  1. Well, I know Geonovast, and the members available to come, do everything in a car port... Including engine swaps, making a custom XJ convertible, and getting an XJ to fit on to an 4X8 trailer the fun way... :brows: That count? Rob L. :dunno:
  2. Congrats! Thats half the battle! I am jealous of you already. Rob L.
  3. We have quite a few electrical gurus here, so that shouldnt be a problem. Now with the facts for that: Electric fan? Do you have A/C, or not? Replacing the engine fan, or aux fan? Other wiring issue? Rob L.
  4. Usually there is a thing in settings, that give you the option of "update software" selection. Rob L.
  5. :wavey: Welcome to the club there neighbor! Nice MJ! If you need a hand with anything, don't be afraid to give me a shout! There are actually quite a few members in Lake, McHenry, and Boone county! Rob L.
  6. I did, kinda. I just told him that a 3.4 swap would be a direct bolt in, and that the 4.0L could be done, but would need more modification than a '87-'92 4.0L swap. :dunno: Namely firewall massaging and odds/ends. But if you are up for it, its not too bad. ;) Rob L.
  7. My numbers are sourced from different jeep history books that actually had the same numbers. But note: These are "Production" numbers. Meaning, they are the number of trucks produced. So, there are actually more than 952 1992 MJ's, but seeing as they start making them the year before, and run into the model year halfway, there were only - 952 - made in the actual 1992 year (Jan 01, 1992, to end of run). Its hard for some to understand, but I used to work at a dealer, so it comes like second nature to me. Rob L.
  8. Epic Fail. :D Rob L.
  9. Look at your driver door for a build date. The later your date is, the closer you are to the last of the build. We have a member here that has an MJ built on April 27th, 1992. Usually they stop making that model year in June of that year... SO check yours... I have general production numbers on my site : www.comanchemj.1hwy.com I think there were 952 or so made IN the year '92. (Jan to end of run) Welcome to the group! Any pics? Rob L.
  10. That might work, but those factory caps? Arent they attached by a screw from the other side? Rob L.
  11. Well thars ya problem, dem there commannchee's didn't not have a reer mount engine... :D Looks good, Looks like you are still going to 4.0L convert it? Rob L.
  12. :( Rob L.
  13. They seem pretty short... Might be good as a overload spring... Rob L.
  14. That turned out nice... Does grizzly grip take impacts good? Rob L.
  15. I like the CTD! Too Bad I blew mine up... :( Rob L.
  16. Holy nice post! Thanks for the writeup! Rob L.
  17. I wish it was snowing here, then I'd be making money... :brows: Rob L.
  18. I was thinking more of a job/skills background...Vehicle background... But we always like it when people put the specs of their trucks in the signature, which can be accessed via the user control panel tab on the top right of the page. Yep, if you wanted to keep all your wiring and plumbing, a 3.4L v6 would be the way to go. If you go 4.0L, the ENTIRE wiring harness will have to be swapped in. Rob L.
  19. I think the consensus is they are the same. Rob L.
  20. Good luck with the purchase! The "round cover" diff could be an AMC20... Available in 1986. Possibly a Dana 35. The 5 speed is most likely an AX5 which can also be found behind the 2.5L... The 2.5L and the 2.8 V6 actually have the same bellhousing pattern. If you have a V6, it is the GM sourced 60 degree 2.8L V6. A GM 3.4L V6 out of a camaro is a direct bolt in replacement. A 4.0L swap is a little tough, as your hood and fenders are shorter than later models. It will work, but you will have to "massage" the firewall. Any more questions? Where's your background? Rob L.
  21. I know there is an auto repair badge... Go for that and work some "extra" activities... Cubs scouts though huh? Make sure to work in the space derby, and the pinewood derby. I don't think we did enough of that in my pack. Rob L. :brows:
  22. :agree: Start there. Listen for unusual hissing... You can also use propane or other system safe aerosols to spray around problem areas. If the idle goes up after you spray, thats where your problem area is... Rob L.
  23. Here's Tom's thread... viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18787 Try his stuff... Rob L.
  24. According to what I read there, and on skyjacker.com, that kit is only the lower links (control arms?), and a trackbar relocation kit... no springs, shocks, leafs... It says right under the warrany thing that it needs other components to be a complete lift. The kit you found was a "box" that would help on an MJ with a 3" lift. You keep pulling up all these third party sites for lifts too. That seems to be half your problem. Go directly to the manufacturer. Rob L.
  25. I like the job you did... I hope my first attempt at bodywork looks half as good. Rob L.
