1986 Metric Ton Diesel
Babyblack86 replied to terrawombat's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Text me at 609-412-5935. I have pics for your build book of this truck. I hauled it into NJ from Connecticut. I'm the second sig on the title. I'm not smart enough to get pics on CC, so contact me direct, lol. Good luck with the restore job. I have an 86 X diesel I did myself. I'll get you some pics of that one as well. Nothing special about them other than the rarety. Best numbers I heard was 75 or 80 registered in the US total. Not everyone appreciates the fact that there are so few. Those of us who do get it. -
Hey guys, anyone have any 2.1diesel parts laying around? Specifically the timing belt cover. Also could use a full gauge cluster for diesel that includes the boost gauge. Thanks!

2.1 L turbo boost gauge

Thanks, JeepcoMJ. Is it stainless or plastic tube? Where does it start on the turbo...underneath and along the firewall? There is nothing obvious around the turbo top. -
2.1 L turbo boost gauge

I feel abandoned... -
The boost gauge on my 2.1 L diesel does not work. Is it electric operation or vacuum / positive air flow operation. The turbo is working fine. I don't know what to look for wires or vacuum tubes.

My tach on my 2.1L lays on zero. While cranking the starter it will jump around 0 - 1500 RPM. When started, tach reads nothing. Any advice?

There you go Tom, you could conduct payed tours of all the bone yards you've scouted out over the years.

Forgot I had this posted. My brother fabricated steel replacements for me about 2 weeks ago . Even powder coated them black. Nice to have a machinest in the family,

MJOTM - September, 2014 - Usamedic's '87 Chief

GREAT LITTLE TRUCK! Good color choice. No advice offered my friend. Just admiration! BRAVO! -
You will need to PM 86 MJ for that info. He is the BONE YARD KING.

Got plenty of open parking space plus 2 acres of woods to hide Jeeps in. Put up a 24x30 pole barn 10 years ago. Can fit 4 Jeeps in there. Added a 22x26 steel car port 2 years ago. Can fit 3 LB MJ or 6 Wranglers under there. Have a new 24x32 car port going up Monday! Lots more under cover space there. Total of 24x88 under cover space. AND ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE!

In NJ vehicle must be 25 years or older to qualify for the QQ tags. One time fee ( was it 75.00?) and no more state inspection. You are restricted in terms of use for other than parades, club meetings, car shows, cruises etc. I have on only one of my 86 Comanche Custom. That one gets shown a lot. May apply for the diesel soon.

MY MAIN MAN! What you just got? Don't keep me hangin' here!

Hey y'all. I need the two PVC mounting strips that attach a factory "COMANCHE" bed liner to the bed sides. This is for a long bed. They should be easy enough to ship by rolling them up. Lord knows they ain't heavy. What are they worth? I guess whatever you want. I can't find em anywhere. Cash or trade. What do you need? Thanks! South Jersey 08037.

Go to EBay. Type in Buick Olympic emblems. After a month long search I bought a pair of these for my 88 Olympic Edition MJ. They look great. Text me at 609-412-5935 if you want a pic of them on the Jeep.
-
No, for some reason they are very rare. I have an 86 since new and it did not have them on! I have a pair I recently found but they are going on the 86.

Google CL South Jersey. Jeep Comanche. I have an 87 MJ LB 4x4 Rollbar 97000 miles. 4.0L but it is auto not stick. All new brakes, new paint, good tires and wheels. Ride the bus to NJ and drive it home. $6100.00 or best offer. Can't post pics on this forum. Mike. 609-412-5935. Call or text.
-
Can't help you with the clip or skid plates. The roll bar I have is not a Jeep OEM piece. The guy I bought it from snookered me. It fits an MJ with a little tweaking here and there but it's from a Ranger. Look up CL South Jersey under Comanche for a pic of the roll bar mounted in an 87 I have up for sale. Black 87 with roll bar for 6100.00 OBO.

Two buddy's have a classic car club they hang out with. Bob has a gorgeous 66 Impala with a 409 and Robert has a 70 Monte Carlo. Both are high dollar restorations. They invited me to a few of the car shows to show my 88 MJ. I was getting so much attention from the crowd that my buddy's were actually getting pissed!

Tailight Housing Repair?
Babyblack86 replied to Bonkers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's not factory. 99% sure it's Ford. Put it in the back of one of my LB and it just doesn't sit right. Need to fabricate some custom brackets to make it work. P.S. That little DIY dent may cost you 500.00 at a body shop. -

By the way, did you find a tail light yet? -

That sheet metal is soft. Work it straight with a pair of vice grips. Hell, I straighten bumpers with a pipe wrench! -
Drench them with penetrating oil and let it soak overnight. OR try heating up the nut with a small torch. BE CAREFUL! Keep some water or an extiquisher handy. Roasted Comanche does not taste like chicken.
