How about an 89 4.0L 5 speed with air? Solid body and frame. No rust or rot. Floors solid. Runs and drives good. Needs AC charged. Interior good. Needs headliner of course. Already has a 2" lift. Red with blacked out turbine wheels. Paint faded but all there. Only body dent in passenger door. If interested I can get pics to, just not on this forum. Must use email or phone.

Praise The Lord and pass the OEM parts, I found them on eBay. They are on the way. Thanks to those who reached out to assist. Still having picture problems. If I ever get it right I will post a pic of them installed.

I don't know, I thought I took it pretty well. I can take a poke in the ribs as well as the next guy. Guess my reply must have come across as harsh to you fellas but that's fairly mild as it goes in Jersey (Soprano State & all that). If I could see ya face to face, I'd just give ya the Manson lamps and laugh like a hyena. Gotta go now. The kid down the street that's been sitting on a nice 87 4.0 5 speed with a 2.5" lift has finally called and is ready to sell. Gonna take a jug o' quarters and my $69.00 tow bar and try to steal it. (This MJ was MINE 8 years ago. Sold it when I was hard up for cash for $2500.00 to some dude from Delaware. How it got back into my own back yard should be a good story to hear.) ]8{)> -
Ever have a saggy headliner? The cause is the sun/heat. If you can park your MJ with a good headliner in the shade or indoors, the glue will not de-laminate. For the 99% that are already hanging, just RIP EM OUT! We don't need no stinking headliners! Removal of the fabric and the foam backer leave you handy storage shelves all the way around the cab. A rattle can full of your favorite mix of toxic colored chemicals makes it pleasing to the eye and saves you a good 150 +/- bucks that can be better spent elsewhere. It also gives us fat @$$ / too tall bastids more headroom. Now if I could only find a cheap way to stretch the cab and move the seat back 4 inches. Has anyone ever extended their cab and installed the big Cherokee doors that come on a 2 door? That's my dream project but would cost more than I ever paid for an MJ!

What is the "right way" to take it? I make my living selling pencils and apples on the corner in my home town. When I get a jug full o' quarters, I buy another MJ. What a putz! Glued the mirror tab back on Farmers windshield today. Boy do I feel productive. Let me run out and take a pic of that real quick to keep my new buddy amused..... -

Got all the fluids changed out on the Burger. Oil looked like molasses. The gear lube in the rears had water in it but not excessive. Trans and transfer case looked good but I changed the lube anyway. Drained the radiator and flushed it out back yard style with a garden hose. There were no records with the purchase so no telling when the last service was ever done. Climbed underneath the crushed back bumper and sprayed all the bolts down with penetrating oil. I've got a new Westin black step I picked up cheap at a swap meet that will fit nicely on the old brackets that I'm gonna have to heat up and beat back into shape. Good exercise. There's some body damage on the drivers side bed where the bumper slammed home. A couple of wacks with a hammer and a pick ax will bring that mess back into shape. Enough for today. My backs killing me... -

Got the Farmer up off the ground yesterday and put 4 matching tires and wheels on that I had laying in the barn. Now at least it will roll. Tried charging up the ancient Sears Weatherbeater battery but no real success. Too far gone. Ran over to Wal-mart with the dead Sears bat and picked up a replacement @ 84.00 - 9.00 core credit plus the Governors share. New juicer in place, the Farmer actually started, stale gas and all. Lifters were a little clacky till the antique oil got circulating and a little heat built up. Slapped her in Drive and it moved! Got all gears. Will wonders never cease. Got to the back of the property and Wham! It just shuts down. I started her back up and it ran for about 10 seconds and shut down again. After hobbling back to the barn for a chain and a tractor I towed it back. It seems to run fine after it cools down. Once it starts to get to operating temp it shuts off. My neighbor says its probably a crank sensor? Gotta do some research on this one. I never had this happen to any of my MJ's before. -

I beg to differ. For the Avatar a pop up box appears to select a photo. Not so with postings, at least not on my iPhone. I will keep trying. Thanks. -

Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment. There are actually 4. First one is an 86 2x LB 2.5L auto bought new in Oct. of 1985. Only option was an AM radio. Sticker was $6195.00 +/-. It has seen 2 accidents, 1 OEM color re-paint ( that crappy half yellow half brown tan AMC offered ) and them a color change to Plum Crazy/Purple that lasted about 6 years. She is now black and old skool resurrected with 147000 miles and the iron horse is still running strong. If I ever figure out how to post pics on this Forum I will post 'em all including the 88 Olympic that some brothers are scoffing at. You will drool, ya bastid! -
Project #1 is the Farmer. Number 2 is Big Ton Hamburger. Named as such 'cause I found her in Hamburg PA, about 110 miles from my S. Joisey home. It's a 5 speed 4.0 4x LB with full gauge cluster. She would start but would not stay running. Frame is solid but its a PA truck and the floors and rear wells are showing the salt. Interior is surprisingly good. Even the headliner is intact, not even sagging! No tears in the rubber matting either. Buying off a Mom & Pop lot, it was listed @ $2900.00. Using all the bargaining chips such as rust, rot, smashed rear bumper, no operating gauges ( a fresh fuse fixed that ) and even flirting with Pop's daughter, I got her for $1900.00. Not bad considering only 98000 miles and snaring a Metric Ton. Next day I dragged or is it drug? my bride back to Hamburg with a Harbor Freight $69.00 tow bar in the bed of the 05 Rumble Bee hauler. Wifey helped hook her up (she's good that way) in between eyeing up Pops daughter and wandering around the lot looking for Wranglers which is her obsession. Towed Burger back with no problems. Avoided a major disaster about to happen due to cheap HF bolts loosening during the trip. Unhooking the rig, one tow bracket literally dropped off at my feet! Good thing we didn't need to go another mile! What a mess that would have been. Burger has been sitting in the yard for a few weeks now while my wallet heals. To be continued....

I'm new to the Forum, so here's my 1st post. Found an 87 4.0 4x LB auto with a topper on CL. It was listed under Cadillacs. Sitting on a farm it was abandoned for at least 12 years. Had 2 flats, stone dead battery and covered in grease and mud. Got it for 1/2 asking price and towed her home. What a rat! BUT... there be a gem underneath. To be continued....

Olympic stickers-the pics were very helpful. Was not sure what the fender stickers looked like. I had never seen any. Now at least I know what I'm looking for . Thanks again. New to the forum so if I ever figure out how to post pics I will do so for the nay sayers.

Floor pans - Google Quadratech. They are in PA and sell Cherokee pans cheap. They fit. Did my 86 with a pair. -
Wanted. A pair of 1988 Comanche fender badges and the 2 "USA with Olympic Rings" badges that apply over the Comanche emblems. 609-412-5935 if that's easier.
