  1. A forgotten art. Like telling time, being able to write a letter, and cursive writing. How about those pre cell phone days when you actually had to call your gf or bf and hope they answered instead of getting stuck on the phone with a parent?!?!
  2. Hahahah!!! It’s a Jeep thing! See, we all get it!! Nice find.
  3. Damn right!!! Thanks... the Base of Base!!
  4. I’m a sticker guy, guilty as charged. Yes, at the end of the day we all do what we want to our Jeeps. Wheelers, climbers, DD, garage ornaments, builds that will probably never end, mods, the list goes on. I just looked at the basic questions. He actually answered this on his own. Stickers can be peeled off.... clean original metal once cut up will never be original again to the Jeep. Again though, it’s completely a personal choice. His choice.
  5. I’d like one as well Eagle! Thanks!
  6. That’s what your ‘copilot’ will remember! Nice to bring along a little’Jeeper!’
  7. Cleaned the C101 connector. Plan on eventually deleting. As most of you know who have this connector, a cleaning( at least once in the lifetime of the truck) should be performed. 32 years of what I can only describe as tar, is encased inside this connector. Patience..patience... patience. Also resprayed the grille and headlight bezels.
  8. Perfectly good metal? Why????
  9. A special thank you goes out to eaglescout526. I just noticed this morning. He is systematically going through all the Comanches in our registry and updating them with a build date. Not just the month and year, but the actual day. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I for one am thankful! Now I know when her actual ‘birthday’ is. Cheers!
  10. Eagle I just saw this. Thank you for taking the time to do that. That was a cool thing to do!
  11. Just missing an EGA sticker...😎 Looks and sounds good!
  12. Thanks for the idea. I may have to go that route. Every old XJ I find at junkyard have those clips, and usually that cover, missing.
  13. Thanks Pete. I owe it to Cruiser, who took his time, and walked me through diagnosing the problem. I hope down the road by being taught that, I’ll be able to help someone else out here! Electrical problems can be very trying, especially when they are intermittent.
  14. Little victory today. Soldered wires in for my turn signal socket. Checked it with power... before... during...and after completed. It’s always baby steps... crawl, walk , run. A little sticker from Vicksburg as well.
  15. Anyone have one or two they can spare? Thanks!
  16. Fast forward to this weekend.... Cruiser54... you Sir have the patience of a Saint!!!! I had a driver side front turn signal issue. The light would only turn on when being used as such. Headlights on, that light wouldn’t illuminate. Parking lights on, same. It would only work as a flasher. So I figured you know what, I’m gonna cut through the chase. I’ll go right to our resident Renix guru... Cruiser! Well about 50 pms, possibly more!!!, back and forth, he deducted it was more than likely a faulty socket. Along the way he taught me the use of a multi meter to check the wiring on my truck. A skill that is much needed in diagnosing these electrical gremlins. Sorry for the excessive PMs again and thank you for your insight and patience!!! I made a run to the local boneyard. I love when they ask what vehicle your looking for...’ umm a Comanche’ What? Forget it. A Jeep XJ. ‘Oh yeah ok’.... Well low an behold I found an 89 XJ. Let me tell you that’s a needle in a haystack here. I found the light socket I needed and grabbed rescued a black dash bezel. I didn’t need it, but I wasn’t going to let it go to the crusher. The guy had one hell of a hillbilly( I can say that..) overflow set up! I also did Cruisers Headlight Harness cleaning tip.... another must do. Next things I’m planning on doing no particular order.... Paint headlight bezels and grill, plates, C101 DELETE, install my visors, and finally like Joe Dirt says... ‘Keep on keeping on...pics now.
  17. Next I wanted to do a small lift... 2-3 inches. I purchased some Rubicon shocks( used/ take offs) and bought some drop shackles. I followed a members write up to guide me along the way! I still plan on getting some bigger tires with some spacers in the future. I just want to have a more aggressive stance. I’m currently still running 265/70/R15s. I currently have about 33 inches of height from the ground to the bottom of my front fender flare.
  18. Well gonna update this a little, it’s been awhile!!!! My Jeep spends the majority of its time in my garage. I think in the past year I drove it less than a few hundred miles. Plating issues I blame (emissions) but in reality work, life and such takes precedent. Not that I don’t enjoy driving it, but usually doing so involves me avoiding the police since my plates have been expired since Feb of 2017. But hey, if you’re gonna be a rule breaker be a rule breaker. So since the past update I’ve done a few minor things to improve my Jeep. Carpet. I had that rubber mat stuff down, which was actually feasible and ideal for my truck, but I ripped it all out, along with padding to address my floor issues. I replaced carpet. New headliner. Ordered from SMS ( highly recommend).Benchseat. I bought from a member here and had it reupholstered. I also purchased some visors from Krustyballer as well as a new rear carpet piece from Saveeveryjeep. Thanks boys. So a couple interior shots.
  19. Ehhh... not enough rust on it for our Midwest crew...😎 Looks like a nice XJ!
  20. Ran across this video today. Gonna eventually tackle the C101 delete on my 87. Just some soldering tips if you haven’t had a lot, or any experience with soldering wires together.
  21. I’m actually following this. I have my 70 Chevelle rear bumper with taillights ( only thing left from my first car, well that and the steering wheel). Always thought of doing the same thing in the basement as wall art with working taillights. Please post some pics and good luck!
  22. Still waiting for insurance paperwork.... decided to troubleshoot a turn signal gremlin... thanks Cruiser54 for the insight! Also found a burned out taillight bulb. Took off the taillight and bulb was pulled apart. I don’t drive often, mainly a garage ornament, but jeez how long has this bulb been in there???
  23. Well after working 14 hrs last night.....Called downstate to verify I had my ducks in a row. Got sent a temp insurance ID card as well as an in house form, from State Farm, saying vehicle is insured as antique/ historic. Not enough. They need hard copies of course. After 15 minutes of going around in a circle I told them I’ll just register in another county. I told the lady ‘I have insurance and a current license, I’m good to go. You don’t want to plate it that’s your problem. I’m driving.’ It just irks me to know downstate Indy, the ones in charge, tell me I’m good to go, the people here tell me that’s just a call center they’ve never actually worked in a branch. Whatever.... to be continued....
