Wait around for a later year model... With the 2.5L or the 4.0L... Chances are that its a V6, and you could get a 4.0L for about the same price, with less probs... Rob L.

Don, although I know I am supposed to pay attention to the plate, I can't keep my eyes off the object its attached to, and how unbelieveably clean that thing is... I have said it once, I'll say it again. Well done. Rob L.

Selectrac = 242, correct?
Automan2164 replied to Geonovast's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You are right. Its hard for anyone but those stricken with the Jeep disease to pay attention to this... 242 - Select-trac 231 - Command-trac 249 - Quadra-trac Rob L. -
Always liked them belts. Good plan, and cheap insurance if thats not the cause. Rob L.

Is she ok? Well, the good news is that it looks pretty superficial... Doesn't look like the frame too a hit... Sucks, but could be a LOT worse... Rob L.

There are really quite a few. 1st Gen Dodge Dakota ZJ KJ YJ TJ Bronco II/Ranger First Gen I know there are others, but I am drawing a blank. Rob L.

Bad starter will not make the battery light come on. It comes on when it sees too much, or most likely in your case, too little voltage. Check the connections from the alternator to the battery, and make sure that alternator is cranking out some volts. Rob L.

Oooo.... Good news for you, if you have the Metric ton package, and its an '86, most likely you have a AMC 20 rear axle, possibly with limited slip... Congrats! You struck gold with this one. Rob L.

Neither is normal operation during a 5 MPH breeze... :D Rob L.

Wow, nice Dave... It'd be nice to have a drain, and be able to service the fluid after a trip in the water before driving home, without having to pull the cover.... Rob L.

I'm going through some of the same stuff at the moment. I am insulating and drywalling my garage, and using it as a time to clean and organize the tools/parts... I am planning on buying an attic ladder and utilizing the unclaimed parts storage potential up there though.... :brows: Rob L.

Yep. Its done well so far. The axles really need to be regeared to get back the power. Its fine off road but on the highway its a dog. Although people will have conflicting stories on this, it is rumored that a 2.5L automatic MJ/XJ will have 4.56 gears stock. I am unsure as what tranny yours originally came with (AX4/AX5) you might have either 3.55's(AX4) or 4.10's(AX5). Do you still have the stock axles? Rob L.

Good plan. There is an aftermarket company who also makes rock sliders, bumpers, brackets, and other cool stuff thats MJ specific, and that no-one else makes. Didi I mention that they are great on prices too? I plan on getting the LWB rock sliders as soon as I get to that point. I am fixing all the body, so I am going to be sure it stays rock-rash free! http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/mer ... y_Code=MJS Rob L.

From what I saw on your video, looks like you have the 2.5L also? Nice vid by the way, man that thing is clean! Rob L.

I know where your at. I used to have a SWB (well, a bunch), and they performed great off road, but the SWB gets small with tools, tires, and junk. I am in the middle of building a LWB, and as you stated, will be putting on a big, modified rear bumper. I just plan on tieing the bumper into the rear quarters on the bed to keep them protected from the departure angles, and to have a solid point to drag when the angle is high without tearing up the bed. Rob L.

Looking on putting on that exact lift... Also for any questions/info, can you also put your drivetrain specs in the signature line? Rob L.
-
Not easy. They are 2 different wheelbases. You have a darn clean truck, you can bob the bed similar to the scrambler way of things, but with your MJ looking so clean, I would advise against it... There would have to be frame modifications, and a ton of headache to put on a shortbed. Before doing all of that, I would reccommend finding a SWB roller, and swapping your stuff on to it... Rob L.

Nice truck! Welcome to the sickness! How do you like the Rubicon Express lift kit? Rob L.

MJ Production Figures
Automan2164 replied to johnnybebad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That makes sence, especially with the low count for 1992, but what about the numbers for model year 85's produced before 1/1/'85 (= 1984 numbers)? Unless MJ's had a mid-85 introduction, and production didn't start till after 1/1/'85 :dunno: The MJ was "rolled out" on July 1, 1985 as an '86 model. :wall: Thanks, guess I didn't think that one through. :ack: :smart: :ack:  I even have one of those fancy coins that commerates the release on July 1st, '85... I know some of you other guys do also... :brows: And I vote to keep it stock. 1992 MJ's are rare enough over here, but in Nova Scotia? 8) Most likely one of less than 50 over there... Rob L.
