  1. the bench and cab size are the only things i dislike about the mj, then again, i'm 6'1". its not bad though, have taken her on 2-3 day road trips, without to much problems. i honestly can't speek for the 5.9l i do know that 5.2L (in a dakota) loves gas.
  2. hehe, found the problem, the plug was loose, the one going to the headlights...thanks guys!
  3. hey all. happy st pat's day/night my query is the headlights on das mj, of 1991 vintage, 4.0, 2wd (i know..working on it...) they died out on my earlier tonight as i was driving with 2 freinds to the bar, they came back on for a bit after a bump, but then died again, never to be seen again. i drove them home and me with the 4way's on, suprisingly didn't get pulled, ride everywhere, no worries, didn't touch a drop, but still, no headlights? tail lights were fine. any ideas on where to start? thanks, taco p.s. i appologize in advance if this makes no sense, as its 4am, and me sleepy. night all!
  4. have to view the site in ie, wopn't work good in firefox, very nice mj!
  5. I thought that the 4.3 was a 90* block and used the SBC bellhousing pattern. I might be wrong though. your right, the 4.3l does have the 90 degree bolt pattern, the 60 deg. motors are the 2.8L 3.1L and 3.4l
  6. for motor look at the 3.4L gm its a bolt in, if you have the 2.8L and has decent power
  7. there is no easy way to get the torx off. i used a tork bit and a wrench when i did mine. if you intend to do this again, i'd replace the trox with hex head bolts
  8. nice find! thanks
  9. the milage difference isn't that much less, about the same on the highway. i like 'em lots of room under the hood, but i would think a 5 speed is a must. another factor is your location, how many clean mj's are there around you?
  10. i had a 88, tbi 4 popper, loved it, bullet proof. its good offroad, good low end torque for a 4 cyl, goes anywhere a 4.0L goes, only not as fast, but then again, its a jeep..no speed involved
  11. from what i know, the bolt pattern is the same as a np231, the d300 has a 23 spline input..should work with most np t-cases
  12. hehe, i seen it, same thing in sahara..only the movie people swap it with a modded something else for the destroy scene

    Puke Goat??

a peugot transmission, found in earlier jeeps is often referd to as a puke goat, as it has the bad habit of dieing
  14. it is possible that i am wrong, could you draw a picture? i think i know what your saying, but would like to be sure, thanks
  15. i disagree mate, tailgate down, it was designed to hold stuff in the box, not to help with aerodynamics (sp?) using high tech engineering software (ms paint) i shall show air flow. blue is with tailgate, red without. them caps or tonnue (sp?) covers work well. too, keeps the majority of the airflow out of the box, which reduces swirling.
  16. lookin good, all you need now are some 31's :D
  17. basically under the bumper, looks like a shell on the right and left side

    stereo?

das olde '88 (rip) had a pioneer h/u and 5.25" alpines in the door, a set of sony explode 6x9's behind the seat. kicked pretty good, the less olde mj, has the same, with the bonus of some alpine tweeters in the dash. i like me tunes, can't drive without
