  1. ebay.com is where I got all of mine.
  2. If I remember right, jcw.com sells a smaller version of the big rig stacks.
  3. Anyone figure out how to see the images full size?
  4. I think it may be easier to modify the TJ axles to fit the MJ, but pesonally I would just sell 'em. You do realize that swapping gears is no walk in the park, yes?
  5. It pretty straight forward. Grab yourself a Chiltons or Heynes shop manual from an auto parts store and that'll give you step-by-step instructions with pictures. Even better is the Factory Shop Manual, but for this type of swap the common store manuals will do just fine. Make sure the vent windows you buy are tight fitting in their frames. I bought a set from the junkyard and didn't realize that one of them wobbled a bit and that leads to whistling on the road.
  6. That's a good question. I didn't notice that before. :???:
  7. Few more. :wall:  :wavey: :shake: :offtopic: :agree:
  8. You don't know where pictures of your own truck are located? :rotf:
  9. I'm sure most of you have already seen this little truck, but I want to make sure it's officially posted up. The best thing to do is lube all the associated mechanisms on a regular basis (like with oil changes). It happens all too often. An MJ/XJ owner reaches down to pop the hood and the latch release handle comes off in their hand. If it happens to you, don't fret, it's not as bad as it might seem. Crawl under the front of your Jeep and see if you can reach up past the radiator (this can be next-to-impossible for owners with the aux fan or front steel guard). Now feel around and tug on the skinny little bar that connects the two corner latches. It's waaaaay up at the top. Sometimes this works, but usually it only pops the passenger side. See, the bar pulls on the pass side, but PUSHES on the drivers side. If it doesn't pop open, remove the headlight and headlight bucket. You'll see this bolt: It is one of two bolts that hold the bracket that the hood latch, um, latches to. There's two of them though. The second can be seen here above the first: I dismantled most of my front end before I discovered these two little gems, hopefully you won't have to. It's a tight fit, but it's been proven that a ratchet can get at both. Then the whole assembly pops up with the hood. Now open the hood, free the bottom half, and reattach it to the Jeep. Replacing the cable is pretty straight forward. Jeep on! --Pete
  10. It'll look like a real big flathead screwdriver, found on the other end of the stock lug wrench.
  11. Depends if the spacer (poly?) will squeak against the coil. I would keep the rubber isolator in contact with the coil 'cause I know it will be quiet.
  12. Plenty of crazy things happened in the MJs life span. During the early years AMC was desparately trying to get products out the door. During the middle years there was the transition from AMC to Chrysler, both in manufacturing and then design. And then it was abruptly cancelled and who know what they were throwing at it in the last days. But then, the 92s are now 14 years old and a lot can happen in 14 years, especially when it comes to easily swapped parts. P.S. Are you typing your signature each time?
  13. I swiped them all from other sites. :D That's the easy part. Getting them uploaded and saved into the forum program, that part was hard and confusing. :hateputers: But well worth it.
  14. Dana 44s were offered right up to the end.
  15. :needpics: :thwak:  :rotf: :deal: :huh???: :dunno: :loser: :smart:
  16. Au contraire. how else could I prove that my baby got to Moab!
  17. I love your rig! But I also love the original MJ lines. Plus there are laws around here that would make it difficult to park your rig at my house (everything has to at least look street legal and running). I'm not too worried about my head (the rollbar should be adequate to keep me alive), I worry that a mild mishap will destroy the one part of the truck that's hardest to replace in any sort of proper manner, the A-pillar and windshield frame. Jeep on! --Pete
  18. I upgraded to an animated one, is that close enough?
  19. Maybe I could make some parts of it removeable, like a windshield down bar.
  20. Ahh yes, diminishing returns. That's my big concern. Where do I draw the line? It's probably for the best that I can only do this in stages, since if left in a garage with all the right tools I might just keep going and going till I starve to death. I've thought about using slightly lesser metal for the gussets and connections and leave the big stuff for the main bars. It'll all be DOM, but the large stuff will likey be 1.5" so maybe I can use 1.25" or even 1" for the other stuff. And as much as I claim to be a function-over-form guy, it may be just my odd sense of form that allows that. :D All my engineering experience makes me think that the right design can be strong enough, yet not overbearing in weight or appearance. I want protection against this: and this: but I don't want this: Not that those aren't great looking Jeeps. It's just not what I want my 88 to be.
  21. As similar as the two beds are, I wouldn't build a bumper based on measurements alone. I'm sure there's somebody near enough to loan their MJ.
  22. Oh yeah, life is good. :jump:   :D 8) Do make sure you click on "view more emoticons". Unfortunately, this means a lot of old posts are going to look a little funny since some old smilies are now gone. :headpop: Oh well. Sorry guys! :hateputers: :headpop:    :( 8)  ;)  :brows: :USAflag: :Canadaflag: :chillin:  : :redX: :waving: :clapping: :nanner: :???:  :P :ack:
  23. Yup, sb and lb bumpers and bumper brackets are the same. But other surrounding parts are different and it all depends on precisely how the new bumpers will attach and mate up.
  24. All the info I've seen says that the disco axle was discontinued in 94 and before that, all MJs/XJs that had the np-231/207 had the disco and all MJs/XJs with all-wheel drive had the non-disco (meaning a handful of 86 MJs got it). It's a very easy swap though, I plan on doing it to my 90 in a couple weeks (mostly to gain the 3.55 gears). Plenty of crazy things happened back then, so it's impossible to say what exact the factory was throwing on the trucks.
