  4. Totally. With a 3" lift, most quality kits will provide you new coils, new front brake lines, lower control arms and maybe a new track bar (or relocate the axle mounting hole). The rear would probably get a new (extended) shackle and an Add-A-Leaf (AAL). It will take about four hours if you have never done it before and would require a front end alignment (I just use a tape measure). As far as steps...........your lift would come with specific instructions but basically unbolt all the OEM stuff and replace it with the new AM stuff. :hijack: what 3 inch kits come with front brake lines? i'm gonna be going with a 3inch, most likely a rough country kit paired with hell creek rear leafs, and i've been looking at all the major company's kits (rough country, skyjacker, crusty's, hell creek, etc) and i've yet to find one that comes with front lines, hell most of the ones ive seen don't even have the rear extended line... maybe i'm looking for lift in all the wrong places... :dunno:
  5. craigslist is full of strokers.... i had a guy offer to trade me a door for a bobcat for my bronco.... i put out an ad seeking anyone whose bobcat door got stolen :rotf: on a sidenote, i'd trade for the tahoe or either of the cj's...
  6. welcome! don't live there anymore, but i was in c-town from 00-02 (went to OTC)...
  7. gross!
  8. thanks.. you wouldnt think these things would be so damm hard to find, but noone around here has any... :dunno:
  9. propane FTW! i got my heater at lowe's for $99, its a 80,000 btu radiant heater, and it doesnt need to be vented.... its sucks down propane like a big block sucks down fuel though.... i get about 10 hours of heat out of a 20lb. tank, but it heats up the garage real nice... http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=p ... lpage=none
  10. yeah, 'tis very true... i already have the poly trans mount so i figured i'd match the motor mounts with it.. i'm not going to be doing any hardcore rock crawling or anything where i'd need the added strength of poly, guess i'll just stick with stock ones...
  11. sorry, but they won't work.... the sonoma ones are about 10.25 lip to lip..... thanks though
  12. welcome to the club! beer's in the fridge... got any pics of the mj? and it won't have either of those transmissions, they only come with the 4.0... yours will have an ax-5 transmission in it, which is decent...

  14. i'm in the middle of doing the 4.0 swap into mine, my motor's on a stand right now.... i'm gonna do all the gaskets, all the sensors, throw on a set of poly motor mounts and give it a coat of paint...
  15. thanks, but those are for a fullsize and i have a sonoma, i'm not sure if they'll fit on the wheels...if possible could you measure the diameter of the back of one so i can compare? thanks!
  16. welcome!
  17. i stick to beer i'm ok.... however, if you want to meet the tazmanian devil in person hand me a bottle of JD or southern comfort... caught a bit of a buzz last night, no hangover though....i was drinking labatt blues
  18. yeah this truck is the first case i've ever seen of it.... but when we installed everything we made all new 4 gauge cables for it all and everything is grounded out to the frame itself... :dunno:
  19. the trunk monkey rules! i think the fact that mine has no front axle right now and half a motor left in it deters most thieves :rotf: besides that the fact that i keep it garaged also helps
  20. probably the wrong forum to post this in :rotf: but you never know..... like these ones here, for a safari van or sonoma pickup..... anyone have a set or know where one is?
  21. the best performance part they make for the 2.5 is an engine hoist, which you can use to replace it with a 4.0 :rotf:
  22. What would make taking the running gear out of the Astro swapped into an S-10, a Cyclone or a Typhoon? Weren't S-10s and blazers available with this same running gear, or are you talking about adding a V-8 with it? blazers and s10's never came from the factory with awd, only part time 4x4, but the syclone/typhoon uses the same 700r4/4l60e trans & tcase as the awd vans... the awd swap is simple, it's just like swapping from a np231 to a np242 on an xj/mj... however, unlike jeeps it can't easily be done on a 2wd truck cause the frame and suspension is different.... the turbo stuff however is a different story.... the factory 4.3 turbo stuff is super rare and even harder to find.... last i check a set of used factory syclone turbo manifolds was going for almost $700 on ebay, and noone makes aftermarket ones..... but even without the turbo, an awd s10 or blazer would be be pretty neat.....
  23. i spent 40 bux on the snap on truck and bought a mini torch, it's a blue point piece, part number torch4 .... works pretty good, even in moderate wind, which is good cause i usually use it 14 feet up in the air fixing light wires on semi trailers....
  24. where? i have never seen the 91-92 Eliminator decals... i thought someone on there was selling them... course it's been a while since i've looked :dunno:
  25. i had to check :rotf: guess i'm number 130
