of all the places to rust, that one is at least convenient.

if one side works and the other doesn't, the problem lies in something other than wire size. both sides should illuminate if both sides have connection to 12 volts. one side won't suck the power away from the other just because it has a bigger wire. electricity will flow in both wires.

Bobbed bed with hitch receiver?
Pete M replied to mobbinmache's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Proper design will allow that, yes. When fabricating your new brackets, I suggest integrating the upper shackle bolt for extra strength. In an interesting pepsi twist, our '16 Durango integrates the factory hitch right into the steel bumper structure. I literally had to discard the old bumper when I installed it.- 6 replies

Bobbed bed with hitch receiver?
Pete M replied to mobbinmache's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
good question. To me seems a bit odd to hack off the bed for better clearance and than keep the thing that hangs down the most. Do you plan to tow with it? or just use it as a recovery point?- 6 replies

Finally done with the tail light saga
Pete M replied to Jay21's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
a good wet sand and clearcoat can make a world of difference. where's the details about the rest of your truck? -
based on the rust at the bottom of the windshield, it would appear that it is your source. But keep in mind that there needn't be only one leak.

So this pic of a tag has been on my desktop for a while now as I was hoping that I'd miraculously remember why it was there or where it was from, but alas I give up and am including it in the registry as a mystery truck that I don't know the year and aren't even sure I am reading the numbers right. lol All I'm sure of is that I'm sick of it being on my desktop.

that's a mighty fine rig you've got there. very jealous of the factory tow mirrors. wish I had some!

not yet.

are you tell me that army trucks weren't covered in highly reflective metals?
-
yup, it's a 2. and it's an AX-15 in a truck made after 3/9

I'm all ears. as I said, I just threw that map together. the southern most destination is actually Disneyland. I know the General Sherman tree and Yosemite is on his list. as is lots of coast-side driving. Probably SanFran too.

um, not much unfortunately. steering box maybe? if a v8, then the steering linkage and swaybar if they aren't worn or damaged.
-
dang it. my attempts to snap a pic through the dirty window resulted in the last digit getting nixed from the image. I'm going back to get some parts off it today so I'll try and rectify that. 212k miles. 4.0/ax-15/231/d35 reasonably solid. looks like it was stationary for quite some time and then hauled to the junkyard.

OM617 swap

awesome! need more pics and specs and such for the rest of the truck too! -
I threw that map together in a hurry. Yup, Moab is preferred route. Been there a few times. Beautiful country. I drove to Denver last year. there's a bunch of guys in the area so we should plan on another get together. I'm not a stranger to long crazy trips. I drove to Denver and Detroit and back to Atlanta just last year (4k miles and I slept in the back of the Durango). and then there's the ultra crazy Me/dog/Jeep trip to Moab in 05 (I think). Nothing like hitting the road in a custom, home built Jeep before car GPS units or reliable cell coverage was a thing.

couldn't find the one I saw before, but I did spot this one. guy bought a roller chassis mustang and it came with 2x4 rear arms.

that's a good choice for rims. Best factory Jeep wheels ever in my opinion. have you started a build thread for your XJ yet?

Vakarian's Comanche 'Trailbreaker'
Pete M replied to Vakarian's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
it's those little things that cause the biggest headaches. glad you figured it out! -
yup, I've definitely seen far worse. Although it feels weird to congratulate you for the small rust holes.
