  1. yikes, i know what your going thru, its a stage, terrible* stage at that. what I would do, is get it to run, your engine and tranny will last long enough to get a stroker built up, the 8.8 should be fine, no worries there, the d30, keep it for now, don't waste money on it, drive it till it dies, while waiting for it to die, take your time to build a nice 44, or 60  other then that, if you need a brake from the mj, take a break, its not a crime, heck, it helps get your mind out of it, so when you come back, everything looks alot simpler. good luck mate p.s. lousy word filters..grrr... i see your in bc, if your looking for a box, why not drive down to cali, long haul, but rust free parts...just a thought
  2. i belive there are 4 leafs, could be wrong, 31's should fit in a stocker. no clue on the stock ride hight, there is 1.5" diff between my 88 and 91 (88 is higher), given it was a 2.5 stick, compared to the 4.0L auto (heavier) i'm done rambling..
  3. hahaha, sorry mate, its going in the other one, why keep a turdy 5 if you don't have to...unless your planing on feeding me, then we might have a deal.. :P on the little motor thing, a carbed 350 is is easy to set up and run, and very comon and cheap. agreed a light motor would help with the wieght, but it gets more expencive, as adaptors are needed, with a 350, there are no pricy bellhousings needed to bolt up a solid tranny, like a 4500, or some other big lump of gears, but thatnks for shooting..brain kicked, is the 4.3L crabed?
  4. budget is good..wieght is good..keep it coming guys!, alas i can't start right away, in the research stage. right now there is a d44 in the rear, butr i want the width of a fullsize, as most of the trails here have been chewed up good by one certain moron..my buddies yj, with 31's can't get thru if its wet. keep it coming uys!
  5. random pics of the blue mj, (i started doing repairs on the frame, but the suspension mount is gone, soo.. anyways, in .zip format: http://www.geocities.com/bummtek/88mj.zip
  6. time oisn't a big deal, single as a tomato growing in the desert! safe there.. thanks guys keep them coming!! i think a hot pink mj with neons on 42's would be nice :D
  7. well, if you read my mj is sad post, you will know i have one somewhat alive mj, and one less alive mj. the less alive is my pay truck, big motor, diesel preferably, and fullsize axles. i was thinking maby making it into a go anywhere camper? and ideas? any other random and cool ideas? go nuts guys! (pics on the way..)
  8. hehe, those are awsome, true too, its just ALOT of work..again..i shall take pics soon
  9. pictures once there is light..the 91 isn't all bad..i guess..body's rough, can fix it, just hate body..the 88 is a sad story, gonna be a trail only
  10. my pretty (to me) 1988 mj shortbox is dead, frame is gone, bad gone. now have a 1991 longbox mj, but the body is er...sad? me thinks mj's are evil..always being bad to me....
  11. lookin good mate, keep it up! nice clean truck btw
  12. kinda sounds like there is not enough fluid in the lines, or you have a small leak somewhere. did you check all the steel lines? they tend to rust and die. other then that, i'ma clueless
  13. cherokee buckets do fit, but the mounting locations on the floor are different, i just welded in new studs. they are a little higher then the bench, so you will have less head room.
  14. i put a 4.0l into my '88 which origionally had a 2.5L you need the new mounts, the ones that bolt onto the frame, and a new rad suport. i need to move my tranny x-member back. bur i whent from stick to auto, not sure if it makes a difference though. i can't coment on the wiring, as i never got the swap done, had to re-gut the whole damn truck because of a previous screw-up i thought i had fixed. good luck mate, it is do-able, just takes alot of time and a fair chunk of cash
  15. 4.0L and the 4.2l are very similar. 4.2L is carbed the 4.0L is mpfi or efi. what are you looking for out of the engine? you mentioned you wanted fuel injection, then get the 4.0L. of cource if your just looking for power, you could always stroke the 4.0L to a 4.6 or 4.8 gl, and feel free to post any questions.
  16. wow, got yourself a project there! the xj console will work, you need the mouting brackets from the xj though. not hard at all really. i can't help you with the doors, a plug right before the rubber might be your best bet. i do have the rear speakers in my truck, i can take a pic on friday, if you want (mj's at my parents place) but why don't you put some 6x9's behind the seat? sounds much better, and they don't take to much room. good luck!
  17. purrdy, whatcha all got? i see boxes, box of gears, box with rims, and brown....you made me curious! looks like your ready to build a new truck
  18. it is quiet, we need somebody other then me to do something reduculusly stupid with there mj, and make many good posts about it.
  19. it would be a biatch, as the frames are a different width. you would have to mod the xj hitch enough to warant a custom built.
  20. this is mine, 2 years ago, at the moment there is not much left of it, being striped, having most rust removed, painted, 4.0L 4x4 swap, d44 rear, still have the 30 up front, for now. wagoneer interior, pwr everyhing, leather, etc. now i just need to finish it 8)
  21. i'll see 1 or 2 per day, most are in decent condition, which is suprising for ontario
  22. if from an xj, you just need to re-locate the perches, the rest is bolt in, and will fit right, my d44 from the 87 xj fits very nicely. i like the locker idea! :-D (good lord, just realized i can't spell :( )
  23. never seen it, but if its the right width, i don't see why it wouldn't work. just weld new perches in the correct location. i'm assuming it came from an xj?
  24. thanks, now i just gotta play with it to get the picture clear...darn technology.......
  25. being as graphically challanged as i am, am not capable of figuring out how to resize my picture? how does one do this? thanks for listening to my stupid question..
