  1. I imagine it would be easy to grab a different style switch from any make of vehicle and adapt it also. One thing to keep in mind that flat spot on the rod has got to be real close to the original spec. If too much material is left the brake lights will be on all the time. Too little and they don't come when your foot first touches the pedal. Best to ground some off then check it and repeat if necessary.
  2. Yeah, you're that lucky. I frequented all of those JYs when I lived up there. I think they contributed to my divorce. :wrench:
  3. I'm talking about the bolts on the bottom of the exhaust manifold flange that hold both the intake and exhaust manifolds to the head. The bolts in the middle are the tricky ones. Remove your airbox and you should be able to sneak your arm under the intake to get at them with a ratchet.
  4. That's because CO is Jeep Mecca, TX not so much. MJs hardly pop here, I've seen two in about 20 yards I've visited. Plus most down here are relatively rust free so I consider it my duty to help our brothers up in the rust belt.
  5. Love the truck man, awesome build page!
  6. Yeah the lower bolts are a pain, I got mine out from the top contorting my arm in the process. You can do it without taking the upper control arm off, no wait, mine was lifted 6" at the time. You could try unbolting the sway bar links, then jacking it up supporting the frame and let the suspension completely decompress for more room.
  7. The top of the tail gate had several dents but the latch worked well. It opened easily.
  8. Yeah the bumper had a few twists in it but could be easily restored.
  9. Dropped by a JY in Waco today. Found a Pioneer, (Rob, I was a douche and did not get the VIN, sorry). Bench seat and a very ratty interior, does have a workable tailgate that's a little beat up. D35 rear. The bumper has both endcaps. I would have yanked it but I didn't have any tools with me. If you're interested, here's their website: http://www.bandbautoparts.net/ They'll pull and ship it to you. Jay
  10. The 95 XJ booster should be a direct swap.
  11. They're an easy install, can be done in a day. Hardest part is cutting off the stock lower control arm brackets.
  12. I believe a Wrangler 231 is clocked different but will still work. You're best bet is an AX15/231 combo from an XJ.
  13. Yeah I watch it all the time. Mike always sells the cars cheaper than he could. Sort of adds to his charm since he never tries to rip people off.
  14. The new one has a Flowmaster Cat and muffler. Can't think of anything else, actually that shouldn't make that much difference since my current DD 5.9 has a Flowmaster muffler with a stock cat but also a K+N FIPK. Now the DD also burns a little oil. These heads do have a problem with cracking so it could be that or there's oil making it past the piston rings. Who knows? Only thing I haven't changed is the O2 sensors. It is also carrying about 200-300 lbs of extra stereo equipment, not sure, I didn't weigh all that junk. Tough to determine the health or strength of a motor these days. It seems a well maintained high mileage engine always out performs the same engine with non-maintained and abused low mileage. My first one (white) with 233K miles was also faster than my current DD and got better mileage. I get 15 maybe 17 mpg if I'm lucky, the PO who had the new one for the last 150K said he routinely would get over 20 with it on the highway. They've both got a bit over 170K on them and neither throw any codes. Yeah, I'd be interested in several parts when it comes that time, PM me when you start to tear her apart....An MJ with one of these engines would be "Hot"! They've got more timing and a different CPU then the regular Truck version of the 5.9. If I keep this one I think I'll go more of this route with it eventually....http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/ ... index.html
  15. But I did find Herbie, Also found a scraper on his way to crush a J20. I did my duty and gave him a proper education on the value of these trucks. He's supposed to call me about the axles but he hasn't called. Maybe because he caught on to my subtle accusations of sacrilege that basically went something like "you're going to hell for this you &^@#%$". It was in terrible shape before he cut it up anyway, but practically rust free. And....I picked up my third 1998 Grand 5.9 Limited. So I've got two now. Its got 177K on it and is the fastest of the three I've owned. The PO replaced the honey comb grill with a chrome 7 slot. That will get painted black if I can't find a 5.9 grill.
  16. Best of luck to you bud. Sounds like its going well. From the employer's perspective, it is very difficult to find good people, even harder to find good people and keep them. Its why there's an entire Headhunter industry. Most of the time companies are willing to pay headhunters to do all of the work to find candidates, set up initial interviews, then if the person hired actually works out and stays on for an agreed time frame, usually a year, the company then pays the headhunter a set percentage of the salary. Hourly guys aren't excluded either, headhunters will find anyone. The company I worked for in CO owed the headhunter 25% of my salary once I hit the one year mark. When I gave notice the boss took me out to lunch. We discussed the state of the company, any grievances I had and asked for my recommendations how they could improve in several areas of the company. We had a great relationship and they did not want me to leave. He finally asked how much it would take to keep me. He started throwing out numbers and offered just under what he was getting paid which was 60% over my salary. But I was leaving for a job that paid 160% more. I respectfully declined and continued to the new job. It was great while it lasted, but in retrospect now, I should have taken his offer and stayed in CO. I'd be happily gathering parts and turning wrenches for Sir Sam and Jimoshel right now.
  17. Huge fan of your work bro. I need to do a residency with you.
  18. Yeah I like those old fords. Is it a F150 or 250?
  19. Are you on a river or lake? Anyway, we've switched to jug lines for cats. Using cut minnows, we never come back empty handed. In Texas you can have 50 hooks in the water, so that's 50 jugs. Fishing over shallow mud bottom spawning areas with the bait set about 18-24" deep. You can make your own using 1 liter plastic water bottles. Its still fun to catch em on rod n' reel but it just takes too dang long.
  20. Never had a complaint! (edit: now that I read those links, I do find it disheartening, but he's always been good to deal with for me.)
  21. Good Job Ed! Way to go brother! :wrench: Likewise, I'm glad a guy like you is on the forum! Jay
  22. I've always loved the Waggy grille and lights.
  23. Yep, there's four of them. To be truly diversified, I recommend investing in all of them. But if you want to focus on say, Locusts, then invest heavily in the third. He's bringing the start of the famine. Maybe 75% in the third, 25% in the fourth. The fourth is a really really bad guy and is like the other three horseman wrapped into one. He's killing a quarter of the world's population. After all he rides a pale horse and his name is "Death" and hell follows with him. So you do stand to make a tidy profit if you're in the 75% that live, but then the fifth and sixth seals are opened and it all goes downhill from there.
  24. Aww, no big deal, all my plumbing still works thank god.
  25. The end will happen, but predicting an accurate date isn't in the cards. If the end was supposed to be known, it would be clearly written not hidden in some sort of algorithm of mixing letters. The same program they're using can be punched into a Steven King novel and it will give similar statements as well as info on celebrities and recipes for chocolate ice cream cake. Faith is required for the duration, not just at the end. There's no squeezing in 18 holes of golf with hookers in thongs with time enough to run into a church and set it all right. How fair would that be? That's why what is clearly written is how to be saved, then it really doesn't matter or not if the end comes in our lifetime. I don't go to church currently but I like this guy's testimony, its good for us "Dudes": http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/vom/id418084317.
