  1. Oh, and feel free to snap LOTS of pictures and start a blog about your truck in the "projects" forum . :D
  2. Welcome to the club! What pipe bender do you have and what type of tubing are you using? What degree bends are you attempting?

But will that fuel hose hold the pressure of the compressed air? I appreciate it, but don't rack your brains over this too much guys. The hoses snake their way through the engine compartment and I'm certain that only an exact replacement will work. This one isn't mine, but it's the same hose and a similar failure:

Update: I "fixed" the busted hose with some plumbing stretchy tape, pipe hanging strap and a couple hose clamps. It should hold until I get a replacement. Also I got a hold of the guy with the used hose and he's giving it to me for only the shipping costs. :D Jeepers are awesome! I'm going to give him a CC magnet with the payment.
  5. The guys at ring-pinion.com might know. If you find some part numbers, you could do what I usually do and punch the numbers into google and see what comes up. :D
  6. Luck may have been what got me through the 3000mile/3week trip, but determination was what made it happen. Well, determination along with a credit card and throwing all common sense into the wind. More than one person said I was nuts. But I hit the road anyways, just me, my dog and my MJ. I met up with ComancheClub members along the way and wheeled in Moab, Colorado and Illinois. My best bud even flew out to Denver and we went hiking in the mountains for the middle week. Lots of camping, only 3 stays in motels and I even spent 3 nights in the truck (none planned though). If you want it, you gotta go get it. :D

Ironic, no? Don't worry though, my 90 and 88 are waiting patiently in line. Problem is that other stuff keeps breaking and cutting in line ahead of them. :( But I've got a huge pile of parts and lots of plans. :D Someday I might actually get to them...
  8. Oh yeah. It was definitely unpleasant. :headpop:
  9. Vents for an 00 regular cab Dak are located in the back wall. That's all I know for sure.
  10. Traction isn't hard to find at Moab. :D At one point in time I put even more into them to make it easier to steer (got a minispool up front).
  11. It's a TJ trans, complete with TJ shifter. :D Also the trans is an inch or so higher than stock. It's like an anti-racing shifter. :D

No, it's not what you were expecting. Our Libby CRD blew out a hole in the intercooler-to-intake hose and it's been all sorts of "fun". :( A big thanks to Chrysler for making hoses that can't withstand contact with oily residue. There's a company that's trying to get some oil-proof hoses to market, but apparently not soon enough for our particular Libby. I've got a lead on a used hose though, and maybe I won't have to pay the stealership $106 for something that should have been a freaking recall. sigh... Worst part is that this is taking time away from my repairing of the Grand Marquis that I'm driving 742 miles to Georgia next week. :headpop: grrrrrrr...... rant over. or is it?
  13. I believe it's an interior pressure relief vent. So that when you slam the doors shut or kick the A/C on full blast, the air has somewhere to go. I accidentally covered the vents in my Dakota and it would hurt your ears if you slammed the door shut. :(
  14. For short trips it never mattered, since Carly never takes her eye off what's out the window. For longer trips I usually stuff a sleeping bag or whatever in the footwell and use towels on top of that to make a flat area for her to lie down. I've never thought about building anything. Oh, and back in the day when I took my larger dog Perri places, I removed the whole passenger seat and built up a bed on the floor thick enough so that he wouldn't feel the seat bolts in the floor.
  15. All my tires are at about 15 psi. there. :D
  16. No problems with converting my 88 4.0 to 4wd. Until I crushed the exhaust on a log. And then crushed the new exhaust in the mud (used that stupid flexy pipe). Now I'm back to stock exhaust again. So far so good.
  17. We're not the only ones chasing down weird leaks. I'm dealing with that on the Grand Marquis and would probably never EVER found the culprit if it wasn't for a Vic/Marquis/TC club site. Long live the internet!

Yup, from Rob's details in the classifieds, it sits on a big Jeep frame and has a 360.
  20. Meh. Vents are okay and all, but a powered vent is soooo much cooler! :D (pun intended)

It's posted in our classifieds sections, but I wanted to make sure the everyone had a chance to check out this sweet ride. :D
  22. wicked.... :D Know what engine he's looking to run?
  23. Be prepared to pay out the nose. Or some other orifice. Like to the tune of $750 for an MJ Dana 35.
  24. I remember seeing that movie in the theater and when the MJ came on screen I elbowed my friend and said, Hey check it out! It's a Comanche! And then it gets wrecked. At least in "Sahara" they burned an XJ instead of the MJ. :D
  25. Sounds like a random gremlin. Let me know if it persists.
