  1. the only thing is, that IS a cheap way to do it. but thats 585$ plus whatever the cost of factory ZJ arms are for you and for 1100 you could have a FULL kit that's gauruntee'd to work right, and very smooth and also flex like CRAZY offroad. thats why I'm thinking the RE kit is the most economical even if its not the cheapest. to each his own though.
  2. i don't get it? whats wrong with brake fluid not absorbing water or air?
  3. the rocky-road kit is a nice kit, although it doesnt address the control arms. you will most likely end up with bad vibes and possibly death wobble... not to mention a BUMPY ride if you lift 5 inches and don't address the Lower control arms and also the uppers. rubicon express has a VERY complete kit that you could buy, and run moab with the next week. although schocks are separate. another option as pong said is to peice together your own lift... as you know soa rear is cheap and only needs longer brakelines and new spring perches, and then you could find CA's and springs, as well as a longer track bar and front brake lines somewhere cheap.
  4. so you basically have to figure out WHICH tire to run first? you sound like theres to many options... you could just give away those 35x16s and the rims to me, then you'd only have 2 choices... narrow it down a bit for ya! :brows:
  5. DOUBLE time and a half.... now thats a deal i might take. shoe carnival's closed christmas though ;)
  6. looks nice man, did you ever get bigger tires on that thing?
  7. i think the thing with the air tanks is not that they HAVE to be upright, but that you need a drain plug at the lowest point of the tank so that whatever gets into it (oil from the oiler, moisture, other crap) will drip out... i know a good bit of juice comes out of my bro's airtank if it hasnt been drained in a while.
  8. seeee, some of us... were out wheeling when they discovered that their spare was suspended beneath the bed by some phantom wire that they couldn't budge... and had no owners manual (nor would have read it if they had it as they are male) and proceded to take the hack-saw to the wire and butcher the whole system... still need to replace that. still driving on that stupid ugly spare too.
  9. well ive had my phone for aobut a month already, xmas from dad&stepmom. sony w810... totally awesome. TWO MEGAPIXEL camera on it. from my brother and mom&stepdad got a truckbox, and an authentic jeep hat. (i want some wrenches! @$$)
  10. its 49* and raining here in GA.. enough to make the mud-holes and local stuff GROSS... pics taken bout 2 hours ago. (on my PHONE:eek: things camera is amazing other xmas present) sorry the video is all blue... forgot to turn it on cloudy mode from houselight mode. CHRISTMAS PRESENT!!! (truckbox) brothers jeep back at the house after the xmas fun.
  11. can you buy a 3 way switch from a homedepot or something like that? something yuo could run in-line so that the light will work with the doors and the switch?
  12. haven't you read the forum rules! gah, people these days.
  13. true... i started thinking about hte amount of cuts/patches/body work involved because of it being a 2dr...  no WAY i could do that... its almost like building a Xota!
  14. CWlongshot has rustys 4" and chevy 2" drop shackles (iirc) so he could probly tell you what the springs alone gave him... add abuot 5.5" to that.
  15. You know I test drove the new 2007 Wrangler and I stalled it like six times... guess why? The engine is so quiet you cannot hear it. It was crazy- I haven't stalled in traffic since I was learning to drive stick eons ago. truly, if my truck is about to die... you're gonna hear about it. but this beast DOESNT stall.. you have to really mess up to stall it... i accidently dropped the clutch in traffic once cause my foot was wet, and slammed on brakes to not hit the car in front of me... THEN put the clutch back in, and the revvs popped back up :brows: i always over-crank moms XJ cause i can't tell it started
  16. never came in an MJ at least i've never heard of one. the later ones that were 29 spline are considered decent... considering d44s are 30spline. itd be worth a lunchbox locker and gears maybe... probly not much more than that though. a truss would add to its' strength greatly. earlier ones howevre were 27 spline and more like a d35 than a d44.
  17. i didnt realize how cool eagles were! i never knew what they were... AMC really was the best huh?
  18. its so weird driving my moms XJ, you can't hear what's going on underneath you :dunno: how're you supposed to drive? (i don't have anything.. just rubber floor mats)
  19. ouch.... my brother's hilift has dropped his XJ (on 35s) from 3 1/2' in the air to nada twice now... thank god for rubicon express coilsprings... nothing got hurt. he oils it regularly after that.
  20. Oh, yeah ... I forgot you already have a 3" lift. If it still has the stock track bar, your front axle is off-center about a half inch toward the driver's side. You'll need an adjustable track bar to center up the axle on the chassis before you can really address the issue. ...no lift? I'm stock thats girs... just realized that... i've been butting in on his thread.
  21. that totally makes sense... the PO told me when i bought it that he had replaced all the stock steerin and stuff. so i have *new/used* stock steering and trackbar. i bet thats the problem cause my control arms are dirty all over, hence havent been rubbing. but that swaybar link is shiny, and so is the tire in that spot.
  22. thats not that bad... my brother and i just finished up friday. pretty easy, not even much traffic ( for the atlanta area) but i know what areas to avoid.. the shopping center i work at is the WORST, i have to go in around the side and take the back of the parking lot... even when its NOT christmas.
  23. SHE CHOPPED HIS RIGHT LEG OFF AT THE KNEE
  24. ive always taken it off and felt it... should be hard to push it fast, but not that hard to move slowly. and now i have to post the steering stabilizer mantra, because every time it's brought up this ends up in the thread ;) steering stabilizers only mask problems... they don't fix them.
