  1. Pistons like coffee cans. Rob L.
  2. Yeah, you missed the fact that it says "what did you do to your MJ today?", yet Jake's posts are ok. But it is still an MJ. Rob L. :D
  3. That would be good.. if they weren't liars. It really pisses me off how careful we, as MJ owners, have to be when shopping for parts. Those are XJ floor pans! They DO NOT fit! The front half pans in the first link may mostly work, but you'd still be on your own for the part the seat mounts to. Back half looks like XJ to me as well and would be completely useless. Might want to ask thes guys if they've actually ever seen an MJ floor. I my self had always read that the floors were only slightly different and that you could use part of an XJ floor pan. After re-doing my floor last year I would have to say "slightly different" is a stretch. Maybe about the front 1/3 is the same. I had a complete new XJ pan on hand when I started mine, but so little of it was useable that I couldn't bring myself to cut it up. BTW as far as I know there is no source for proper MJ pans. Wait, who's a liar? Rob L.

  5. Looks great and all, but where is the comancheclub decal? Rob L. :hmm:
  6. Never heard of him. I read up on him, besides the wiki link, and sounds like he was a nice guy who had just had enough. Didn't harm anyone, just their property... Still a shame though. Rob L.

  15. Replacing it is easy, but if you have to change camber or caster once its done, break out the BFH and a spot weld driller / chisel. You have to "Unweld" the upper strut mount from the body, and move it manually. :D Ford even put studs with nuts so you could refasten once the welds are broke, but still, should have just left the plant unwelded. Took me a couple, and the discovery of a sharp spot weld drill it to get good at it. Rob L.
  16. Fastenal planning a belly up Don? The local one had their Dodge in front with a for sale sign too, thought they just might be getting a new one, not liquidating. Rob L.
  17. Yeah. They are very common to miss. Last time I was at the junkyard, there were a couple guys struggling underneath an XJ, fighting the trans. I asked them if they had all the bolts out, and they said yes. They forgot the plate bolts. They are little guys, and easily overlooked. Rob L.
  18. I am with Correy, its really easy the first go-round to miss those cover plate bolts. Rob L.
  19. I like where your headed Don! Rob L.

  22. That is your axle vent. Trace it, and it will lead to the axle. That little white thing is where the vent cap was. There should be a little white hat thing on the end of that to protect it from contaminants. Go look under the rear and find that one, trace it to the end, and you will see what I am talking about. Rob L.
  23. If you leave it off, you have potential to introduce water and sand/mud into it because its under the truck, and its a work truck. Don't cap it because that's how the axle breathes when heating and cooling with use. You cap that thing off, and the pressure will start blowing out all of your axle seals. Happens to the dump trucks at work all the time when the vents get caked with mud. Is it really that hard to put the line back on? Rob L. :smart:
