Depending on the drivetrains involved, only the interior, doors, axles, suspension, and front fenders may interchange. The axles may have a better gear ratio, but that depends on the truck you buy. I unknowingly bought an 86 with the 2.8L for parts and just about nothing can be used on my 88. Good thing the truck still runs. :D

My 86 MJ has an external slave AX-5. The "1994.5" cuttoff is specific to the AX-15.

I once ordered a large section of 1o" wide duct tubing for where I was working at the time. A few days went by and it never arrived. The company overnighted me another and life went on. Then, about a month later I got a shipment. What do you know, it was my original duct! Looked like it had been run over and then dragged behind the truck and was stamped that it had gone to Alaska at one point in time. :D

Well, the diesel ones anyway. :D

Just checking here, but the lift was for an MJ, not an XJ, right? Make sure you got the right add-a-leaf as the XJ AAL won't lift as high as an MJ AAL.

Blocks are evil. I also haven't had any issues with spring-wrap after going spring-over with an extra main leaf.

After 20 years, few A/C systems will still work without maintenance and it appears few owners of high mileage trucks want to sink that kind of money into them.

Keep in mind that if you stiffen it up, it WILL try to flex somewhere and stiffening up only part of it will lead to stress risers and cracks.

Just to let everyone know that I did in fact survive the trip home. We got in very late last night . The Liberty gave me 22 mpg hauling 4-5k lbs, which is better mileage than if I had just driven the MJ! Dang I LOVE that diesel!! I don't have many pics because I gave my cousin the video camera to use rather than the still, but I'll get my stuff up tomorrow. Maybe I can figure out how to get the video posted. :D

I was having trouble remembering details about it and I figured that was because it was so long ago. But then it hit me, the leak I was remembering wasn't from the A/C, it was from the heater core dripping antifreeze in the cab! All sorts of memories came back with thoughts of that nasty smell. :ack: The plugged A/C drain line is pretty common though, I'm surprised no one else has chimed in on it.

Sorta. They are newer and so would likely not need a complete overhaul as you can expect with a 20 year old Dana 44. The main good points are disk brakes and they are common in junkyards. Since you're changing to 4.56s, the gears in the axle won't matter so just make sure the one you pick is in great condition with good brakes and intact e-brake cables. Also make sure what ever type of locker you want is available for the 8.8. Yes.

An XJ Dana 44 won't save you any effort. You'll still need to move the spring perches.

Just to through this out there, but I remember reading of some lift manufacturers having issues with their prebent tubing arms bending on the trail. Plenty of gussets were added until they ironed out the problems. Can't remember who it was though. :???:

Will anyone be leaving a vehicle in the parking lot during the day? I'm in a bit of a pickle in that I can't drive on the road with the 2 boggers, but then when I get to RORP I'll have one extra trXus that I need to put somewhere. I don't need 6 tires on the trail, but my 2 trail tires can't touch the road (seriously out of balance).

All this would be simple if I can get decent prices on batches of 50 or so. For anyone that didn't already see it, this is the US flag MJ And I whipped up an Canadian one today

Well, I haven't decided what to do yet. He says he can silkscreen the image directly onto the magnet material, but that would cost about a buck apiece and I don't know if there's a lower number limit. We can keep the magnets for hand-outs like was originally intended and then get actual stickers for our personal trucks. Or the text-only vinyl "ComancheClub.com" cut-outs about 12" long. I'm working on getting the longer vinyl lettering for the windshields. That will happen regardless. Still up in the air with the stars-n-stripes stickers. The plan was to just print them on some clear sticker plastic (because that would allow me to print up only a few at a time as needed), but now he says the ink is a bit translucent and the colors will turn "slightly darker" if you put it on a dark color surface, and that means bumpers, tinted windows, etc might have a problem. Of course, he didn't have any examples on hand for me to look at. Sigh, there was a time when I thought this would be a simple thing. What was I thinking? :nuts:

Hopefully after this weekend I can tell you how I like my new MX-6 shocks. Well, up front at least. I won't have time to fab up mounts for the rear before friday. Monotube, gas charged, and adjustible. :D

Time out. Hold your horses. Houston, we have a problem. Even though I explained exactly what the magnets would be used for upfront and was told that they were UV resistant and no paper substrate was used, it turns out that the magnets are indeed printed on paper which is then adhered to the magnet and laminated over, or something like that. I put one on my truck and it only took one light rain to turn the paper into mush. I'm so freaking mad there isn't an emoticon extreme enough to adequately convey my anger. I just got back from the graphics store and he said he'll get back to me later today about a silkscreening idea. sigh... I'll keep everyone posted.
