  1. stock axles? :dunno: for that much dough I'd expect some upgrades to handle those tires.
  2. another vote for B, except with a gas engine in that tow rig. as fun as diesels are, if it's only for occasional use, a big gas engine works great and parts for it tend to be cheaper and more plentiful in random auto stores or junkyards you may find on your journeys. and as for insurance, I own 5 running vehicles, only one of which is insured for driving at any one time. it's cheap to insure the others for "storage". oil changes, tires, etc will all be cheaper for your DD and then you fire up the hauler once in a while for towing purposes.
  3. :rotf: thanks jim, I needed that. :D
  4. get your 2wd rear shaft shortened. should be under 100 bucks.
  5. a slightly easier way is to pull off the CAD cover, slide the collar over, and then re-install the CAD cover upside down. does the same job. Should take you 5 minutes.
  6. and try car-part.com to see if any nearby junkyards in their system have one listed.
  7. the only downside to locking the front is you might find out that the front driveshaft needs maintenance (which you should be doing anyway so it's not that big of a deal), i.e. a bad u-joint can cause vibrations at speed.
  8. mine were wasted, but it was obvious that they rusted away.
  9. there might be a write up somewhere, but it'll go something like this: -hold up the 97 lights in the MJ bed -fab all the mounts and fab fillers for the gaps -rewire to make the lights work properly
  10. seems the drivers side and the camber adjustment bolt was all the way to the wrong side. but all is well now. :D thanks guys!
  11. I still can't figure this one out... :(
  12. woo-hoo!
  13. the newer style rads with the filler neck/rad cap will go right in to the older MJs. got one in mine :D helps with filling it up.
  14. how important it is depends on how bad the blow-by is in a particular truck. I had a little filter on mine for a while. all it did was leak oil out that filter and fill my engine bay with stinky fumes that should have been sucked back into the engine. it didn't last long before I created a factory-like system again.
  15. not sure if Jim knows what that is...
  16. I replaced the whole steering assembly tre-to-tre a couple years ago (boy was that a fun job!). nothing was disconnected this time except the strut assembly and sway bar links. and yes the wheel was correct before. struts were replace at least once before, but that was before the van was mine. I'll pop off the tires tomorrow and check for any camber adjust-ability. I don't remember any but that doesn't mean it's not there. the van doesn't look any taller in the front, but I never thought to check before and after heights. and one more face-palm, just for the heck of it
