  2. sorta, in between the "frame" bit and the door is bad, there wasn't much there, but in-between the "frame" and the tranny hump is still good. and I did try to weld in some pieces but 1 doesn't really look that nice, and 2 It did not function overly well as patch. that was for the driver side. The passenger is all still there including paint. and Gogmorgo thanks for the heads up about the differences.
  3. Hello, I've been wondering where you guys have been finding your replacement floor pans, as I haven't been able to find any in the sore around where I live?
  4. thanks for help help guys and thank you Incommando for confirming my suspicions
  5. I've recently purchased a D44 for the rear of my MJ, which will probably be getting an auto locker (like an Aussie locker) however, right now I'm more concerned about the front. From how I understand the AWD functionally will effectively be useless. because as you round a corner the outer wheel moves faster which would cause the locker to activate. so my question is: Am I right, or is there something I have overlooked? Thanks in advance any input is appreciated.
  6. that's ok, i'm just trying to get a feel for the cost of it. I'm still a few weeks away form needed anything.
  7. please disparaged this, I got confused and asked for the wrong thing, sorry to have wasted your guys time.
  8. too bad i've never seen an H1 in the JY around here :(
  9. so when I swap the axles I won't have to do a CAD fix cause there won't be one?
  10. I'm swaping the whole drive-line so it shouldn't matter.
  11. thanks guys this info has all been very useful, I agree, but The torque ratings are very close, I think the only reason the 231 is stronger than the 242 was the fact the 242 has the "open" center diff. I have the 242 in my jeep and now that both front and rear axle ratios match again i will be leaving it in Full time 4wd.. One thing to consider is the D30 U-Joints on sharp turns can jerk the steering wheel when in any 4wd mode. I converted over to CV joints to solve that problem. by open center diff you mean when it in AWD right and not the part time 4x4.
  12. nothing to extreme, in terms of off-road. so it should be fine then. thank you for your help.
  13. when it done id like a decent split between on and off road drive-ability.
  14. The donor Cherokee for my Comanche has a NP242 in it (I'm fairly sure) I was wondering what the major pros and cons over an NP231. thanks
  15. I've slowly patching the holes in my truck, also recently found a donor for my truck, it a 1990 Cherokee for 350$ :) with 4l I6 what I think is a NP242 transfer case (the one with both full and part time 4x4) i think it has an aw4 auto but I don't want, so until it goes I don't care what it is, i"ll try to get some pics here later this week.
  16. so I had to take my 98 dakota into the shop on monday as it is to cold outside to work on it :( and in it's stead I got to drive my dads 07-08 ranger, as a DD it a really nice truck, better then mine, but I can't get over how gutless it 3.0L engine feel compared to my 3.9L, I know that mines a little bit bigger but still there both 6cyl engines I just can't believe that my truck which is ten years older has so much more get-up-and-go. (also there both 5 speed stick).
  17. I'm from Deadmonton AB so chalk us up one more (best pic i have, it in slightly better shape now)
  18. does the 3.4 actually put out a decent amount of power compared to the 2.8?
  19. thanks for the help everyone, I'd prefer a 4L over the 3.4L as it sounds that it has carburettor, and if and when I do an engine swap I'd like it to be EFI.
  20. So I recently bought an 86 Comanche, which me and my friend quickly dubbed "Fat Betty" with the slogan of "She's a b*@$£" She drives alright, needs a basic tune up, along with a few other thing to make it road legal in my province. The brakes on it were all in great shape considering how the rest of it looks, the drums were a pain to get off though, had to coax em off with a hammer and pry bar. as well as unhooking the Ebrake. I need to get a real jack... ratcheting wrenches a awesome. there in good shape yay, less money I need to spend on it :) The front was less of a hassle other then three lugs which required this set up, I pretty much step all of my 150 pounds while pulling up on it, it got the job done as well as give my tire iron a good bending. and lastly at least for today a pic of the interior and the entrance to one of many spider nest. she needs some work, but its looking like a fun project :) Next I intend to change all fluids next. and then trying to find and replace any leaky seals october 7 2013 i've patched one of the hole, as well a got some new BGF at's for it i'll hopfully have some pics up before the end of the week
  21. oh, alright then, I'll keep a look out for one the seems in decent shape, I was just thinking of the 3.9 because it looked about the same size physically as the 2.8.

I need to get a real jack... as this point she's really living up to her slogan. ratcheting wrenches a awesome. there in good shape yay, less money I need to spend on it :) The front was less of a hassle, other then three lugs required this set up to remove them push down with one foot and pull up with my hand, I was pretty much putting all of my 150 pound in to this, finaly got them all off and put a good bend in my tire iron :/ and lastly of today a shot of the interior, and the entrance to one of the many spider nest in this thing.
  23. like I said, I don't really which one I have, and the reason for wanting the AX-15 is that I do plan to later swap a 3.9 V6 out of a dakota in to it. those engines don't seem to big, so I'm it will go in easier then beating in a 4liter.
  24. Thanks, I'am not entirely sure what is has, I haven't taken a good look at it yet, but the trans has four foward gears plus OD, and I would like to have a five speed, but I'm not quiet ready to do all the work for an engine swap just yet.
