I just brought home an intact 97 XJ header panel, complete with all the lights. :D I'm going back tomorrow for the seats and center console. pics will be posted once I have the whole set. I don't know which stars were aligned today, but one of the pull-your-part yards near me has four or five 2-door XJs in it. I'm going back tomorrow for the 97's seats, but there is also -99 (gray and a bit dirty) -89 (tan and a bit dirty) -89 (gray and a bit dirty) And I swear there was another one but I forget what it was. All 2-door so they fold forward like MJ seats. As I said above, I'm going back tomorrow so if anyone is interested, I'll take the camera and snap some pics for you and do a more indepth check of their condition. It's totally up to you to figure out how to ship and how much that would be. The seats are $50 for a pair at the yard.

The frame up by the steering box could definitely use a plate like the C-rok steering box brace (the spot between the steering box and trackbar mount is the problem area due to sheering forces and the two mounts fight in opposite directions as you turn.). The rest is waaaaay stronger than the XJ. :D

If they look parallel, then I gotta imagine that you're good to go. Got a pic?

Well, go get it. :D mozilla.com I won't ever go back to IE. Then go to the add-ons page and get "adblock plus", "map+", and I like "forecastfox" too. I think the spellchecker is built right into firefox now so no need to hunt down that particular add-on. And crazedlist.org is downright addictive. I can search all the major cities within normal driving distance and after you've set up your search and are happy with it, you can save that page as a bookmark and come back to it at any time. One note of caution, put your cookie setting on either "accept all" or "deny all" before using crazedlist and searching nation-wide. I usually leave my settings to "approve each individually" and made the mistake of leaving that on when I did a nationwide search. I had to OK like a hundred individual cookies. :( Lesson learned.

That's because everyone moved over here and no one posts over there but new guys/gals that haven't gotten the memo yet. ;) Does your EGR function normal? If you shut off a hot truck for a few minutes, then fire it up again, does it idle rough then? (meaning that the engine isn't exactly "cold", but the computer is still going through the pre-flight checklist)

One quick story on tire balancing. Don't ever just assume that they did it right. My old minivan developed some gawdawful shakes at freeway speeds right after the tire place swapped the directionals left to right (as part of the rotational schedule). I rotated the tires front to back and tried again but the same shaking was there. Took it back to the same tire place to have them look into it. They rebalanced everything and now it rides smooth as glass. Apparently someone was having an off day the first time? :dunno:

Yup. Forum software made me do something, so that's what I did. :D

Mine didn't come with instructions, they came with the bellhousings. That's probably where my confusion originates. :roll:

That's what I was told too, except both my 99 TJ slave (in my 88 MJ) and my 96 XJ slave (in my 90 MJ) both have a bleeder screw. :dunno:

Isn't it just a small set screw that takes an allen wrench? I'm guessing you might be able to find one at a good hardware store. :dunno:

Yes and no. It all depends on the individual parts in the lift. The front control ams are identical 2wd to 4wd, but the 2wd coils and leafs sit about an inch lower than 4wd. Kits that reuse your old springs may or may not turn out slightly different (like if you went SOA with 2wd leafs, you wouldn't get quite as much lift as 4wd leafs).

Members have come and gone since the very early days. It's just a fact of life that peoples' interests and priorities can change. I know you liked the old Yahoo format, but the club grew to a certain point and it just came time to move to a forum. Now everyone can post photos directly into their posts and they can read through a thread simply and easily. It just allows us to do way more things. (like have a projects section where you're going to post up lots of photos of the new rig, yes?) :D

I screwed the extinguisher mounts to the plastic bedliner right above the wheelwells. There's one on each side for easy access by anyone on the trail. This is only for trail rides though, as most kinds of fire extinguishers don't like to be stored on their side longterm.

I guess if the trans bolts were long enough you could use them. I prefer to have dedicated engine stand bolts.
