  1. The track bar locates the axle side-to-side. Keeping the stock track bar at 3" pulls the axle towards the drivers side and might be causing the contact as the components on the passenger side get closer to each other. At the least, adding it in now will probably cause your steering wheel to turn off center a bit.
  2. Comanches and Cherokees are completely different out back, suspension, frame, everything. The shocks are mounted in different locations and are different lengths.
  3. Only certain gear ratio/axle combinations require removing the carrier. And even then, with some of them you can get away with nipping a bit of the one ring gear tooth that is preventing removal of the center pin. In my ford HP Dana 44, I needed to remove the carrier. :(
  4. Does he have the paperwork for the engine?
  5. Couple of those guys should probably have looked before they lept. :D
  6. I said it tongue in cheek. He'll know exactly how hard it is when he pulls the spiders out the first time. I had to pull the carrier out to swap the minispool into my 44 front and it was quite the pain in the butt.
  7. What have you done so far? Give us the chronological low-down. :D
  8. Ditto on not needing the t-case drop. Might want to double check with skyjacker that the big assembly will indeed bolt to an MJ. There are some differences in the frame area. YJ brake lines are longer for the front, 95 Dakota brake line is longer for the rear. You'll need longer swaybar links. Disconnect-able are preferred. MJs and XJs run different rear shocks
  9. Don't worry, I already did it. :D I've got a TJ trans/t-case in my 88 and did not need to clearance the floor. It's a tight fit, but no contact has been made.
  10. Locktite then?
  11. What is a "skyjacker component box"?
  12. That's actually pretty easy to overcome. Tighten it down a bit, then add a second nut to lock everything in place. That way it isn't relying on the crush tension to keep it put. :D
  13. Come wintertime, it's a cinch to swap the spiders back in. :D
  14. What about drilling new holes through the frame for new bolts? Maybe tying into the big shackle bolt?
  15. I think this is what he's referring to: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=323809

I don't remember ever seeing any confirming papers. :dunno:

And those searches would show? Probably not much more than you see in the ad, but my memory isn't the greatest. :dunno:

Yup, that's a shortbed. I do believe if you search hard enough, you'll find some posts about that particular truck on here or on the yahoo-group site.
  20. When I cut it into 3 individual strips, the side channel wouldn't stay up in the frame when I rolled the window down. When I only snipped the sides of the channel (so I could bend it 90*) and kept it all in one piece, it stayed up fine. It's also important to overlap the corner flaps in the right way or the window will bind the upper channel as it pushes up that last 1/2". I'll see if I can get a picture of what I mean.
  21. How rotted do the bushings look?
  22. Hard to say. There's evidence that both varieties were available at the same time during the transition years of about 90-91. Your best bet is to try and snag the trans and t-case together. Then they are a guaranteed match. Any MJ/XJ/TJ/YJ after later 89 can donate its AX-15, though the YJ/TJ may need a bit of extra work.
  23. Been there. Done that. :( Maybe I should add that to my sig.
  24. 3 down, 1 to go. :D
