all 4 bolts and nuts but meh it worked. It's highly unlikely a bolt would break during normal driving conditions, more likely to break during removal or installation. -

So I changed my front shocks today and guess what? Yeah, broke a bolt! Damn rust. I even remembered to heat the nut before I tried to remove it. Super easy access though to replace the bolt, and it's also a regular bolt & nylon nut so that's even easier (cost me $0.16 at Peavey Mart LOL). -

These are best: http://amzn.to/1TLwBG9- it's nice that it's a kit of upper & lower, all you need. Way cheaper than OEM (same part, different box). Some other cheaper ones won't fit right even though they say they're for a certain application. -
These are the closest to the factory profile. Notice the front where it fits up nice against the door & fender. http://www.fixmyrust.com/Item/1984-2001_Cherokee_Rocker_Panel_Two_Door_or_Four_Door_Driver_Side and http://www.rustrepair.com/PANELS/84-CHEROKEE-WAGONEER-ROCKER-4DR-7858443L.HTM I hear the XJ rocker gets wider as it goes back. I can't say for sure if it would work, some say yes some say no, but that one is FAR superior to other rockers. For $50 I'd try one side and see how it goes. My personal plan is to buy one of those, use it all the way back where my cab corner is gone and metal work the back to fit back into the rear part of the cab corner (in essence using it as a rocker panel and cab corner patch panel at the same time). Have not measured but I think it will be close.

Sherman is 100% garbage, don't waste a nickel on them.
-
Have you thought about getting quality XJ rockers and cutting them to fit? That's what I'm thinking will be easiest.

Turn your phone sideways next time.
-
91/92 due to smoother running, easier starting and more reliable. In my experience anyway.
-
Is that the same part # for 93/94 XJs, do you know? Would it matter? I'm going to have to go look at mine again because the factory wiring plug did not fit the XJ sender I got.
-
My gauge is maybe wonky (or it's the pressure itself). What is the part #? My gauge cluster came out of a 93/94 XJ and I grabbed the sender out of there too.
-
Yeah yours sounds waaaaay more amateur. I scored a very good condition bumper out of North Battleford for $70 including shipping, have not tackled restoring and installing it yet but it's way better than one I have. I'm scared all my bumper bolts are going to snap off when I take my current one off. Most bolts/nuts snap off when I touch them on this truck. If the bumper bolts snap off is it easy to replace them on these trucks?
-
Update, yay. My 88 MJ rear bumper had welded on braces going out to the rear corners too.
-
My 91 has the bottle by the booster. I may move it or install the XJ passenger side on when I install the 96 booster I have.

Oil pressure erratic until engine warm

Neither store carries it here. I'm sure I did see it at one of them like 10 yrs ago. -
I looked under, cried, and put the carpet back. It's bad, real bad, and I don't have the skills to fix it.

I'm thinking about that, I might. -

Costco just added it to their site, box of 6. I've never seen it locally. The way Costco works it might be off their site next month forever. My gauge reads a bit lower than yours, hot idling. I tend to look at my gauge straight on when I read it and your off to the left for obvious reasons. -

Well I found a good source for MMO in Canada so I bought some. I'm going to go ahead and change the disgusting oil soon and put in a quart of MMO in place of oil and give it some time. The truck was severely neglected before I bought it so hopefully MMO will clean 'er up internally. Maybe that will help with the oil pressure readout. Maybe not but it's something I've kinda been wanting to try anyway. -
Been a member for years but it's costly... as in I buy all sorts of tools after hanging out there for a day or two LOL Excellent site for ideas on garages, questions about tools, techniques. Great site and busy. No need to do anything here IMHO.
