I was under the impression that the older Jeep wheels had 5.25" backspacing, whether they were 6 " or 7" wide. Even some of the newer 8" wide rims (like those found on a TJ) should still have about 5.25" backspacing, right?

Years ago (thinking back to an Escort I once drove that had this "feature") I routed power to the washer pump directly to a separate switch. This allows me to soak the windshield before turning on the wipers so I'm not dragging the dry wipers across the dirt/salt/etc for the first pass. As an added benefit, the pump now works better because the new wiring provides better voltage. :D Also, this summer I'll be installing an XJ washer pump with the dual pumps (one for the XJ rear window). I'll wire up the pump to another switch and somehow route the piping up to the windshield so I can quickly double the amount of water hitting the glass. It's not like I think I need it for lots of mud, but it's just another one of those ideas I had that I feel the need to bring to fruition, just for the hell of it. :D

Excellent idea! :thumbsup: The box I bought is "weather resistant" so I should be good there. Not sure where I want to mount it, but the leads are pretty long so I've got options. This is the one I got: Cirkit Boss Auxiliary Fuse Block / 7 Circuits

I got an overhead shelf and put my little CB up there. I tried the hand-helds for a while and sometimes I couldn't talk to people even though their vehicle was right in front of mine. It seems to be a matter of power output rather than antenna size.

I just got my hands on a universal fuse box for my 90. I'm not looking forward to installing it. :( But the old one is falling apart and causing all sorts of electrical quirks. Stupid Jeep had to put the stupid clutch master right above the stupid fuse box. :headpop:

Road manners aren't a concern for me with these. They'll be swapped on at the destination. I've been reading up on fitting larger tires on a KJ and it seems to be a bit harder than MJs, even though the Libby comes with bigger tires from the factory. :hmm:

The XJ and MJ sheetmetal differs at that location underneath.

Don't forget that the "frame" is also made of sheetmetal. Anything attached to it needs to have the forces spread out over an area.

Nope. MJs and XJs use a wide and short radiator the likes of which are not found in much of anything else out there.

One of the local XJ guys here in Michigan did the box steel replacement. One year later the box steel started separating itself from the sheetmetal due to the sheetmetal rusting at the welds. Another option is to use the plastic or aluminum tailgate caps from the latest Dodge trucks. Apparently the curve closely matches the rocker area of MJs and XJs.

BA-10 takes 75-90 GL-5 gear oil. The latest report from Chrysler says we can use 10-w40 (yup, engine oil) in the AX series transmissions. I have not been able to test that theory out yet since my truck is still in the garage on stands. :(

SSRs as an AT? :hmm: That's odd, but maybe it's relative to the other Swamper offerings like Boggers and Iroks. :D KJs should have backspacing similar to MJs (~5.25"), but we've only owned the Jeep for a week now so I'm still learning. My likely plan will be to get some TJ 15x8s. That should keep the tires tucked in nicely.

Don't forget the rocker guards. :D

While it is theoretically possible that I could throw them on the trailer next time I visit my sister, that's not likely to happen until springtime at the earliest.

I haven't measured ours yet, but my research says '06 was still 5 on 4.5 too.
