Help! Searching for a shift indicator for an 88 MJ auto. The little red tit that shows you if your in park or drive etc. It screws into the gauge cluster on the dash. Need it to be complete with the two strings and clip that hooks it to the shift lever. If I must, I'll buy a complete cluster to get that indicator. Can't find it anywhere after market. My Fine China is gonna burn up this tranny doing 70 on the Turnpike in 2nd frickin gear cause she can't figure out that the third click is drive. She's killin me.

The 89 is spoken for. The 87 is still available. It is completely stock with zero rot but the black paint is faded out. Back bumper is a little wrinkled but still good. It is a 4,0L auto 4x4 LB Custom with 97,000 miles on the clock. The bed looks fantastic due to having a topper on for most of its life. Took top off but still have it if you want it. Everything works but needs a seat cover. Previous owner must have liked carrying screwdrivers and razor knives around in his back pockets. Waiting for that text so I can send you pics. $2900.00 OBO.

This day and age the newbys coming up by far have had it pounded into their heads that the only way to get a bad @$$ Jeep is to buy the plastic and al-loo-min-ium toys the factory churns out. And you gotta have a big expensive warranty because if it breaks we (the factory) are the only ones that can fix it. The kids don't realize that for 35,000 dollars they could learn to build their own ride, like it better and get a sense of satisfaction from it. 8 times over. But no, we'll keep our skulls pointed at a stupid @$$ video game or walking around with our pants down around our knees. Ooops! I just fell off my soap box. While I'm down here I guess I'll check my tie rod ends....

I'm with you there, brother. I have paid less for a house than they are trying to sell a new truck for. It turns into a vicious circle - if a dealer wants 55000.00 for a new pickup, then everybody thinks 20,000.00 for a used POS is s bargain! Count me out. There are plenty o' cheap gems out there. Just be patient and keep poking around. You will find it!

Not yet ;( We could not agree on the price. The truck is in good shape but it is no where near road ready. Adding every thing up that it needs puts it in the $800.00 range. He wants 3x that much and isn't budging. I wished him well and left my number.

OR I can trade ya the light for 1 or 2 of those little screw covers that fit over the passenger side grab handle screw. Tan or sand color preferred but will take any. 2 covers = 2 lights.

Our 86 Custom (nick named Baby Black, hence the Avatar name) has been in many scuffles since October of 1985 when we bought it from Pepe Jeep in Millville, NJ. About 6 months after the buy, my bride was making a left turn into a shopping center when a little old lady rams into the arse end with her Chrysler New Yorker. Her car actually dove under the MJ leaving the rear wheels on her hood with the bumper of the Jeep up near her windshield frame! No serious injuries but the Jeep needed a new bumper, gate, lights etc. etc. Wifey sued her too and settled for enough to pay off the Comanch! About 4 weeks after it was repaired, I was driving through an intersection in my town and a chic with a baby in the car made an illegal left right into the driver side door. My head hit the door glass so hard it shattered. The glass broke, too. The chics kid was not in a baby seat and flew up onto her dash and was laying between the windshield and glove box lid. She was in some Ford POS, a Tempo I think. Thank the Gods the kid was ok. He was a tough little bugger and was actually laughing thinking it was a great ride, I guess. Mom was aping out on me and it was HER fault! 'Nother lawsuit. Paid for Baby Black AGAIN! Drove the Manch back to the same body shop. New door, new bed and cab post re- construction. Those were the 2 main incidents in addition to many minor scrapes over the years. She is still running strong with 147,000 +/- miles and lots of cosmetic treatments. So is the Jeep. If I was intelligent enough to make Photobucket work properly, I would post a pic! Pete, how much per year would it cost to upgrade the site to post pics as easy as the Avater pic? I will send you a jug o' quarters instead of buying another MJ. Seriously.
