  1. Howdy Neighbor! Rob :wavey:
  2. Don't forget I am planning on buying that visor. :brows: Rob
  3. We should harness the potential power of cow farts. Rob
  4. Probably going to be something with some miles on it... Just prepare yourself. I would also see if you can find a forum for them. When I was looking into diesel KJ's, SirSam was tons of help, but I also got some info off a forum about which years were good, programming issues, trans issues, as well as signs of trouble before you buy it. Diesels are great, but if they weren't taken care of, the repair bills can make you question why you bought one. Get educated on them before you buy one blindly. Rob
  5. While I am a fan of the Grand, there is something just sexier about the big-boxy Commander. From what I gather, it's the same underpinnings and platform as a WK... I would just want one as a DD with some 'tude. Rob
  6. Welp, added anoyher piece ofcool MJ stuff to the collection today. Recently, some had a NOS MJ SWB bedside up for sale on eBay for a buy it now price of $400. After I stopped laughing, I noticed the 'Best offer' tag, so I tossed a couple offers, $75 and $100, but they were both insta-rejected. The seller must have had a lower offer filter or something. So I sent a message, asking what he really wanted out of it, if I came with cash. $200 firm. I said thanks but no thanks, knowing it was local pickup, and that I am really the only nerd that would persue that thing. Well what do you know... I got a message this week. Now it was $150. $125 later and a couple hours worth of driving: Going to toss a fuel door on it, a flare, a tail, and hang it on the wall. It's made it 20+ years on a shelf, I don't plan on putting it on a truck now. Rob
  7. I used to buy cheap boots all the time. They always started to squeak, creak, fall apart... Over a year ago, my cheap ways were really starting to show. My laces were all broken, and I was using zip ties to tie my boots up. My mom saw this, and told me that I was getting boots for my birthday. We ended up at a Redwing store, and it was a totally new experience. They actually fit you right there, make recommendations based on what your using them for, and even lace them up for you once you have a pair you would like to try. He set me up with a pair similar sounding to Will's, and I tossed down the money. Ma helped a bit, but the full load of the $150 was more than I wanted her to spend. They feel like slippers now. They are completely quiet, make no noise, and flex great. On top of all that, for the life of the boot, Redwing gives you free eyelets, laces, and small other things. Never going back. Congrats on the new shoes. You'll be in the same boat I am. No more cheapies from here on out. Rob
  8. Wanted: The missing pieces of molding that did not come with my diesel... See pic: Let me know if you have some that you would be willing to part with. Rob
  9. If you already have the gauges (not idiot lights) with the big gas gauge, you are good to go. You already have all the required sensors. Just find a cluster of the same era MJ, and enjoy. Rob
  10. Just ordered this up. Can't wait to be fully operational. For basic functions like I'm after, it should be pretty much plug and play right? Rob :dunno:
  11. Service was installed today. Ended up with Charter Digital TV with HD-DVR, and the 12 MBPS internet for $89 for 12, then $99 for the last year. They did include a modem, so all I have to do now is pick up a router. The modem is actually the Motorola Surfboard SB5101N. They gave me a huge list of "accepted" routers. He got me setup with a hardline to get his end of the internet programmed, and it's a world faster than my DSL. Youtube is much much faster. I'll have to swing out and pick a router up tomorrow so I can cancel my AT&T. The digital TV is taking some getting used to... I've always just had basic, so all these menu's, recordings, and fun stuff is new. Once I get the internet up and running in it's WIFI form, I'll run a speed test, and see what I am throwing down. Rob
  12. It's all good until you really need them one day and that union blows off at the most inopportune time for it to. Rob
  13. It's amazing Brandon I was at a chili cook off, and someone had made goat meat chili... Tastes like piss. Literally. Someone had told me that that's just the way goat meat tastes. Needless to say, they didn't get my vote. Rob :ack:
  14. I think the chrome lugs and caps should stay. Rob
  15. Tim, yours is the first I have seen that isn't two-toned... Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Rob
  16. NEW PORN!!! eBay is now, more than ever, a way to blow even more money. Cripes. :rotfl2: Looky what I found, an in house training manual from 1985, complete with a quiz and study guide still in the workbook. There isn't a whole lot of 2.1 specific stuff in it, just a short little basics manual at the back. Most of it is the explanation of diesel operation, and basics. It touches on the specifics of the 2.1 in a couple sections though. Still. Very cool. Now if my friggen parts would just come in so I could start tearing into it. Rob :D
  17. I have been surprised in the past, but I think you are correct. I too, have never seen a SWB Laredo. Rob :dunno:
  18. PhotoBucket. I've been using them for years. Besides the obnoxious auto play ads when uploading I've got no complaints. :agree: I use Facebook for everything now. I used to use picture trail, but then I got a new phone. All my pics upload directly to FB, and it makes it super quick to get them onto CC. Not only that, but FB has no photo limit, no bandwidth restrictions, and it's free. Like a sore pecker, you can't beat it. Rob
  19. Is there anyway you could grab the cargo light for me? Maybe tails too if you aren't going to use them? Rob
  20. I'm betting that thing is smoked. With an aluminum head and block, they don't respond well to overheating. Plus, I just don't think I have the funds to do another expedition. Rob
  21. This is why I hate my work sometimes. My boss and my brilliant coworker installed these on one of our detectives cars. Try as I might, there are somethings that they just don't understand. Just today I had to down a primary squad because I had found the L/F caliper hose twisted because someone rotated the caliper and put it back on while doing a brake job. The tire and rim were rubbing it at full lock. All the outside of the flex line was ground off, and it was down to the frayed inner braids. After describing this to my cohort, I just got a deer in the headlights look, and "Front or rear?" Be news to me that we had rear steer cruisers. Rob :wall:
  22. Thanks for the info Phil. Believe me, I have combed anything related to this truck in previous threads. I had re-read that about 90 times while I was waiting to get the truck. Also, good news and bad news. Awhile back I raided all MJ Diesel related book and manuals I could find on eBay. In addition to the one pictured before, I saw another one. It had a picture of the AX5 on it and said it was the "1985-87 Jeep Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Comanche overhaul manual for diesel models" I took it as the Diesel specific manual trans overhaul manual. Came today... I was disappointed to find that it was a re-pop of a factory service manual, but it is bound professionally, with all the correct text and pages. Looks very nice. The bonus came when I started flipping through it, and holy hell. It is actually a collection of Diesel specific manuals from AMC released for re-production by reaper Mopar. From the engine all the way back to the t-case. Definitely cool, although I have my eye out for the originals, and one other pretty cool old manual coming. Post pics when I get it. Additionally, I have been talking to my CarQuest guy a lot lately, and he's put word out to his Gates rep about my belt kit. Apparently, Gates of Europe is the only one that sells the kit, and it is unavailable to the states. The rep contacted the head office, and he's going to see if he can get one sent my way. Keep you guys posted as the new stuff rolls in. Rob

  24. I use a torpedo heater, except I have a multi fuel, so I run it on some of the cheapest stuff I have. Diesel. It heats up the garage quick, and it hardly uses any fuel. The GF says it makes me stink, but I like diesel exhaust, so I don't even notice it. Rob
  25. What a shame. I absolutely hate it when people destroy vehicles. Especially Jeeps. Rob
