Two nice ones on CL for $95 in Jersey.

Shouldn't be to hard to find a single on Craigslist. I picked up a set of ravines that way. All unused spares with new Goodyear 30" 9.50 GSA's on them for less than $400. Took 3 months and some driving but I got them.

My 92 was running halfway decent until 3,000 rpm then it started breaking up @ 22psi. When I changed out the pump I didn't tighten the feed hose correctly on the pump hanger. If its popping but not running I bet it's a timing issue.

Can't be a lot of those left.

If its the same jeep as the one in your avatar it's more than likely your unit bearing. Oversized tires and mud wear them out pretty fast.

Crimp the return line momentarily. You should see more pressure. If you do you have a regulator issue. If you don't you have a pump or plumbing issue. Did you do anything to the pump in the tank? If you did you may have not tightened a hose enough and it's by passing right at the tank. Also, your engine should fire even with as little as 20 psi are you sure it isn't a timing issue?

I have the same problem, I picked up a harmonic balancer today to see if that'll fix it. I'll let you know in a few days or so. Depends when I have time to get to it.

Best way to take a manifold off is with wrenches usually.

Is the back of the 2dr doors the same as the back of the front doors on a 4dr? If they are, take a 2 dr and pull the B pillars off of another 2dr with about a foot of sheetmetal behind it and graft them in where a 4dr front door would stop and trim the original B pillar back to the beginning of the window and weld steel panels in and create a sedan delivery. I'd like to see somebody photochop that.

Use Cunifer brake lines if you don't already. Your local auto parts store should have it. They're said to be rust proof and easy to work. I sent you a link.

How about the rest of the wiring harness? Where was it cut? Do you still have the cab and body harness Try to save as much of the 92 harness as you can. Makes it real easy to adapt a later 93-98 XJ motor into an MJ.

May be a wheel cylinder also. Look inside your rear wheels for fluid.

What other parts do you have from the 92?

My "rare" 92 MJ has an 87 D44 rear and a 97 XJ D30 front. My other 92 has an 87 D35 rear and 98 TJ D30 front. Also, although the ZJ and TJ are both low pinion, they are not the same. The TJ has a shorter pinion shaft than the ZJ. ZJ and CJ D30 gears are interchangeable. Not TJ's though. But like said above they will all work in each other. Just have to watch your drive shaft lengths.

Input shafts changed in to the larger size in 1992.

I'm running two sets now that are less than a year and a half old. No balance issues and it looks like I'll get 40-45k out of them. Only tires that I got more mileage than that on were some 265/75/16 BFG Rugged Terrains that were load range E on my 98 XJ. Only wore about a quarter inch in 50,000 miles. Bought them used for 80 bucks. Best tires I ever had.

You should be able to get the stock style Goodyear wranglers in 235/75/15 for around $100 a piece. That'll probably be the cheapest for a decent new tire. The 225/75/15's are more expensive in my area.

The early XJ's were a product of that time. In the early 80's it was thought we were going to be running out of gas soon. When I got my license in 1980 gas was a $1.30 or so a gallon. I was making $3.00 an hour. I don't think it went over a $1.75 until after 2001 In 1999 it was around $1.00 a gallon. That's probably why they had such small engines in the beginning.

And then? Was it the DG in the condensor?

The pinion is an inch longer on the 8.25 than on the D35. So your drive shaft needs to be an inch shorter. Lots of info on google for the disc swap. May be better off with discs from a Liberty. They came with 8.25's with discs.
