  1. Take a camera with you. :D
  2. Hmmm, good to know. I'll check into that when I get home.
  3. No one can make H2 with electrolysis using the car's engine and come out in the positive. It breaks the laws of physics because it takes more energy to make the H2 than you can get from it in propulsion. That's a negative gain. Shutting down 4 cylinders on the other hand... :brows:
  4. As you can see, I prefer lower vehicles on bigger tires. Don't forget that any lift will screw up your alignment. The taller the lift, the more it changes. My 90 4x4 on Jeep 15x6s and 31x10.5" tires with stock lower control arms. My 90 4x4 on Jeep 15x7s and 31x10.5" tires with WJ lower control arms (they have a bend in them that keeps the tires from rubbing) My 86 4x4 on Jeep 15x6s and 31x11.5" tires. My 88 2wd (sits one inch lower than 4wds) with 15x7 Jeep rims and 30x9.5" tires
  5. If you try the grease method, make sure you are wearing eye protection. I tried it and had grease squirt out in my face (I had goggles on).
  6. Wost case scenario, a calculator is all you need. You're looking for either a literal "4 10", "3 55", etc on the tag, or you'll find the tooth count for the pinion and ring gear, "41 10", "39 11", etc, and then divide. 39 divided by 11 gives a 3.54 ratio.
  7. I found this online:
  8. There's one sitting at the Chrysler building in Michigan. Someone go sneak in with a couple wrenches and find out. :D
  9. Questions should really be put into the Tech forum. That way more people will see them. :D Nice truck!
  10. That site is a SCAM. The laws of physics state that you can't get something for nothing. There's no way to use the battery to produce H2 to put into the engine to turn the alternator to charge the battery to produce H2. It's a losing proposition. The Mythbusters did an episode where they covered it. Google it and see.
  11. Pilot bearings require a "pilot bearing removal tool". Anyone that has gotten one out using any other method is exceedingly lucky in my opinion.
  12. Nope. Sorry. :D
  13. Don't know yet (they've owned it all of a week now). But we saw a turtle yesterday. :D
  14. sigh...
  15. maybe if we got more non-MJ tech questions I might consider it, but since we're sorta a niche club, most people don't ask them here. But by all means, feel free to post whatever you'd like in the pub. :D
  16. MPGs are overrated. :D That said, my record to date with the Libby CRD is 31.8 on the trip computer. It's most likely a bit higher than actual, but still. That's impressive for something that can tow 5k pounds. In fact, it'll give me 20-21 while flat-towing the 88 (which likely approaches the max tow rating). :D
  17. I was thinking more of: the 4.0L takes 6 quarts of oil, etc.
  18. Who wants to make a DIY post with all the relevant MJ data like fluid amounts and what not? Copying the page in Chilton's that covers that is ok with me. :D
  19. I'm already here. :D I'm down at my parent's new place in Georgia.

    New guy

Looks like you might need to add "longer control arms" to that list. The front tire doesn't look centered in the wheelwell.
  21. The coozies are $2, shipping will likely be $3 for a box big enough to ship the decal, and you can donate anything you'd like for the decal itself. :D I just got more in, but I can't ship anything until I get back in town next Tuesday.
  22. Got a picture of what you're dealing with?
  23. http://www.jeeptech.com/convtrans/ax15swap.html If your new trans is an external slave, then you'll need everything that goes inside of it. Nothing interchanges between the 2. The junkyard is the preferred place to get them. And for what it's worth, I adapted my external slave line to the trucks old line using a $2 adapter from the hardware store.
  24. If you're trying to put a later model AX-15 in to replace a Peugeot, then you'll want a pilot bushing from a 70s era CJ. It's a $2 part (which is important because I was offered 2 choices and the expensive one was wrong).
