Gauge cluster/Dome lights issue
bigalpha replied to bigalpha's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
One of your cohorts, nontheless. Let me know if your used switch helps any of your problems. I doubt that's my issue as it'd be too easy to fix. There was some wacky $#!& going on in my fusebox, too. They used they tiny fuses in some slots, which melted some of the plastic. -
Gauge cluster/Dome lights issue

Alpha-Boy, Alpha-Guy. One day, you'll run out of names to use. 8) My dash lights work. Maybe yours is a headlight switch issue? -
Gauge cluster/Dome lights issue

What's up with your nicknames? Can you have a ground that's kind of/almost bad? How do you manage a 3V drop in current? -
Gauge cluster/Dome lights issue
bigalpha replied to bigalpha's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Alright, did some prelim. testing. The passenger side b-pillar dome light is the one with the bad ground. I tested both of the 'constant' and 'switched' terminals and they both tested 12V. At least I've narrowed it down to one side of the truck. As far as the socket. I replaced the bulb with two new ones and no dice. Tested the outlet and it only shows about 9.5V with the lights on. What would cause a low voltage? The printout from Advance shows a suspect 11.18A drain on the system. Maybe this is partly the cause. -
touche` I'm sometimes a little

So my lame attempt at a diagram wasn't too far off???  Well, it depends. The LWB has a 15% wider turning radius than an XJ. The SWB has a 9% wider turning radius than an XJ. The LWB has a 6% wider turning radius than an SWB. According to your diagram (roughly) The LWB has a 90% wider turning radius than an XJ. The SWB has a 60% wider turning radius than an XJ. The LWB has a 20% wider turning radius than an SWB. At least, that's if I've done my math right.

88 MJ, 6cyl. All the bulbs are good in the blinkers, tail, etc. When I pull the stalk to activate the running lights or headlights, on the cluster, the RIGHT TURN INDICATOR stays lit continuously. When I active the right blinker, the gauge cluster indicator light will blink on and off as well. The front and rear blinkers still work normally. Also, my B pillar lights and kick panel lights will always stay on with the door open. The door-peg is not jammed shut. When I push the peg in (to simulate a closed door), the lights will dim but not go off. Is it possible these two issues are related? Where do these lights ground at? Any common failure points?

Thanks. At least I'm not going crazy.

Ha. We have a Chevy 2500HD 4dr, extended bed. it's as long as a school bus.

Well I get the concept behind the science of turning radius. I was basically looking to verify that the TR of the LWB is actually significantly wider than the XJ and SWB. Since this is my first MJ (LWB at that), I wanted to know.

I've noticed that my LWB MJ has a signifcantly wider turning radius than my XJ. Does the SWB have the same turning radius as an XJ? Is it normal for my LWB to have such a wider turning radius?

Got chrome windshield trim installed and got chrome door handles installed! It's looking good! Also got a speedo cable and need to install it. It will be exciting to have a working speedo again. I picked up 4 chrome rails from an XJ that go up top and work with the luggage rack. Anything fun I can use them for?

Holy $#!&. That's incredible.

No biggie - I finally managed to get one without breaking it - I think. Gotta install it and see if it works.

FWIW, that connector for the column shift is up on the firewall. I took a few pics of the one I found if anyone is interested.

I'm not on your route, but good luck. If you're ever through TN, we'll grab a drink.

Haha. Not sure, but it's definitely unique ... Joyota? Teep? Jota?
