  3. I'm broke as @#$%. plus I don't got the room, you know with my 86 manch, the 90 chero for parts, the 98 Dakota and my 04 KX-125(The bike cost almost as much as the other three put together). also still living with the parents isn't helping much either :P edit: on the plus side its about have the distance I had to travel for my first Comanche

    2018 Wagoneer.

I fear we will be disappointed in the results we get. :(
  6. I've got a mask, also double cover-alls to prevent sparks from burning me.
  7. I think I'll try it my self first, just to see how it goes, if not my friends dad does welding as a job and I'll see if he's willing to help. Look around and find some heavy material......or an old junk yard axle would be great......run some practice beads and weld some junk together.....take a sledgehammer to them after and see how well thy hold. You can do it..... That would a smarter to do it. I'll have to see if I can find some cheap scrap somewhere.
  8. I just saw the elcamino version of this today cursing whyte ave.

  10. My axle is nice and shiny, now I just need to get some perches. will any universal work or should I use something specific? Also i'm doing it up SOA style if it matters.
  11. thank you for you guys advice, yes I am able to reverse the polarity of my welder so i should be able to run flux core wire. If I do so should I pre-heat before attempting or will it be good to go "cold"?
  12. So when I started this project I bought a little 110v 140 amp Lincoln MIG welder to patch some holes in my truck. I'm now getting ready to put new perches on my D44. Will my welder be able to successfully weld them on, or is it not powerful enough? thanks.
  13. I pick up a D44 a while ago for My MJ. Today I Final got around to clean/striping so I can weld the perches in the proper spot for the truck. The 10mm was to big, and i don't own a set of imperial wrenches. so an angle grinder and a 9mm did the trick. time for a break, Ahhh the life pretty much done now that Cherokee seat is where I sit and admire my work :) (that's the donor XJ, no room for both the MJ and XJ, so the MJ sits at a rental property.
  14. sadly no, but right now the only thing in the truck is a seat, a steering wheel and cluster.
  15. So we've had some nice weather as of late, so I decide that before my Comanche is in to many piece to drive. So I swap my insurance from my Dakota to the manche. So now I'm off (in the manche) to visit my friend at work to help him put new brakes on his RX7. I showed up a bit early, so I needed to waste some decided that I would get something to eat, but I miss the turn to the mcD's so i had to go down half a block to turn around at which point smoke starts pouring out off the engine bay. Turns out it was just a small electrical fire but the wire housing just smoked a lot. down side is 1 my battery is now dead, it shorted it self, and 2 that wire happen be be the one that connected the ignition to that starter. So I pushed it off the road into a parking with the help of a nice passer-byer. sadly I was now stuck with a 20 min walk back to my friends shop (worked at ford dealer). got there told him what happened, got laughted at but also got the tools and a free battery to get me back on the road. also had to make a quick trip to princess auto (Canadian harbour freight) to pick up some new wires. and now she up and running as good as it get with a 2.8 pushing 350xxxKM and a Picture just because. This was after I fixed (not that it shows much) My 86 and his 85
  16. What is this rust everyone keeps talking about? With the gate closed the eyes of the cable point upward. Water works it's way down the cable to the loop at the bottom of the folded cable........or the center of the cable.......and rust eats the cable in two. I replaced the cables on my Ranger three times in 14 years. I still got my original cables on my 98 Dakota, but they've stretched to where one side rest on my bumper :\
  17. I have a 4 piece, it ok but I think I'd prefer a 3 piece. With the 4 piece (or at least mine) sometimes it binds so when I was driving it was kind of a pain to open\close it. When your stopped tough open\closing it isn't to bad, and with that I feel like a 3 piece is better. But that's just my experience with it, others may say different.
  18. I see, well thanks anyway.
  19. dude, i'm liking the YJ front end looks neat.
  20. I was ripping some parts out out my parts XJ and I noticed that the head liner is in pretty good shape, is there anyway to modify it to fit in to my MJ? Thanks in advance for any advise
  21. oh wow, lot more complex then I expected.
  22. Do you just have a spark plug connected to the battery in your exhaust, or is it slightly more sophisticated then that?
  23. flame-thrower = Awesome :clapping:
  24. seeing as I'll be installing them myself I think I should be able to splerge a little on the shipping :P Th only other thing stopping my is the damn weather, we just got another dump of snow :fs1: and I don't like working outside if it not nice out.
  25. most of my rust is closer to the pedal, So hopefully it should fit ok. Also still haven't decide which I want to use yet.
