  2. If all of you guys lurking in the background tonight would come to chat, that would be a party! Rob L.
  3. Id say so. Rob L.
  4. Well, usually a metric ton is a LWB, but the original owner could have just checked off for the heavy duty axle when ordering... I don't think jeep made Metric ton SWBs. Do you have the vin handy? But if you are sure that you have a D44, that's the meat and 'taters of it anyway... Rob L.
  5. For the loose door striker on my old MJ, I used a drill bit and some pop rivets... There is a steel plate welded behind the sheetmetal the post is bolted to. Just drill through the sheetmetal and the plate, and pop rivet the two together... Worked great for me, and I didn't have to cut up the door. The pop rivets will pull the two up nice and close. Rob L.
  6. Just had a friend send me this, sent one to the GF's phone, she just about died laughing. www.transformersmovie.com/protect Rob L.
  7. I had that kit, but that was way back when Rusty's was a quality small company, just starting out... I can't speak from recent experience, but the stuff they make now is sub-par, according to other members... Try hellcreeksuspensions.com and talk to Tom. He is a member here, make his own leaf packs, and puts kits together with RC stuff. He also offers a CC discount... :brows: Rob L.
  8. Depends on the market in your area, the mileage on the assembly, and the overall condition. What I usually do when selling my own stuff is to hop on the local CL and see what similar items are fetching at the time. Rob L.
  9. whats you DD Don? Rob L.
  10. I believe the 2.5L was MPI for that year... They were never offered in a carb on the MJ's. Its a peppy little engine, but if you are really looking forward to that 4.0L power, I'd wait for one of those, or swap one in if the truck is worth it. Really reliable little sucker, and get around 20 MPG normally. Rob L.

  12. That CJ belongs in a museum. Or i'll keep in my garage... :D Rob L.
  13. :fs1: Curse you and your amazingly clean truck. Rob L.
  14. :hmm: To 5 and a half feet? Rob L. would 1' be a better choice? :shake: Yes, yes it would. :D Rob L.

  16. Wonder what a matching set of NOS MJ taillights would fetch... Rob L.
  17. Well, you at least have to tell us how much ya paid... Rob L. :D
  18. Wow. Rob L.
  19. The best results from spacers will be found on TBI setups... THe purpose of a spacer is to mix and increase the volume of available fuel air mix. So on a MPI, where fuel comes in just before the head, it won't do much... But on a TBI, it stirs the fuel air mix before entering the manifold, and will increase volume, equaling a more noticeable, but not much, gain in performance. TBI, go for it. MPI, get something else. Rob L.
  20. This is very untrue, and I had believed this until I did some research. The "True" name for the ZJ D44 is not D44A, but really D44HD or heavy duty. While the aluminum case is still a crutch, it does not share much with the reg D44. The pinion shaft is almost interchangable with a D60, and it actually uses D60 pinion seals and yokes. The ring gear is massive, as well as the carrier to match. It uses 30 spline axles, and they retain a C-clip, but have disk brakes from factory... Any and all problems confronted with the aluminum case can be helped with trussing, or BTF makes a cover/truss kit that bolts on. I recently spoke with guys running 4.88's, aussies, and 35's with their D44HD and couldn't be happier. There are also more rare versions of the D44HD, that use a cast steel case to boot, and compliment the D60 like internals... The proper name for that behemoth is the "Super D44HD" Rant over. Rob L.
  21. Longbed or bust... My $200 baby is LWB. :D Oh yeah. Rob L.
  22. Stick, just because I like being an integral part of my car... Its the experience... Rob L.
  23. Guy with the MJ's came down to $200, here is his message: "It was a 4.0 6 cylinder, not sure about trans, 2 wd long bed. The fender and both doors have been changed. The windsheild is still good, back window is still good, nice seat, drive side door glass and passenger side is down in door. The box is very solid and dent on other side is not as bad as passenger side. This was a farm truck, so it got beat up, but came from southern Illinois so no rust or very little. Not much left of it, but what is there is solid. Got four steel white spoked rims, stock jeep rims.No title, I will take $200 cash that is what I paid for it, but now got custody of my kids and got bigger truck so don't need comanches no more." So, based on the drivetrain, I am thinking it has the possibility to be a Metric Ton. I might just have to go and take a look at it... Who knows? Could have a D44 hanging out underneath... :brows: Up for a road trip whowey? Rob L.
  24. Sh*t, that means I'll never win! I really like your truck. I think it is one of the best trail rigs on the site. If this does come to be. I would like to see it mixed up every month or so. Maybe a nice trail rig (yours), Daily Driver (Don's), or a project in the making (jbhills) picked. Just not the same style every month. I like that idea... I would hope to include MJ's at all levels, but maybe going in a rotation of wheeler, driver, project.... etc.. Would keep our choices short, and give everyone an equal shot. Maybe we could start with a mod's truck (not mine) just to lay out the format, and have an idea for what everyone is looking for... Rob L.
  25. I like the hell creek lift, but I would also opt for the CA drop brackets... Rob L.
