Can Spell Comanche

Can Spell Comanche (2/11)

  1. I would bet it is Dielectric (spelling ?) grease. It does 2 things, one it keeps water out of the socket, and two it reduces the vibration of the bulb allowing it to live longer. This stuff has been used in semi trucks for years. You can wipe it out with a cotton tipped swab dipped in alcohol or brake cleaner. The stuff can get pretty solid after a few years. J B Cuz
  2. A short video from March 5. My Comanche is the tan one and the white one is my nephew Scott. Link: J B Cuz
  3. I am thinking of putting Bushwacker fender flairs #10912-07 on my 91 short box. I am looking for comments about fit and install. Thanks J B Cuz
  4. I just sent this to MUDTRUCK87 and then saw the link a thought I should post it for everyone. J B Cuz thanks for resending the e mail. I think I am using what you would call a parallel style. i used the stock front spring mounts and made my own arms from RE builder parts. The mount for the axle with the stinger is made of 1/4 steel and boxed around the nose and pulled back tight using axle bolts. It can be made mostly from 1/4 x 6" flat stock. Other then a band saw you would need a welder and a hole saw. The stinger and mount are made from 1 1/4 dom and scrap I had laying around. By using a long stinger you can control the wheel hope and torque with less strength than a short one. I use about a 6" ride height for every day running, so 8" is not out of the question. view from rear, shows track bar view looking to t case shows end of stinger and mount. Yes that is me view looking to rear side view looking toward pass side The only change I would make is to make the area where the stinger mounts to the body wider so it would spread the load better. Now when changing from forward to reverse I sometimes get a thump noise, due to load change. Any more questions feel free to ask. J B Cuz

  6. Yes you can. At one time I had my MJ, TJ, and Dodge w250 all using the same key. J B Cuz
  7. I tow my TJ behind the MJ quite often. I know I am over the weight in the owners manual. I have a home made trailer made for either the TJ or MJ that weighs 1800#,s. The TJ is 4200# so I am around 1000# over. My MJ is set up with a Dana 44, disc brakes, large transmission cooler, and the hitch is made to use all the factory bolt hole which have been drilled through and have spacers on the inside. The truck is set up with an electric brake controller and when I built the trailer I used extra large brakes for the size. With the brake gain turned up it works fine just stay out of over drive. 10. A few pictures and some video of the weekend. We ended up with 34 rigs and 2 comanches J B Cuz
  11. I plan on it this spring. Just have to make time. J B Cuz
  12. It is all a custom build. I used RE builder parts for the arms and bought 2.5" wall DOM. For the stinger I used 1.25x.125 Dom and .250 flat stock. The part around the carrier is .250x6" flat stock cut and welded into shape. I used a whole saw to get the axle tube radius. Does this help you out. Let me know if you need more pics. J B Cuz
  13. A couple of pictures of my air suspension. by using air I can change to pressure to compensate for any load I can get in the bed, or on the trailer. The heaviest was aroud 2800# of oak for the fire place at the farm. J B Cuz
  14. I put my 91 SWB on air bags using home made arms mounted to the spring perch in front and used a stinger from the rear axle to a mount on the body near the transfer case. it is not a bolt in you do have to fab up the arms, mounts, stinger and axle mounts. It rides great and has nice manners on and off road. I see if I can get some pictures up. J B Cuz
