Yes, there were 2 different size drums for the Dana 35. For some reason I always thought that MJs got the bigger drums (and the smaller size was limited to certain XJs and YJs) but my '90 MJ came with the tiny drums on it. :( Didn't matter though, as that axle was the first thing to get ripped out in the build. :D Also, a key point for the first-timer is to work on only one side at a time. That way if you get confused about how it goes back together, you can reference the other side (which is a mirror image). :D

If I remember right, the straight XJ sliders are essentially the same as MJ sliders and can be bolted to the bench seat floor brackets. Also, you'll need to find 2-door XJ seats if you want the seat to fold forward to get at the rear storage. 4-door XJ seats don't fold. If anyone would like to track down individual members who have tried the various possibilities and options and then compile a thorough instructional post, we have a DIY forum now. :brows:

The positive cable in my 86 once shorted out on the exhaust manifold. :D It's very important to keep the securely tied up. And this has very little to do with checking you cables, but a couple months after buying a high-output alternator for my 88, it shorted internally and the ampage caused the cable's plastic coating to catch fire... :eek: ...while I was driving. :eek: :eek:

'95+ is disk brakes. From my observations, 4.10s were more common in v6 models. There will be a tag on the diff cover that indicates the ratio and will have an L in the moddile of the number if it's posi. "4 10" is open, while "4L10" is posi. :cheers:

AX-15 ('89.5-'99) or NV3550 ('00+) from a later Jeep with the 4.0L. You'll need to get a matching t-case with the later transmissions' 23 spline output though (peugeot is 21 spline). External slave is always a plus (95+).

I gained like 3 inches of headroom when I tore out the stock headliner and instead lined the ceiling with automotive grade foam. I learned a hard lesson about the so-called "high-temp" glues though (the metal roof can get very hot in the sun) and eventually glued it up with exterior grade household black silicone. I had to put it up in pieces due to using 1" foam and having to work around my sunroofs, but if there's no sunroof it'll likely go up as a single sheet.

Apparently if a powerplant is used to power the electrolysis, the efficiency can be as low as 25%. :eek: Also, the anode in the electrolysis system needs to be made out of platinum or else the Oxygen will react with the metal in the anode and cause oxidation (their example was if you use iron, it'll turn to rust), which will reduce the effectiveness of the electrolysis.

I attached plywood to my 88's rear wall and put speakerbox carpeting over it. Makes a secure place to attach items like the fire extinguisher. :D

All of the 4.0L transmissions have different bellhousings. The innards I'm not entirely sure about.

Pretty much everything under the hood to be sure. Probably the majority of stuff under the dash too. Probably easiest to swap over everything.

Water is currently not a great source of energy because it takes a lot of electricity to get the H2 and O atoms to split up and is not very cost effective and is very very inefficient. We don't even get our current sources of H2 and O from water. We get it from other chemical reactions. From Wiki: About four percent of hydrogen gas produced worldwide is created by electrolysis, Please don't let this topic fall into the "big oil" stuff. Like politics and religion, it's another of the no-win topics on the internet. :(

Not the same. :( A Cherokee pan will take some considerable massaging to fit in a Comanche. The trans tunnel areas are very different.

Heavy duty leafs (the whole pack is different than regular MJ leafs rather than just an AAL stuck in), heavy duty coils, heavy duty shocks, 15x7 steel rims and 225 tires.

Myself, I prefer to pick and choose the parts. That way I get the best of the best, rather than simply what Jeep used back in the day. This is what I have in my 90 (which technically was 4wd to begin with, but I've replaced everything but the engine and trans): --97+ Cherokee Dana30 (because it has the bigger 297 joints on no CAD and is new enough that a complete overhaul wasn't necessary) --MJ/XJ Dana 44 --95+ bellhousing for the AX-15 (external slave) --NP-242 t-case (for fulltime capability)

No he didn't. He said he did, which is completely different. Like big foot and those pesky space aliens, I'd need to se it with my own eyes. You can't break the laws of physics. No one can. They are the laws that govern the entire universe. That's why we call them the laws. From wiki: They are all listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_laws_in_science The problem with the "water car" concept is that it takes the same amount of energy to convert the water into Hydrogen and Oxygen as you get back when you burn the Hydrogen and get water vapor and heat. You can't get extra anywhere. And if you can't get extra, the car can't move. But if you can split the water up at a factory, and then transfer the Hydrogen to the car, the car can run on that hydrogen. That's been proven. Fuel cells that produce Hydrogen in useful amounts use the stored up energy in gasoline, not water. Oh, and those compressed-air vehicles are in use in India I believe. But the concept works within the laws of physics because the compressor pump at the filling station uses electricity to run the compressor motor, which compresses the air. This compressed air now has stored up energy (like gasoline does) and is transfered to the car's tank. The car can then make use of this stored up energy to run the motor inside. By the way, these cars are made of plastic and glue. Don't expect to see them anytime soon in the US due to safety reasons. Compressed air simply doesn't have much stored up energy inside (at least not at safe pressures) and the vehicles are insanely light. But this is an area where technology can make advances and we might see some here eventually. Maybe new storage containers will be developed that can hold the air at higher pressures? Dunno. Technology moves ever forward. :D

Your foglights should be on their own relay or you're likely to blow the fuse or burn out something. But you can can certainly splice that relay's activation wire into the hi-beams if you so desire. Relays take very little power to switch. Although most cars today have fogs that turn off if you turn on the hi-beams.

- 4wd transmission that matches your engine's bolt pattern - t-case that matches your transmission's spline count - Dana 30 front axle that matches the rear axle's gear ratio (not necessarily what you have now, but they have to match) - front driveshaft of the correct length - rear driveshaft of the correct length - all the t-case shifter assembly stuff (don't forget the little linkage pivoting bracket that attaches to the underside of the body) Cost is entirely dependent on you. Some guys have purchased whole vehicles for $200, other's can spend thousands building up the individual parts.

You have that a bit backwards. We are limited by physics. We are always learning of new ways to use physics, but there are certain rules that we call laws, one being the law of conservation of energy. Gasoline has energy stored inside it. Nature put it there and we've figured out how to release it and get usable power. We get the benefit from it because we didn't put the work into getting it in the first place. Think of it as free money you found on the sidewalk. Water has energy inside of it, but it takes energy (electricity in this case) to break the atomic bonds in the water molecules. What is producing this energy? The car aparently. Where is the car getting this energy? From the H and O atoms it's bringing together from the water it split. Even in a perfect world this is a perpetual loop which is like getting change for a dollar and then asking the quarters to be exchanged for a dollar again, etc. There isn't any extra energy there to be converted into motion of the car (let alone that the real world always has parasitic drag on any system that will never allow 100% recovery). Free energy is great and all, but it's not going to come from that guy's designs. Sorry. :( It's a case of too good to be true.
