  1. Good to hear. I'd rather support your venture, anyway. Unfortunately I'm not in the market for sliders, but I may be interested in a bumper or three....
  2. They're taking pre-orders for SWB sliders, apparently: http://comancheclub.com/topic/49350-nates-4x4-swb-sliders/?hl=nates
  3. Could it be that wonky French engine under the hood (or lack thereof)...
  4. I noticed the fuel "booster" pump located near the fuel filter. This engine was designed to work without the use of a booster pump. My '86 2.1L diesel Comanche also came with an owner-installed booster pump and it was the first thing that I removed. The engine idle smoothed out quite a bit when I removed it. I'm also not too sure that it was even in working condition so it was likely causing more of a blockage in the fuel delivery than it was helping. Might want to consider removing it and installing a barbed coupler in its place to see if it has any positive effects on keeping the engine running.

  6. Poor Renix system...no love.
  7. Mine is 1986 - not because it was the first model year that the MJ was sold, but because you have a better chance of finding the more desirable options in that particular model year (i.e. bucket seats, center console, power windows/door locks). It almost seems as though AMC/Jeep manufactured more "high-end" MJ models to promote the new truck, but then reverted back to mostly base trucks in subsequent years. 1987 is a close second since that year was the first for the Laredo model. What is your favorite model year? That doesn't necessarily mean it's the best model year, although depending on how you rate vehicles, favorite and best may be one in the same to you.
  8. They may as well just call it the 2018 Jeep Wrangler Pickup because that's all it's ever going to be.
  9. Yikes. We got far less on the Eastern Shore, but still enough to cause issues. I think we got about 12-14". I spent about 12 hours Friday night through Saturday morning plowing through the worst parts of the blizzard. The snowfall was fairly light, but consistent. The high winds are what really screwed everything up. As soon as I was done with one property 3-6" drifts were already piling up. Eventually called it quits around 6am on Saturday and got some shut eye. Fortunately the guy I was working with found a few more people willing to make some bucks and I never had to go back out.
  10. I just hope they actually put a good payload and towing capacity rating on this truck (I'm still highly skeptical they'll ever actually make it) for the people that actually like to use a truck....as a truck.
  11. Do the standard oil filters not have enough capacity?
  12. As does my company, although it's been slowly declining since China has ramped up their fiber optic manufacturing.
  13. Corning?
  14. Nice looking truck. I still have the white '92 that we swapped several years ago. Other than blowing through clutch slave cylinders it's running strong!
  15. Just saw the BA-10/5 in half. Best solution.
  16. Let me know if you need any more engineering assistance. I have both SWB and LWB MJs to use as a template.
  17. I've got one of these laying around somewhere. I also just acquired a Renix Jeep so I'll see if I have the right combination of accessories to get it to talk. The big question is...what storage container is it hiding in? I don't recall unpacking it when I moved 4 years ago.
  18. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the lot. I'm dealing with a very similar situation at my current place of employment where there has been a steady decline in morale followed by an unusually high turnover rate that is typically only observed in the retail store industry. Frivolous policies and procedures have been put into place that are supposedly there to protect employee well-being and to help create a more efficient work-flow. It's basically one man's idea on how a company should be run and it's his way or "don't let the door hit you on the way out." This man touts that he has decades of experience running international, multi-billion dollar corporations yet he somehow is unable to manage a small business of 60 employees. He's incredibly difficult to work with and he demands that everything must go through him before it is approved, but he's not able to approve anything in a timely manner - he's a complete bottleneck to the company. The best part is that has convinced the owners of the company that he is not the rotten apple, but others within the company (I'm sure myself is included since I butt heads with him on a regular basis) are bringing down morale. Be fortunate that you've found something else to move on to. I haven't been so lucky yet...
  19. At least I shared my efforts to get this effort accomplished whereas the other blabber fabricated a hitch, posted pictures and then called us all morons because we were overthinking it and it was so easy to do.
  20. Basically the only thing I did that nobody else could do, that was such a big deal, was get the plates cut in quantity and quality. And with the help of, I think, terrawombat (sorry if that wasn't who it was) for giving me the template they made, I only had maybe an hour of my personal time with having it drawn up, test plate lasered out, test fit on my truck, re-engineered just a tiny bit and a 2nd test plate cut out. And an hour to cut out 20 sets of plates... Anybody that woulda had access to a $650,000 laser could've had them cut out just as easily Yes, that was me. Appreciate you getting this done. I never had the means to mass produce anything beyond the hitch plates. Ultimately people were not as interested in those as they were in getting a fully welded assembly. I also purchased one of your hitches and it's top notch. I'll be sending it to the powdercoater this winter for my diesel MJ project.
  21. Got it - I see it now.
  22. Perhaps. There are a ton of differences there. I can snap some pictures of my 86 but I think there are even more differences due to the diesel.
  23. I don't believe there is either.
