To go that far, I'd unbolt the driveshafts from the axles and strap them securely under the truck (pulling the rear shaft will allow the t-case fluid to come out). I'd also look up your towing capabilities of that Nissan first. A bone stock 4wd MJ weighs in at almost 3500 lbs.

While I too find it annoying when people don't follow up with their posts, I'm not quite to the point that I want to burden the mods with more work. Plus I'm not exactly crazy about the idea of gaining 25 worthless posts cluttering up the rest of the forums from each guy that just wants to place an ad for a truck. Also, I've been on the flip side of this issue trying to sell off the leftover Bronco parts in the garage. Took the better part of an hour to find enough tech questions to which I could actually contribute, just to get rid of some pieces of exterior trim. :shake: And, to the best of my knowledge, this forum software doesn't offer an automated way to require a certain post count before posting in a particular forum. :dunno: If anyone knows a way, please let me know. :thumbsup:

More power to ya if you can get enough info from the group. :thumbsup: Couple thoughts though: -since a lot of us have our lower mounts or bumpstops in custom locations, that might not work quite as well as hoped. My 88's measurements will be worthless to anyone who doesn't have my exact setup (also the stock flares are gone) -different techniques for lifting will have different shock requirements, it's not just about height (AAL vs longer shackle vs full replacement packs) -tire size can affect bumpstop location which will also affect shock travel Also, we don't really need to sticky it. It'll get bumped as people include their info. :thumbsup:

Shock mount bolts seem to be fairly standard in size. But I don't exactly have a lot of experience with the Toys to say for certain. Have you called Edelbrock yet?

How long can those arms get? Some where on here there's a chart showing what the arm lengths should be at certain heights.

Trucks are apparently more aerodynamic with it up. Plus, if it were any other way, you know the OEMs would offer auto-dropping tailgates to squeak out that last bit of mpg on their behemoth gas-guzzlers. :D

Swapping your drivetrain for 4x4 parts will not affect the ride height. It'll still be like is is now. :thumbsup:

You're the third person I know that's broken their digi camera in the last week and a half. :eek: What the heck is everyone doing to their cameras? I've only had one camera failure in my life and it was a software issue (pictures were coming out all psychedelic).

It does look that way, and I certainly used some less-than scientific methods to get the images close (microsoft paint has drawbacks), but the numbers tell the story: stock Waggy WB: 109" length: 187" my modded waggy WB: 124" (+15") length: 202" (+15") Excursion WB: 137" (+13" more) length: 226" (+24" more)

This as close as I could get showing scale and holy cow is the excursion a big vehicle. Even after stretching the waggy by a good 15", it doesn't measure up. :shake: Mostly this means that if I drop the waggy body on a 7.3L ford frame, I'll be shortening the ford frame for sure (excursion has the same WB as a regular cab Superduty). I also scrapped my thought of extending the very back of the waggy. Just too much work for another 6" of storage space.

So get another XJ. Just be sure to get one from down south. Gotta start with the virgin steel, untouched by salt. :D

You know he'd be out wheeling that Prius. :D I also vote for stripping that chassis clean and starting over with a fresh XJ/MJ.

car-part.com Might be tough to find good condition leafs in PA though. I got a great set from Florida and picked them up on the return trip from Disney last year. :D Also, the site doesn't really differentiate between 2wd/4wd and 2wd MJs are an inch shorter than 4wd. Might be better to get 2wd in your case since some guys have gotten over 6" when going soa with 4wd leafs.

If it's been sitting for a while, the gas is likely bad. Oh, and apparently less than a thousand 4x4 MJs were sold in 92. :thumbsup:

High-pinion Dana 44 front? Sounds like a Ford axle to me.

Nah, too tall for towing and too much money. :D Plus I'd much rather build my own.

With most years of 2.5L MJ you have to swap everything. Wire harness, trans/t-case, the works. A donor XJ is pretty much required. With the 86 model year, you also need to swap the radiator support, hood, and the hood latches to make it work. Minor tweaks to the firewall with a big hammer may also be necessary.
